Could the "Mutant" Be A Rogue Android?

Prometheus Forum Topic

In interviews in the past we heard of there could be more than one "David" in the film. So, could the "Mohawk" guy actually be a rogue android? Like what happened to Ash? In the preview trailer, we see this character throwing one of the crew around, but looks to be the same size as a crew member. Also, his description form previous screen caps matches this new image: So, could this actually be an android who goes rogue and tries to sabotage the Prometheus mission? Could his "burns" be the result of the crew fighting back to try and stop him? Could there be two androids from two different companies on board? One from Weyland and one from Yutani and they're secretly competing for the finds of the Prometheus mission?!? So many questions, so many possibilities. What are your thoughts? Or am I out to lunch? Haha

I think he's human, but I believe that he could get mutated/experimented on by the Space Jockey's. . .

to be honest the only interview that can point to more than one android is the Q&A with Ridley and Lindelof ... someone did ask if there would be one android in the movie and i think Scott did answer " why not 2 ?" or something like that ...so there is really no indication that there can be more than one android ..of course can be that they are ALL android but there is really no indication except a provocative/joke answer from the director

I always thought that it may be possible David is not an android and Ridley intentionally is selling him as one. Maybe he acts rigid and lack personality for most of the movie and then when we are sure he's an android he dies a bloody death revealing he was all too human. : )

He definitely looks like our 'Mohawk Man' Bughunter.

I definitely think Mohawk man is human and mutates. @Biomechanic, that's a really interesting idea! not quite sure I buy into it but certainly fun to think about!!

I seriously don't think that would be the case but if it was it would make me laugh. I mean where are we getting the fact that David is an android from? Nothing seen so far really nails it. There is supposedly a shot of white blood but it is in the comic con trailer and even then it might not be his blood or android blood at all. Why do we take this as a fact? Was it in an interview? I only remember Ridley saying their might be one or two androids but I don't remember him naming anyone in particular. Kind of like the ship named Megellan. Where did that come from? There is no supporting evidence for it anywhere but it became a fact for a while.

found this great gif of mutant mohawk man in mid-leap. you can really see the transformations to his face - his head is misshapen around the forehead. (sorry if it's already been posted)

Is it me or does part of 'Mutant Mohawk man's' right shoulder disappear during that clip?

@Milos - I think that's just the lighting playing tricks on his shiny suit @ncc1701 - looks like his boots are flared at the top. what's also interesting is if you look at his pants midsection closely, they look torn and frayed, which would make sense if his height increased.

lol - you've got a point there. Neelix - jeez what an annoying character he was. I'd like to see mutant man jump on him ;)

The fact that his clothes seem frayed comes from him having been fried a few times by them.

And let me add... That hi-Rez gif looks great btw and combined with the hi-Rez stills I've seen so far... The color work on this film is just spectacular! Ridley seems to have gone out of his way for outstanding color correction, etc.

There is a very interesting point in this thread: Weyland and Yutani companies are separated, or am I wrong? So there could be an Android spy infiltrated by Yutani company to sabotage the mission of Prometheus for before returning to Earth with the valuable discoveries. IMHO of course. With respect to the mutant, I think it is just that, a mutant or a monster. regards

Interesting Shambhala.....makes you wonder when, where and how they would have reconciled inspite of sabotage...also, Yutani could have kept it totally under rapps with the Prometheus likely not returning.

@craigamore Yes, I think there is a possibility that Yutani is part of Prometheus, and insurance will be antagonistic role against Weyland.

I didn't think about that - Nice call! I'd much prefer for this guy to be a haywire android. His synthetic face could just be puffed up due to having his helmet off and depressurized in the lack of atmosphere. What would Ash or Bishop have looked like if they stepped outside in a low pressure environment? In my opinion, having a crew member be mutated is a very dumb idea. It sounds very much like a goofy 60's B science fiction movie. Keep the assimilating to Star Trek and the Borg; it's been done to death already. Give us something new.

