Have we already seen the ending?

MemberOvomorphMarch 14, 20122954 Views35 RepliesIt now seems obvious to me that we have already seen the ending of the movie.
The derelict ship takes off, the remaining crew member onboard the Prometheus set the ship to collide with the derelict. Theron (and Rapace), race to escape, putting on their space suits and ejecting in an escape pod, before the Prometheus slams into the Derelict ship spreading debris everywhere, grounding it, and also leaving it damaged, leading to Alien...
Although I'm sure there is an extra ultimate battle on the planet where Theron or Rapace are slaughtered (since this kind of surprise is a huge part of Ridleys story arc).
Plus someone must be left over to lay all those eggs... (ie. the punishment of Prometheus)

In his defense, he doesn't have to theorize anything to have a place here on this board. Everyone is here because of their love for the Alien movies.
To me, theorizing at this point is a lot like masturbating; it's fun, and it makes you feel important, but it gets you nowhere, and it gets kinda messy.
Everyone might as well be trying to guess how many fingers I'm holding up behind my back; sure 10% might get it right, but you'll never know until I reveal it.

gonzoMarch 14, 2012
There must be more. There must be "something to do" for Vickers and Shaw on the planet. Why would they bother escaping Prometheus before colliding with space jockey ship? If I could choose whether to die in a space ship collision or slowly rot on barren deserted planet light years from civilization, I definitely wouldn't race for that escape pod. So I wonder what's gonna happen to the ladies after the derelict crash..

latinhypercubeMarch 14, 2012
I wish you were right, but we know how it ends... It ends with the crashed derelict ship full of Alien eggs. There is no doubt that the derelict ship from Alien is the one we see crash landing, since it is so unique looking. Hence, the crew have to die, eggs are laid, and an alien warning signal is sent. About the only new element might be the destruction of the Space Jockey 'Temple' probably with Nukes or maybe something volcanic.
I would hazard a guess that Rapace is impregnated by the infected crew member, since we have seen shots of an injured woman, and clues eluding to a pregnancy. She then gives birth to the first of many eggs. So the twist would be that the Alien life cycle started with a human mother (impregnated by a mutating space jockey).
chthonMarch 14, 2012
The 'derelict' is a model SR4/t standard SJ-mobile. They make them on a bio-production line back on SJ-world. Apprently they're not very reliable and there's loads of them left abandoned throughout the universe, lowering house prices in poor neighbourhoods.

latinhypercubeMarch 14, 2012
Another give away with the teasers is where are the space jockeys ? It seems obvious that whatever 'temple' is discovered is abandoned. A crew member is infected by a proto-face hugger and mutates into a space jockey, impregnating Rapace, then trying to take off in the derelict ship, probably heading to Earth. Hence the crew of the Prometheus has to take it down.

latinhypercubeMarch 14, 2012
If the Space Jockeys were around there is no way they would let the Prometheus escape and blow up their ship.
Also, if the Space Jockeys were in this film, why bother having a crew member get infected and mutate into one ?
I think it pretty obvious that the ampules mutate their victims into Space Jockeys / Human hybrids. Perhaps this is their version of first contact, or their species is all but extinct and this is their only way of surviving and spreading.

Lets just wait and see the film before we start saying we know how it ends.... Dont get me wrong Im all for discussing theorys, but for people to start saying they definitely know whats going to happen is really starting to get old...

latinhypercubeMarch 14, 2012
I am not saying 'definitely' anything. But there are some obvious clues to put together.
I am very much looking forward to some surprises !
Just trying to piece together what it quite obviously in the trailer.

shardyMarch 14, 2012
i haven't a doubt the derelict ship crashes into another craft
(most likely the PROMETHEUS), probably towards the end
of the film
but, i'm keeping in mind that this is Scott driving this film,
i think back to ALIEN, and there was a ship exploding, but by no
means was it the end of the film. there was some powerful things
that took place after the Nostromo blew up
hopefully, Scott will pull that same brilliant direction
for this new film, as only he knows how to do it, in a fresh new way
at least that is my hope...

