MICROGRAVITY... ...A Conceopt I had never even heard of until 5 miutes ago... Then I saw this... Angry Birds Space has provided NASA an opportunity to share a core concept of space exploration: gravity. Not only does gravity play a vital role in the game but, in general, gravity is a force that governs motion throughout the universe. It holds us to the ground, and it keeps the moon in orbit around Earth and Earth around the sun. The nature of gravity was first described by Sir Isaac Newton more than 300 years ago. Now three centuries later and more than 200 miles above our home planet on the International Space Station, astronaut Don Pettit shares the thrill of concepts like gravity and trajectories with some help from Red Bird. I wonder now what incredible Space related scientific principles Ridley is going to tamper with and/or Introduce us all to in Prometheus?

Microgravity is the effect you feel while in orbit around the Earth, or where ever. They also call it "zero g" but that's just what it feels like while in orbit or freefall. What's interesting is Newton thought of gravity as an attractive force between two objects. Einstein described gravity as the warping of space caused by the presence of massive objects such as stars and planets. We have even observed this curvature directly, by measuring the apparent positions of stars (during a solar eclipse) that should have been BEHIND the Sun! Then there's the whole mathematical model of space/time, which gets really mindblowing! The whole idea of zero-g or microgravity, as it is sometimes called, is this is what you experience while rolling around (or falling into) the gravity well of a star or planet.