In the first trailer there is a quick shot of someone holding their helmet with some kind of smoke or poison inside the glass. I am guessing that whoever "Mohawk Guy" is, that's how his face gets all banged up.

another idea, perhaps the original Xenos´ origin is from an infected/ mutated android? would explain the bio-mechanical background.

The mohawk and the goatee match; Has anyone tried matching the tattoo/branding on the side of his head to any of the previous pics for some definite conclusions? Being an android would make sense out of his being strong enough to toss a person and the way he climbs up the side of one the vehicles to escape the flames.

He looks to me like that DR. Character on Star Trek Deep Space Nine...also, if you guys keep this up soon you will have NO NEED to see this film, you'll have figuered it all out beforehand.

Is the mutant throwing the poor crew man against the vehicle the same as the Mohawk mutant? They look very different to me: the mutant looks as though he has either a helmet on his head or his head has/is mutating into something xeno like. His arms, in particular the forearms looks very long and thin - reminds of the original alien. This begs the question how many of the Prometheus crew become "infected"?' What do we think? FYI - I don' like the term mutant. Anyone got a better suggestion?

Ugh! This movie is going to suck! ================= Calm down; I'm joking. ================= What is this? A leftover from a Ninja Turtles movie? Let me guess; he's a sewer-dwelling mutant. The aliens "experimented" on him and "infected" him with the green "ooze" and now he's a bumpy-headed sewer monster with gills! It would ruin it for me if he's a mutant; it's just such a silly idea.

IMHO I think the real monster is the one being consumed by flames, so we can not see. According to this order would be: 1) The real monster being killed 2) And his friend the monster incomplete (the mutant) who decides to help him or avenge his death. 3) Here we can see right from our perspective the burned body of the monster. @Xenotron What the hell are you waiting for?, Scott never revealed the appearance of the Monster in a trailer, he did in Alien and will not do it in Prometheus. I sincerely believe you're being rather hard with this. The fact that we see a mutant / android or whatever does not mean you know everything about the Change nature of the creature in this movie, because in reality we know nothing so the only thing 100% official revealed on the day of release. And if you have a better idea I think you should expose it, after all this is a forum ...

What the hell am I waiting for? How about something a little more creative than a guy in a bumpy-headed rubber suit. Something truly ALIEN. I realize that I don't know everything about this movie. In fact, all of us together are probably wrong about half of the stuff we theorize on this movie. What I am worried about are the things that have been released; the things we can see. Right now, I see a goofy-looking mowhawk man in monster makeup. I realize they are keeping things under tight secrecy, but it troubles me that they chose the monster that looks like the guy from the end of RoboCop to sell the movie. Let's face it: this movie is riding on the hype that this is another ALIEN movie, and we know that it has at least something to do with it since we've seen Weyland, the derelict, and the space jockey chair. The reason we are all here is because of our love for ALIEN and we really don't know that much about Prometheus. For now, I remain cautiously optimistic. I hope there is a lot more to it than some mutant space-zombie plot. Maybe I'll feel better about it when the full trailer comes out on the 17th.

@Xenotron Well, your words speak for all fans of Alien we want to see something much like Giger / Necronomicon. And certainly it's all in the game, everything we know about the Alien universe and about the classic 1979 and we will not see this movie in the same way once we see Prometheus in June. The trailer for the 17th revealed some important details of the plot, but again with this, do not think it reveals the appearance of the Monster, what would be a great mistake on the part of Scott. And finally just say that Prometheus may be a new concept of prequel to the Alien do not need to enjoy and understand the plot, ie something more original and universal. On the other hand I did not like the concept of the suit, would have preferred to be his true appearance bizarre, or that it was a most terrifying and surreal aspect and not a giant bald man. With what I have to admit that the mutant is not the best but still I have great faith in Scott and I doubt disappoint his fans, what can you expect from George Lucas but not Mr Scott.
