MemberOvomorphMar-13-2012 7:21 PMits green...its semi translucent./...it has prongs on the end//what could it be
what the hell is it and why do the jockeys keep it in the ampoule room... its reminiscent of the scene in which ash studies the facehugger
is it a plant...is it an egg...does it contain genetic material....is it a weapon what the hell is it,....are their any references out there in ancient literature about things being kept in jars
my best guess is that its what emits the acid gas and david is studying it

MemberOvomorphMar-13-2012 7:53 PMThe only alien Ridley talks of in the interviews is the facehugger. Not sure the ampules hold anything like that, but it definitely has a form. Having form makes me think it is for some kind of purpose. Maybe not the facehugger, but something similar.

MemberOvomorphMar-13-2012 8:56 PMThe parallels lead us to believe the ampules contain the proto-facehugger. Whether thats a venus fly trap type plant or a 'creature' of some sort is up to speculation. Quite a few people on here have stated that it contains four vials with something else in it, although I think that concept is taken from the fanfic synopsis written over on IMB months ago.
I'm HOPING that the vials contain bioformer matter that takes David on a pinochio-like journey. Ridley Scott making an android turn into an alien/humanoid hybrid would be badass. I honestly doubt thats the case, but we'll see.
The main thing I take away from the whole ampule room with the giant head, is the fact that it was placed in the trailer. That scene is absolutely awesome. One of the first comments I had to a buddy is that if I were directing it I would have never put that in the trailer, given how awesome it is. That should have been a reveal in the movie. BUT, the fact that it is shown in the trailer means that we haven't seen ANYTHING yet. Only bits and pieces. There is some big scary stuff in this movie, and unlike most Hollywood filmmakers Scott has done a great job at scaring his staff quiet.

MemberOvomorphMar-13-2012 9:30 PMthe head scene is too iconic for Scott to leave out of the trailer. It's practically single-handedly selling the movie at this point. The David/ampule thing is also brilliant - you can sort of make out familiar shapes in there, but not quite. He shows just enough to drive you nuts trying to figure it out.
