MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 5:15 AMI'm new here so before I start I'll just say Hi Guys.
I don't know if this has already been discussed on here but my question is this:
At the end of Alien 3 Ripley assumes the Bishop on LV is a synthetic "the same model as Bishop" but he states that he is human and designed the Bishop model on himself. When he's later attacked and bleeds red blood from a head wound this would seem to confirm this. But if this is the case how come Charles Bishop Weyland in AvP more than a hundred years earlier was identical to the Bishop in Alien 3?

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 5:29 AMdil_5, you see the blood on his hands after Aaron smacks him in the head with a pipe, so no, he's not a droid. He yells that at Ripley too...... ;-) and welcome to the forum :-)

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 5:36 AMI always assumed he was human due to fact he protested he was and due to the blood. But when AvP came along it threw up this little paradox (that is ofcourse only if like me you view the AvP films as canon). But since AvP I've had to change my pov and assume he's a droid. In one of the alien novels there is a droid that has red blood and isn't even aware that they are a droid so this could also explain the actions of the Bishop in Alien 3.

Co-AdminMemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 5:50 AMNah I reckon you're reading too much into that honestly. They were looking to end the Alien movies with 3, or at least Ripley's story. And I can't buy the AvP mvies as being "canon" to either the Predator OR the Alien universes. Sorry but I reckon you'd be hard pressed to find many people around here that would. I think I'm right......... Have I gotten to know the forum that well? ;-P and I never really read many of the Alien books or comics either........

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 6:01 AMdil_5, all I can say is that AVP is a whole different movie. Don't take that seriously.
By the way, when signing up, I was asked to give the answer to 6 +3 = ? to prove I'm not an synthetic. That's all kinds of wrong.. thought it should've been the other way arround: I should be asked to give a wrong answer to prove that.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 6:16 AMweiss i thought that was weird too, and started to wonder why synthetics wouldnt be allowed to join anyway lol. well, as long as they arent the same "buggy" model ash was. i dont think any of us want a magazine down our throat ~_^

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 6:44 AMIsn't the Bishop in ALIEN3 a clone of the one from AVP? Why did they set that in 2004 anyway?

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 7:09 AMno idea, i really really disliked alien 3. i try to pretend i never saw it in the first place, or that it never happened.... like a bad dream.
"in space, no one can hear that terrible movie"

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 7:14 AMAtropa. Yeah it's a poor movie but atleast it's not as bad as the AvP films. I actually quite liked Alien 3 and even Reserection to a certain degree.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 7:21 AMI like A3, especially the DC. I'm glad they changed the ox to a dog though for the TE because that alien would not be very scary coming from a cow - unless it had mad cow : P
AR is not as bad as some make out.
AVP and AVP-R could have been done better. I think these films are aimed more at PREDATOR fans than ALIEN fans.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 7:30 AMi didnt like the AVP movies either. i like AR much more then A3, but AR was one odd movie alright. i remember turning to my friend in the theater and saying "this is really weird....". they came out with some sweet action figures tho! i have boxes and boxes of xenomorph action figures, its sad.
i guess i only like ALIEN and ALIENS. ive been obsessed with aliens ever since i saw it as a kid and didnt see alien till many years later. my parents always told me not to bother watching ALIEN because it was really boring and not worth watching. UGH how dare they!

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 7:39 AMHello!
I'm a newbie here to the site and as many others here, I am truly pumped for this new film! In reply to the question, I truly believe Bishop was a more advanced android. But, that makes me wonder if the folks running the Weyland-Yutani company in the Alien films are androids themselves? The reason I say that is because of how emotionless the company reps were in Aliens when Ripley was trying to explain what happened to the rest of the Nostromo crew. Then, there's the point that Ash reinforced the fact that the company wanted the organism at all costs. It's just a little theory, but after seeing the various trailers for this new film, as well as the Weyland TED 2023 video, I'm starting to wonder more about the company itself...

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 7:49 AMthats hard to say, a lot of reps in corperations are emotionless but they are still human haha. they care more about the ship ripley destroyed then the people on it... thats pretty typical.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 9:57 AMin the credits, isn't he listed as Bishop 2? Figured he was altered to fool Ripley.
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 6:38 PMI always figured that the Bishop in ALIEN3 was probably a modified, red blooded android...or a clone. I mean...his ear is hanging off his face after 85 pops him with the pipe. But, that still doesn't prove any thing one way or another. And even though I am very disappointed with ALIEN3, ALIEN RES., AVP & AVP:R, I still try to make them all work together, in regard to continuity. Just keeps getting harder and harder...and now there's PROMETHEUS...Jeez!

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 8:50 PMI assumed he was real because I figured in that day you could probably custom order synthetics to look like anyone including yourself. You know people would pay for it.
Plus he said he designed it. And the synth Bishop was pretty stoic while the real one shouted "no" when she jumped.

The AVP series originally started as a comic book/novel that started in the late 1980s. The movies were pure rubbish as all of the comics took place in the same time frame as the Aliens movie franchise, with earth colonizing other worlds. The comics focused strictly around a single character Machiko Noguchi, who after being one of the only surviving colonists of Rhynth is rewarded when the lead predator of the hunt on Rhynth named "Broken Tusk" places his mark upon her, she is later accepted into the predators culture, blah blah blah, other comics with some minor characters that dont matter, some of them have USCMC in them just like in the games when they go to investigate why a colony went silent just like in Aliens with Lv-426, so yeah. I know I'm a nerd
