MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 8:30 AMAfter watching the new full length trailer it appears that what we all know as the space jockey is actually a suit of some description and not an actual creature,I find this quite disappointing after years of wondering,who/what they where and thought this film might explain all my unanswered questions on the origins of the jockey, don't get me wrong still can't wait to see the film just always thought that it was an actual life form and never thought it would turn out to be a space suit for another creature lol.

MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 11:24 AMI think it's definitely a life form, but more symbiotic with the "occupant". It can't function normally alone, and must have a host to survive.

MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 2:06 PMWhat if everything was "alive"? The Engineer, the "Jockey", the Derelict ship itself?
What if everything is an advanced bio-mechanoid life form?

MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 3:36 PMI agree, maybe that suit is more like a life form, a parasite...In the trailers, he seems very organic, don't you think so?
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 3:55 PMEfr@ totally agree with you. What a disappointment the a space jockey is - not the suit but the obvious occupant. Why does it have to be so humanoid??? Anthropomorphically identical in most respects. Personally,I was really hoping for the space jockey to be as alien as the xenomorph - I will hate it if the space jockey turns out to be the lomg lost dad of humanity. From here on in, this is no longer any direct link to Alien, merely a reimagining. Just my opinion folks.

MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 4:06 PMI think there may be a possibility that Space Jockey is not even a suit, it is a device for reproduction, birthing, DNA mixing, or maybe it's the alien version of those Weyland Lazarus tech that is capable of reviving brain dead individuals for 50 years.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 6:31 PMHave to agree that the suit concept is very dissapointing and it could be the very thing that lets the film down for me.
Personally I almost wish that Ridley had not bothered with the whole Alien link now and just made the film as a completely seperate entity, minus the space jockey.
I dont want to sound negative as I honestly do think the film will be very good, technically brilliant, well acted, well directed with superb editing etc. At the same time I am concerned that the magic of the orignal SJ will be lost forever.......
I hope I am wrong.