Jim JimmerMarch 14, 2012
But then looking at the trailer although the SJ ship is the same in shape, there is obvious differences. I dont think its the same one as in Alien.
I know that during the course of production design, things change. But if this were to be a direct prequel to Alien why change the only connecting piece.....

@latinhypercube [A crew member is infected by a proto-face hugger and mutates into a space jockey, impregnating Rapace, then trying to take off in the derelict ship, probably heading to Earth. Hence the crew of the Prometheus has to take it down.]
If that's the case and it's at the end, how does Rapace survive a pregnancy? She's clearly seen running and fit as the derelict is rolling towards her and Vickers. Logic dictates there is more than one derelict ship in the movie. That dust cloud headed towards the Prometheus in the teaser could indicate another derelict ship dropped out of orbit and destroyed the temple by firing on it. It's a possibility. I believe we see in the trailer with them running from the rolling derelict is a scene that happens not at the end.

BellaisanAlienMarch 14, 2012
There have been implications of a sequel (2 of them) of which Repace has been the only character hinted to be making an appearance. So I can't see the whole cast being killed off; aliens win. I would assume the derelict / human ship (Prometheus or Magellan) crash is at the end of the film, but not the final scene.

db73March 14, 2012
"So I wonder what's gonna happen to the ladies after the derelict crash.."
The mind boggles but suffice to say I'm already looking forward to the sequel :-)
ChumbrotherMarch 14, 2012
just like in alien, when all seams to be over the music is soft, but then BANG, surprise, Mr. alien, still here. the promethus slogan says that the crew is left on a planet to survive, so theres more to the ending, I agree with others, its a film for entertainment, of course the door is always left open just in case. some here way over analyze things. theres no way we the public will see the ending of this film, before it out, thats the money shot! very excited to see this movie.

craigamoreMarch 14, 2012
@latinhypercube...no, you're not "saying 'definitely' anything." But You sure are assuming a hell of a lot. shardy is right........and for all we know the 'collision' is just the beginning of act three and not the ultimate clamix. We don't know squat.

aintnozenoMarch 14, 2012
In one of Theron's interviews, she mentions being the cold suit from the company that later "sheds her skin" towards the end. While I'm sure she just means that she warms up to the crew, I can't help but wonder if there is a hint there.
The "theory" that only she and Shaw survive at the end opens up all sorts of possibilities, and I think Vickers is going to be the main antagonist at the end, regardless of what form she actually takes.
ShaneMarch 14, 2012
Since it appears from the screen captures it does take place on LV-426 [or one of the sister moons of LV-426] that solar system is also a connection to the original alien.
I think they just tweaked some designs a little bit. Maybe Ridley went back and corrected some stuff from the original he didn't like the appearance of. Little tweaks here and there. It's not like it is a George Lucas level of tweaking.
GuestMarch 14, 2012
@Craigamore.....we sure don't (know squat). This is the fun part!!!! I love the theorizing!!!!

@Craigamore.....we sure don't (know squat)!!! This is the fun part, my favorite part. I love all the theorizing!!!!

SpartacusMarch 14, 2012
I do not think there is/will be anything at all to do on LV-426 other than die ! It has been pretty clear to me since we saw that trailer that we are seeing the Derelict being intercepted and deliberatly stopped from ever reaching earth. Knowing Ridley however it could very well be something completely different and we just don't know anyting for sure...YET!

FanMarch 14, 2012
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, "no, we have not seen the ending."
We have viewed and analyzed not even 2 minutes of the movie. We don't know if the interviews are the real truth and we havnt been able to view any scene for more than mere seconds. I think a lot of our assumptions about the storyline and sequence of events are based on thorough scrutiny of what we've seen, but to think we know what's going to happen, well that's a bit presumptive.
For all we know, every thing we have viewed happens in the first hour of the film. If Ridley told the truth and most of the movie is set in space, than maybe all we have seen is the mere basics of how an alien gets on board the ship ride home. Pure assumption, of course, just like all the rest.
ALL generalizations are WRONG!
GhorgulMarch 14, 2012
I'd say that we haven't seen the ending.
Also the trailer is most probably cut so that the pieces we see dont happen in chronological order in the movie, because they really don't make sense atm.
Everything seen in trailer happens probably within 30min, maybe even 20min of the movie.

