Scariest Video Games You've Played

The scariest video game(s) I have ever played are no other than the Silent Hill games 2-4. I had never played those games until earlier last year and my GOD. The horror and story the games generated were incredible. They were creepy and the atmosphere was frightening. It actually made you shit scared and I had never played games like that before. The monsters and the mystery behind it all was the scariest thing. It was so dark and disturbing. You would hear noises and not see anything, you were constantly going down dark hallways with a flash light and almost no weapons. The controls for the games were confusing and I loved that because it made you feel like you weren't in control, that you were truly helpless and the weapons did nothing. The great thing about Silent Hill is that you were facing horror itself. You either had the choice to fight or take flight and run away. But that's what the games encourage, they encourage you to "run" and thats what was so horrific about it. You didn't have a pleathra of weaponary at your disposal. You had maybe a pipe and a pistol with 15 rounds that you couldn't even aim easily with. The monsters themselves were something out of the pits of hell itself. They were so deformed and strange, they hid in the dark like shadows in the night and they made incredible disturbing noises, some as though a baby was crying. Those games had some of the darkest imagery I've ever seen and probably the best horror games within the horror genre i've ever played. I can't forget FEAR 1 and the expansion pack to the first F.E.A.R., wow they were quite frightening as well, they combined action with horror which generated a unique style of game play that scared the BA Jesus out of you. You felt like the ultimate badass one moment and then once you saw the creatures you felt like a little girl with nothing but your innocence to protect you.
