MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 3:08 PMHey guys do u think there may be something similar to a facehuuger in the new movie? Maybey a new breed ? I know there is discussion on the ampules and also one of the actors recently said there would be som sort of rom com on how the aliens mom and dad met? Do u think they're may be different types of Xeon based breed? Would love to hear your thoughts!

AdminEngineerFeb-27-2012 3:25 PMI recall when the film was first mentioned and various interviews took place (this is back before it was even titled "PROMETHEUS" I seem to recall Ridley Scott... or was it Damon Lindelof... One of the two, mentioned how this film will focus more on the origin of the "facehugger", not the "Alien" itself we're used to seeing.
I'm sure we'll see something of the sort, just not what we're used to seeing.
Who knows, the last 8 minutes could end with the Engineer getting into the pilot's chair seen in the trailer, ready to attack Earth/wherever and the end of the film cuts off with a Facehugger latching onto the Engineer's face. It would tie into Alien and could lead into a Prometheus sequel. But who knows.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 4:59 PM In fact Ridley Scott stated that Prometheus we are moving backwards and not forward (even if it's a prequel to "Alien the eighth passenger"). I think we'll see a whole new monster that give rise to the facehugger or perhaps the pre-facehugger.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 5:00 PM...the origion of the face hugger? perhaps they find eggs on lvj maybe thats why the jockeys are there to collect alien eggs that are growing in some cavern or temple

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 7:08 PMwhat if sJ, that big thing, is a launcher for eggs,Its(its kinda oval at the tip)designed to start a population on whatever planet , kinda a univeral lifeforce that mimics the inhabitants of were ever its shot off too......????

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 7:45 PMI doubt there will be a facehugger in Prometheus. Every interview I've read with Ridley Scott states that he's tired of the original Xenomorph and that there will be no Xenomorph in Prometheus. And since the facehugger is the first step in the Xenomorph's life-cycle, this means no facehuggers either. We'll just have to wait until June to find out what will be and what will not be. In the meantime, why not use what little we have and build on that instead of endless wishful thinking?

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 10:58 PMI read somewhere that he was re-designing the facehugger for the movie, as that was the link that ties it to Alien. Which was a couple weeks ago, so him turning around and saying Peter Weyland was the ONLY link between Alien and Prometheus is kinda.......... Misleading. Not to mention dumb? Hmmmmm. Smoke and mirrors......

MemberOvomorphFeb-28-2012 2:33 AMHi everyone...I am new to the forum and have to say that I am excited to read all the great input about the movie. I am equally interested to see where the writers are taking this one.
About the face huggers and if we will see them or not, well, who knows?.. If I may, I would like to point out the obvious. IF the movies takes place on lv426 and IF the crashing sj ship is the crashed ship from alien/aliens, than I am going to take a leap here and say that there eventully has to be an alien(queen)in the story somewhere. I say this simply because of all the organic eggs found in the cavern below the sj ship in Alien. We see the ampoules in the prometheus trailer, we saw organic eggs in Alien. IF it is same place something must have laid them. This suggests to me there there has to be an alien. Maybe the eggs we saw in alien were first generation and are the result of the prometheus storyline?
ALL generalizations are WRONG!

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphFeb-28-2012 3:03 AMWelcome to the forum Nrlfetmefan :-) It isn't actually LV-426 where the majority of the movie takes place, in fact I'm guessing we'll only see that in the last 15 or 20 minutes. It's allegedly set on the Space Jockey's home world for the most part.
I don't think there will be a queen, however I do think we're going to see the Alien in it's earliest form, which according to reports (have a look through previous threads for more info) are effing HUGE. And I am hoping, in all honesty, that we do get an explanation as to how the eggs got there in the first place. In fact I think it has a lot to do with the question Lambert poses to Dallas in the original Alien, "What the hell happened to the rest of the crew?" on the derelict ship they find. I really think the rest of the crew were turned into those eggs, because you see it happening to Dallas and Brett in the Director's Cut of Alien. The Queen alien was James Cameron's idea, and was meant to give us a point of reference to something we know, which I think made them less scary. Intergalactic ants? Nah. Ridley Scott's ideas were better I think, and in fact am watching Alien as I type this :-P The monsters are (hopefully) going to be new, twisted and scary as hell.

MemberOvomorphFeb-28-2012 4:17 AMcypher- well noted with the "what happened to the rest of the crew" and the fact we did see brett and dallas turning into eggs in the directors cut- cant believe i missed that- i think that would be insane if the eggs were formed from already living matter. the only thing i would point out tho is there are thousands of eggs down in the cavern. that would mean if that were to happen there would have to be thousands of life forms in order to make them.
heres a question who would all these life forms be.

Cypher
Co-AdminMemberOvomorphFeb-28-2012 4:24 AMThat is indeed a good question, but remember that the Engineers (Space Jockeys?) are a fair bit bigger than us, so you could imagine that if there were a few Jockeys on that ship then there would be a fair bit of organic material to use in conversions.
To be honest I'm not certain of this theory but I think it's a solid one. I really wish this was out already, the wait is starting to do my head in. Been waiting for this for as long as I can remember. Which is awhile. I'm not as old as some of the other members here, but I am a rabid sci-fi and horror movie fan :-P so it FEELS like I've been waiting as long as they have even if they got to see it in cinemas when it was first released. Man, I wish!

MemberTrilobiteFeb-28-2012 5:02 AMRemember people to use IMO when stating your opinions of what you think may or may not be in the film, the actual facts about Prometheus are thin, hence everybody's speculations.

"I am going to take a leap here and say that there eventully has to be an alien(queen)in the story somewhere."
It's also possible that all of those eggs we see in Alien (had to be thousands and thousands stretching into the distance) were grown by the derelict. That makes the most sense to me, especially if the derelict, when not crashed, is organic and alive.

MemberOvomorphFeb-28-2012 7:52 AM@Frantz: Do you have a link to the Ridley Scott interview on MTV to prove what you wrote about the final thing we see, which is the facehugger? Or are you just speculating?

That interview is from 2010, by the way. Almost 2 years since Ridley said the facehugger/xeno concept is (in his words) "worn out".

MemberOvomorphFeb-28-2012 2:13 PMI guess I am just trying to understand a possible outcome for Prometheus based on the history of the franchise. I'm with you guys on the fact that Ridley wants to go somewhere else with the prequel, he seemed to make that clear in interviews.
I missed that Dallas and Brent were being turned into eggs in the directors cut. I had to go and review the scene to see it for myself. I see that they are cocooned up against a wall and noticed some fleshy things that looked like "egg flaps"(for lack of a better description) sort of encapsulating brents head, but are they being turned into eggs? Is it our opinion that they are being turned into eggs, or is it a fact?
I am curious and would like to know more!
