ampoule ideas

Canopic Jars?.................intervesting...berry intervesting....I like it...puts a whole new spin on this mess of theories we got goin'.....

There was to be a Pyramid (Egg Silo) in Alien and we have a Pyramid culture in AVP so why not some conection. Its an interesting and quite creepy idea...

Maybe the stuff in the jars in the movie are for replacing organs. They simply grow themselves inside the SJ--sort of like injecting stem cells in the hope they'll modify themselves to fit their environment/the user's needs. Unfortunately it comes into contact with with people. Just pushing the thread guys, not being too serious.

I think that what you guys are pointing at makes sense. This might be a little "off thread" but I have to ask your opinions on this. Is the dark and seemingly underground area where we see the big head and the ampoules the same place where we saw all the eggs in the Alien film. The cavern where Kane finds the eggs is obviously an old hive, but if Prometheus is pre-alien, would it stand to reason that it's the same place? Right or wrong, extrapolating purely from the trailer, I am thinking that the cavern is more so a lab or storage facility for synthesized face huggers. The big head being the sign post for the fact that they are derived from or intended for humans. The trailer suggests to me that the jockeys ship is docked at this facility. Obviously something goes wrong for the jockey...

Danrald you are absolutely right, that one has a hole in the top. Great find! It is very strange because that changes how I thought they opened. In the trailer scene where David removes the innards it looked like it had a lid but maybe he cut it open with a laser. Perhaps they are naturally seamless. Is it possible the top exploded out of the one here and rained debris down on to the tops of the others? Maybe it popped because David or someone was messing with it. Maybe it releases acid!

Maybe they're holding genetic material used to make numerous different types of life forms, a kind of organism creating "Noah's Ark" if you will. What is on top of the ampoules in the left hand of the pic, is it just dust and debris or is it raised stone like a carving? Maybe depicting the life form inside or something?

Seems the debris centers around that strange open one though. Are there any other shots of ampules that have debris on them?

The picture posted by danrald, it appears the far right of the ampoules is open and the left 2 have either debris or I think it looks like its raised carvings of some sort.

I was just saying that it seems weird that the debris is only found around the ampule that looks open. If the debris isn't found on any others ( I don't see it on the ones in the background) I think logic would dictate that there may be a localized event that connects these anomalies (e.g, the top popped).

If this old guy becomes the tall blue guy or Shaw's baby becomes the tall blue guy; it is probably late in the film and if David is still David here then can't see him changing......

@20thcenturybuick and @Bio, I'm still not opposed to the ampoules being Canopic Jars. But the reason I put the picture in is to state that if they are Canopic Jars, I guess one would not be opened. If you look at one closed, it looks like it can be unscrewed. But this pic shows a very fine (thin) lid, if even a lid. You are right it may have exploded. I think this maybe something but the "Snake in the Peanut Can" gag. You know, where you open the peanut can and a snake springs out... You may say there is acid in there.. but I'll have to go with something living... Looks like David is crouched and scanning the area for whatever was in the ampoule. What's your take, Jake?

If you look at other media of the Ampules you can see rock and gravel on others and around their bases. In fact some larger pieces of rock are leaning against the side of the Ampules almost as if they grew out of the ground....

I tend to agree with @Biomechanic...it's a very interesting proposition and one that logically explains the caustic/acidic expulsion onto that particular crew member's face...maybe the tops automatically pop when tampered with....perhaps David drilled through the top and the exposure of the contents to air caused an explosive reaction that sprayed the helmet and sent shards flying onto the other ampules who knows, but it's an interesting notion and really nothing to get so hot about either....

I went back and looked at all pictures of the tops of the ampules and did not see any debris... So I have something very important to ask you guys... what would you say the shape of the jar that David is pulling the "stuff" out of? Or more importantly, how would you describe the shape of that jar compared with the ampules on the ground?

There is debris on the top of some of the ampules. I don't believe that right side ampule is open. The camera light reflector is masking it, making the top look darker. Besides, would David walk past an open ampule? Has anybody seen the writing on the ampules? Why would FOX release a still with writing on the ampule? Must be important. Hi Bio - My arrow is pointing at the writing going down the side of the ampule. I don't see any more images of ampules with debris on top. I'm not sure of the significance of the scattered debris. The big head has a crack in it also. Maybe the cavern is ancient...falling apart...?

Regardless of the pictures, if any of the urns are opened when the humans arrive, it leaves two important questions: 1) Do they have any relationship to the body/suit, and egg/head lying on the ground? 2) If David is studying an opened urn, could something be missing from it?

Gehirn, Not sure for either point.. lol. But it is interesting that David is kneeling right by a supposedly opened ampule and 2 ampules with debris. Actually from your question 2, and from his actions, it looks like he is looking for that missing "something"?

Note the open ampule has plenty of writing on it as well. Ok one more thing... Here is a picture of the "ampule" that David is with.. can anyone say it looks like one of the curved ampules in all of the rooms? danrald, you're right. I was just looking at the curve of the ampule vs what David is pulling the green goo out of - and they are different. Good call! It is possible the green goo container sits inside the ampule, looking at comparative sizes...IMO... When I wake up it will be 100 days till June 8...

@Bio, Man, those are some fancy descriptions... I was using descriptions like "curved thing" and "straight thing".. and then you used descriptions like, smelting of group 4 metals of the periodic table and light reflection... impressive.. Can I pm you if I have a weak description of something that needs sprucing up?? lol... @Nephilim_LV426, Cool.. I thought the same thing about the matte ampule sitting inside of the specular ampule.. Thanks for the conformation... it will soothe my madness methods..