RuhaniyaMarch 14, 2012
Judging from interviews from Sir R Scott we are told that at the last 8 minutes of the film we will see the Juice! everything builds up to that point so the question is IF the planet they are on is LV-426, if not it could mean there are more derelict crafts?

Two Joints and a Timex should be offered when the derelict gets to Earth...
Or it could get worse

latinhypercubeMarch 14, 2012
Thanks for all the great feedback !
Here is mine...
1)We DO know the ending because this film IS a prequel to Alien.
2)The derelict is for sure the same ship as Alien. These things are grown and probably unique.
3)If only Theron and Rapace are left after the crash, then that must be very close to the end of the film (last 20min ?). How long is their air going to last ? But as I stated, there is of course going to be a twist. Someone has to lay the eggs, and the derelict is mostly intact. I'm guessing it's Theron or Rapace
On another note. I'm sure the film starts with discovering a Space Jockey Dome (Terraforming Dome?) on Earth, since this shot is in the first trailer. I would also hazard a guess that it is found under the Antarctic after it melts (rushing water, plus shots of the Earth with no Antarctic). This is Weyland's catalyst for his terraforming tech.
The crew then travel to another Dome on LV-426
It's kind of hokey though. I hope Scott isn't trying to suggest human evolution never happened, probably not, probably just terraforming the Earth... Though there is that human head in the temple dome... Hmmmm

SpartacusMarch 14, 2012
and If they go in that direction it is my HUMBLE opinion the film will fail miserably...any tie in to anything even mentioned in the AVP series will completely ruin this films credibility entirely for me.

FanMarch 14, 2012
@latinhypercube. Again you are assuming one hell of a lot. Where did you ever see in the alien films that they grew the SJ ships? Oh right! You havnt... Books, comics, Giger art, I dont care...the movies are all we can legitimately create a hypothetical storyline from
I would agree however that if they took elements from the formentioned, it woe be quite cool.
ALL generalizations are WRONG!

latinhypercubeMarch 14, 2012
@Nrlfetmefan
Yes, of course I am assuming a hell of a lot. That is the whole point of this post and others, theorizing what this film will be (If that offends you then why are you here ?).

EGR101March 14, 2012
Charlize Theron plays an Evil Queen who sucks young girl's soul in the live action SNOW WHITE which opens one week before PROMETHEUS.

Apologies...no offense meant.
It seemed like you were writing in a very "matter of fact" fashion. I feel it necessary to point out sometimes to people when they are doing this, simply because no one here really know the facts.
You started a good thread though and kudos for the ideas and the images.
ALL generalizations are WRONG!

craigamoreMarch 14, 2012
Agreed irishandroid1...."I love all the theorizing!!!!", but I also prefer educated guessing to wild speculation, but that's a personal preference and I mena no disrespect to you or anyone else on this forum.
snugsMarch 14, 2012
I dont think the eggs are going to be laid by any human, at least I hope they aren't. Even if a human was impregnated by a SJ / alien life form the idea that the human reproductive cycle somehow reverts to laying eggs as opposed to giving birth to an infant would not stand up and would probably end up being quite silly. This is science FICTION but that idea is just too far gone and not really in line with the original movie.
The idea that eggs are made from either living human material (as in the deleted scene from Alien) or some kind of product from a different reproductive process is more probable, just my opinion though....
20thcenturybuickMarch 14, 2012
perhaps the jockeys are going to earth the exterminate us so the remaining crew of the prometheus crash into them to stop them...but if people were getting into escape pods why are they also running on the ground from the crashing derelect

MarcusMarch 14, 2012
@jim jimmer thanks for posting your pic, the glimpses I saw of the spacecraft in the trailers it's been bothering me that the ships although similar were not quite the same.

IrishAndroid1March 14, 2012
@Craigamore.....it takes a lot more then that for me to feel disrespected. That's your opinion and I respect that! :)
