The trailer starts off optimistic..they left us an "invitation" to find them..but "we were so wrong" it was not an invitation..they were not friendly they wanted us to find them to signal their return to earth.
this is my own deduction but i guarantee it will be a massive spoiler
"THEY USED THE XENOMORPHS TO RULE US" depictions of Anubis..the egyptian god with the head of a jackal..the fearsome beasts of lore..The xenomoprhs were the vicious guards controlled by the space jockeys that kept us in slavery. this is why the derelict is full of xeno eggs. they are returning to rule earth
"A king has his reign" egyptians pharoes ancient rulers aka the space jockeys used to put their organs in vessels for their "next life"
people in the trailer seem to be mutating into what i think are spacejockeys that have cheated death but putting themselves in the ampules only to live again once they come in contact with hosts

MemberOvomorphMar-19-2012 12:09 AMI honestly think they'd only briefly touch on it as all that stuff that you bring up is for backstory and has little bearing on the apparent story.
All they need to show: an Engineer creates life on earth and ancient civilizations leave hieroglyphs depicting it. Anything more would be too much.

we know they are going to earth and that there wont be any home left if they get there
why? the jockeys are returning to earth to rule once signaled by the expedition and they have a ship loaded with xenomorph eggs
the eggs in alien were not just laid..they are proteceted by a blue lazer and a fog that keeps them in a stasis..

But no, really, all that stuff might work as a side story at best (this is Alien, not Stargate). Nobody on the Prometheus crew cares if the Engineers used Xenomorphs to rule. All they care about is making it out alive.
For another thing, why would they need the Xenomorphs to rule? If the Engineers can fly in ships, that would be plenty for ancient cultures to worship them.

MemberFacehuggerMar-19-2012 1:01 AMI think that the "Engineer" race is depicted as the theoretical ancient astronauts. Unfortunately, they want to harvest the seed they've planted by annihilating a space faring culture and taking their resources. What better way to do that than engineer a biological weapon that will wipe out the indigenous population, and leave the infrastructure mostly intact? Remember that everything the Humans didn't destroy still worked on the Nostromo and LV-426/Archeron. Once the natives were dead they could probably introduce nanites or a virus to kill the Aliens and BOOM! Free planet. The Prometheus will stop the invasion, but it will set the weapon loose and render the engineers incapable of hitting the abort button. Which makes Weyland want it for themselves thus rerouting Nostromo.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

The explorers mistake the radio reading as an invitation but in fact is a trap by the king waiting for the next life form to enter the planet And use the old technology from the aliens as a form to colonize new worlds.. The signal is also picked up in ALIEN set by the astronauts as a warning. The jockey is a pet but to us he is an asset to weyland corporations. And the human alien at the beginning of the trailer is one of the astronauts left back after being infected with the engineers DNA.

MemberOvomorphMar-19-2012 4:10 AMok, when this is part of the plot this is bad. The role of Weyland corp and the their direct connection ,or better, plan then is not convincing.
