MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 2:15 PMAs with any speculation until the film comes out, it is entirely possible. I personaly think the connection to Alien will be more subtle. Maybe we won't even see what transpired with the Space Jockey and the Derelict from Alien, but the last living survivor on the planet through Alien tech. will send a message warning any travelers to stay away from the planet and being alien tech. will be decoded into alien language therefore not understood by humans on the Nostromo. They just pick up some sort of distress signal. We then could infer that Weyland Industries picked up the signal and set in motion a plan to put the Nostromo on course to the area and pick up from there. You don't actually have to show what happens just plant the seed of the distress signal being sent at the end of the film.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 2:29 PMI agree but it would be a cool way for the space jockey to die if he was running around in Prometheus and then tried to leave the planet, connecting the two films leaving him in the pilot chair for the next crew to find.
Someone or something has got to be flying the ship when it crashes just wondering why does it crash.
I dont think we will see an original xenomorph / chestburster exploding from a SJ chest It would be to cheesy but cheesy cool.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 2:34 PMI say The FaceHugger was created the moment the ship crashed and that a lot of vials containing preprogrammed Xenomorphs was sent to destroy EARTH. I say that The Company has deliberatly brought it down to prevent it from reaching it's destination and that this caused the Jockeys fate to be sealed.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 2:38 PMWeyland Industries behind a noble cause, I'm not buying it. Lol
I do like your theory a lot though Spartacus.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 2:42 PMIf the Chestburster bursts out of the SJ and the 'derelict' crashes as a result, it seems to me that would be a little close to what happenned in AVPR, where the pred-alien chestburster erupts from the predator and the predator ship crashes as an indirect result.
I only saw AVPR once, and I don't have plans to review that one, so someone correct me if that's not what happenned. Just seems to me that would resemble, a little too closely, a movie NO ONE (least of all Ridley Scott) wants to be reminded of.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 4:29 PMI doubt it for two reasons: 1) it would be poor writing. 2) big, Michael Bay-style explosions.

MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 4:38 PMHi everyone, just one thing I noticed is the planet in Alien has much more mountainous terrain than what we are seeing in the Prometheus trailers. Plus the derelict ship in Alien is lay on its belly whereas in the trailers its on its end. my guess is its either a different plane and ship or the planet somehow blows up causing the terrain we see in Alien which is years after the prometheus period. Just a thought ...

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 6:49 PMThe terrain is not the same and that is enough to convince me that there might be multiple versions of the derelict and if it is not then it could of ended up on LV-426 via wormhole? As for our space jockey having being impregnated...it could have been before it crashed or after. It doesn't really matter to the time but of how? Well time might matter? BUT Here's an idea for you lot...it's not a facehugger that did it but the snork it's self is a cybernetic creature that comes out of the telescopic control apparatus. This creature provides the psychic connection to control the ship? The pilot is sacrificed to birth the egg layer which lays the biomechanically morphic eggs after the cavern has been made also biomechanically, morphically illuminescent cybernetic worm inspired by bloody acid that comes from green crystals, facehuggers and Mentos.

No. It's is very obvious the Prometheus crashes into the derelict. There is debris of the Prometheus all over the ground as theron and rapace are running. Plus we see theron escape in an escape pod

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 1:24 AMThe Derelict is about to make an hyperspace jump when the Prometheus rams it. Then the Prometheus' explosion makes the Derelict crash, and when the Engineer ship is in the ground the hyperspace drive activates and sends the alien ship thousands of years into the past to a nearby planetoid... LV-426.

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 8:28 AMI still don't see the crash though!
Also I remember in ALIEN, the terrain around the Derelict was itself geologically active (steam jets and all) and had a Gigeresque biomechanical look, wierd shapes, giant hoses, etc. What if the same process that formed the egg chamber cave (assuming it is NOT the hold of the Derelict) also altered the appearance of the surface over the course of the 30 years between Prometheus and ALIEN. Reasonable right?
