I think Ridley Scott recycled some of the events from the ORIGINAL 'Alien' scrip

MemberOvomorph02/16/2012In the original Alien script, the crew of the Nostromo discovers the Derelict ship, but instead of there being an egg chamber in the ship, there was a triangle etched on the Space Jockey’s seat. They did some looking around the planet, and they found a pyramid. Inside the pyramid they found a chamber filled with vessels, much like the ones found in the Prometheus trailer. I don’t know its seems very similar.
Script Excerpt
Broussard is standing on a dusty stone floor, with a feeble column of
sunlight shining down around him from the tunnel above. Around is
solid darkness.
He flashes his datastick around. The beam reveals that he is in a
stone room. STRANGE HEIROGLYPHICS are carved into the walls. They have
a primitive, religious appearance. Row after row of pictograms stretch
from floor to ceiling, some epic history in an unknown language. Huge
religious symbols dominate one wall.
Spaced at intervals are stylized stone statues, depicting grotesque
monsters, half anthropoid, half octopus.
BROUSSARD
It’s unbelievable! It’s like some
kind of tomb… some primitive
religion! Hey, is anybody there? Do
you read me? Standard!
Annoyed, Broussard yanks off his breathing goggles, and leaves them
hanging around his neck. He takes a deep breath of the wet air.
EXTERIOR - BASE OF PYRAMID - LATE AFTERNOON
Standard and Melkonis are standing around nervously.
STANDARD
If we don’t hear from him soon, I
think we better go in after him.
MELKONIS
Sun will be down in a minute.
INTERIOR - TOMB - LATE AFTERNOON
Face bare, Broussard approaches the center of the room, which is
dominated by a large, broad pedestal. On the pedestal are ROWS OF
LEATHERY URNS OR JARS, EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE BROUSSARD STUMBLED ACROSS
IN THE ALIEN SHIP — EXCEPT THESE ARE ALL SEALED.
He walks around the urns, studying them. They all have sealed lids. He
shines his light on one of them; then he lays his gloved hand on it.
He lifts his mask radio to his lips.
BROUSSARD
I don’t know if you can hear me, but
the place is full of large bottles
or jars, just like the one we found
on the other ship — except these
are all sealed. Also they’re soft to
the touch.
He peers more closely at the leathery object.
BROUSSARD (CONT’D)
Another funny thing — I just put my
hand on it, and now there are these
raised areas appearing where my
fingertips were.
EXTERIOR - BASE OF PYRAMID - DAY
THE SUN DROPS BELOW THE HORIZON, throwing the landscape into gloom.
Standard and Melkonis switch on their lights.
STANDARD
Let’s go.
He attaches his chest unit to the wire and starts up.
INTERIOR - TOMB - NIGHT
Broussard is moving his light along the rows of heiroglyphs on the
wall. They depict stylized drawings of strange monsters.
He pauses to quickly change the film clip in his datastick; then he
turns back to the “urn” he was examining — BUT NOW THERE IS A HOLE IN
THE TOP OF IT.
He shines his light on the floor at the base of the “urn.” There lies
the “lid” — the stopper that had filled the hole. He picks it up and
studies it. It appears more organic than artificial; the inside
surface is spongy and irregular.
Then he turns the light to the now-open “urn.”
He bends over the mouth of the “urn” shining the light in, AND WITH
SHOCKING VIOLENCE, A SMALL, OCTOPUS-LIKE THING LEAPS OUT AND ATTACHES
ITSELF TO HIS FACE, WRAPPING ITS TENTACLES AROUND HIS HEAD.
With a MUFFLED SCREAM, he launches himself backward, tearing at the
thing with his hands.

MemberOvomorph02/16/2012While I appreciate your pointing out the parallels in the earlier ALIEN script, I don't think Fox & Ridley Scott would trouble themselves by greenlighting $150 million high profile project just to rework an unrealized screenplay. I am sure there are elements of the early script present in the new movie, but with Damon Lindelof on board, you could expect more than just another excursion to an ancient temple for some alien stand-off.

MemberOvomorph02/16/2012You have some very interesting points Jeremy B. Although like Engr101 said above, I don't think they will want to retread old ground with a 150 million dollar budget. There will certainly be connections and easter eggs but direct connections like that are very unlikely. With Prometheus their main goal is to breathe new life into the series and take us back to the origins of the Alien franchise. After the atrocities of AVP FOX decided that reverting back to the original concept of both the Predator and Alien franchises would result in something better. Both series hadn't been touched in years and I think its great that FOX is redeeming both series with something fresh and original. Giving new audiences something awesome to experience but at the same time giving us fans something to appreciate as well.

MemberOvomorph02/16/2012we discussed this already several times here but it is in fact a very intersting subject. My take is it's his baby and he can do whatever he likes...I will love it...also, the Jockey Himself scratched the triangle into the control panel as we found out was written in Allen Dean Fosters Novelization...I think there is another BIG reveal as well from it in the news section right here on this board. BH posted the actual page from that book.

You have my sympathy
MemberOvomorph02/16/2012I think your absolutely right Jeremy B. I read somewhere, years ago when Ridley had just finished ALIEN, that they would have loved to hanve included the temple scenes and incorporate "HR's" glyphics, they just didn't have the budget.
There was always a back-story that Ridley wanted to explore, well it looks like he has now. I think the film will conclude with the derelict sitting on the planetoid and that will be the only direct linkage to Alien. The back story can go anywhere it wants and if there is any truth about a sequal in the offing, you can bet it wont have anything to do with the franchise so buggered-up by 2,3 and 4.

MemberOvomorph02/17/2012I don't think @Jeremy B. is insinuating they're doing a retread of the early script. That would be lazy and uninspired. @You have my sympathy...I think you're on the right track. It seems obvious that elements of the early script Ridley liked that were not brought to fruition in 'Alien' for whatever reason, be it budget or story concerns, are being used in 'Prometheus' as a way of coming full circle to what fell by the wayside some 33 years ago.
I tend to feel as though Ridley has always had certain elements and opinions about the backstory of the SpaceJockey and the early script bouncing around in his mind and he's finally had the chance to complete his vision of what was behind 'Alien' to begin with. The ampules or "urns" in the "ampule room" with the big monolithic 40 ft. head are an obvious take from the early script....it's all just a matter of what else he brought from those early ideas to what 'Prometheus' will be when it hits screens this June.

MemberOvomorph02/17/2012Thank you for your comments! :) I was snooping around the forum when I found a post about a creature in the leaked trailer that looks octopus like! Could it be the creature mentioned in the script above? because If I recall correctly I think Ridley Scott was quoted saying that the creature in this movie is the ancestor of the Xenomorph! It would all make sense then!
