guys...... i think its a runway for the derelict. besides the fact that there is more then one temple, look at how straight it is.

@Rick
i know its underground but from what we have seen it looks like it is pushed up to the surface, levitates, then flies down the runway getting more momentum to go up. i mean we see the ground opening and the ship prepping, but we don't see actually take off do we?

invaderzim42,
How do you envision this as a runway?
Someone else needs to verify this photo please...

Hey zim really does work for Cheezburger doesnt he :P
I see what you are saying now. Yeah could be multiple hangars of those. So the question remains why aren't the other ships launching?

In the pic which Prometheus is landing. Can anyone else see top right side corner lots of housing at the hillside? Like an old city? Maybe im seeing things, too late for this should be in bead already. ^ ^

I dunno I'm looking way up to the right and not seeing it. I see a bunch of broken ledges, and Nazca style lines just to the right, but that's it. But hey Bio caught a squid coming out of Shaw yesterday and I couldn't see it, if that says anything.

dtrisml,

Yes, I definitely see multiple temples. I know others have said maybe each one is for a different species created on different planets. Also, if you look at the "Nazca" type patterns, they look like the launch pads from where the derelict rises out of the ground. From the trailer you can see, at least one ship rises up from right in front of the temple. (1:52 on the US Trailer) Also, adjacent to this shot is what I believe to be an overhead shot of the star map room's floor opening as the telescope and jockey seat begin to rise. But I digress.
Multiple pads means multiple ships to me. I believe after one ship is destroyed a secondary ship may launch and end up crashing later on LV-426.
Alternatively, Prometheus may cause the first derelict to crash, but the Engineers may repair it enough to launch again and end up crashing on LV-426 enroute to earth. The beacon would be sent to attract earthlings to eventually take the xenomorphs back to earth willingly or unwillingly to exterminate humankind.
I just don't believe the crash of the derelict is the climax. Likewise I don't believe the planet featured is LV-426. Based on Scott's comments, I'm not even convinced this film will reference LV-426 or what happened there. I think it will just tell the story of the Spacejockeys and it will incorporate elements Scott wanted in 1979 but wasn't able to get due to budget constraints.
