I always thought it was strange that at 4 seconds in to the Ted video Peter Weyland's face is completely blocked by a giant head in the foreground. Crappy footage, why would the cam be so low? Watching the 2'23 trailer, I thought the profile looks an awful lot like Guy Pierce, so blocking that one shot of weyland from that same angle as the veiny guy seems to make a lot more sense, from a director's point of view.
The only shot of Weyland in the Ted talk video that matches the angle of the veiny guy is a single frame at 02:04:10. The angle mentioned 4 seconds in would have been a perfect shot to use for matching the profile but this is good enough.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 4:48 PMhmmmmmm good catch. i heard people saying it was david but i dont know if that was clarified, this on the other hand looks really close, but i dont think weiland himself is on the Prometheus mission so idk.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 4:50 PMyou know, that looks good. I don't know if it will be Weyland, but with all the talk about bio mechanical and things, I am starting to think that this transforming guy is David. It appears that this person is not feeling any pain because in the small shot, it looks like the skull is caving in and changing. Maybe that the thing bouncing back and forth that David is looking at could mutate him. This may have been touched on already by someone else so if so, sorry.

ok.. but "we are the gods now" (in 2023) pretty much leaves it all up for grabs.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 4:53 PMThis person is just watching himself change without concern or pain, albeit a really short clip.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 4:56 PMmy guess would be its david too, if that was happening to me id be freaking the F out.
its hard to say, the profile looks good but both he and david have those faces that looked like they were carved out of stone lol.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 5:03 PMMaybe David turns Ash like and goes evil or becomes self aware? he absorbes whatever and starts to mutate. when he says, "big things have small beginings", I think he is already changing and is the 'Monster" at the end of the full trailer at Saws feet.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 5:28 PMI actually wanted to silence my own curiosity by doing the frame by frame profile comparisons because I have no explanation for this veiny guy ending up to actually be Weyland. It turns out the jaw lines match pretty remarkably closely, so of course I had to share.
in terms of fully understanding or explaining anything, I'm pretty sure m-theory will play a bigger part in this movie than most people might be currently imagining it will.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 7:26 PMI'm not entirely sure that the frame from the trailer represents an event AFTER the Prometheus goes to LV 426 for the simple fact that there is a waterfall in the background. It's possible that this is part of the "opening" that apparently happens on a young earth or earth-like planet.
Then again, it's possible that a crew member makes it back to Earth and crashes somewhere (Iceland, maybe?) and this is the result of their transformation... which would explain why Weyland was so interested in going back to LV 426 in Alien.
One thing that doesn't quite add up is that the company made sure the Nostromo would hone in on the derelict's distress/warning call, with the mission of bringing back an alien specimen. Soooo, if the xenomorph didn't exist prior to the events in Prometheus, how did they know it was there? Or maybe Weyland didn't actually know specifically what was there, just that something was....

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 7:38 PMAfter watching the trailer again and the voice over mentioned "a king" I got to thinking about that to. Then someone caught the image of an elderly looking man in a spacesuit in the trailer. So I figured Weyland may have a motive for going on the mission to find the secret to immortality. He already has delusions of being a god. Seemed to make sense that could have been him in that scene.
Good catch.

MemberOvomorphMar-21-2012 11:20 PMHere is what I got from the trailers. Possible spoiler so don't read but I think I have the vein thing figured out. sorry for mispells was in a hurry and the post is huuuge.
I am not sure what reason the jockey's have those tubular "eggs" aboard their ship, but it is a bit obvious the humans stumble upon the eggs and the doctor gets it stuck to his hand and he either morphs out or wants his hand cut off with the thing attached to him or he changes. Later in the clips you see several others with the veins at different stages. I would say the thing infects you and you go "veiny". I would also say the infected turn all the way and take over a ship to go back to earth with the eggs. I think the veins are the sign of the infection, you loose your hair and morph a bit. Mr vein might also breathe the atmosphere since you see 3 shots of the vein monster morphed with no suit on. I am not sure what pants he has on but they look almost like it is a part of his body. In the clips one of these vein monsters attacks from above, looks like 2 humans in suits below. It also looks like they fight him off and torch him in a fire. The same vein guy or another infected human is using the ship to leave the planet.
You also see the a dark haired character turning into vein woman but then goes medical and seems to have removed the monster from her. She is then on the floor with mr vein standing over her. She probably dies.
Later on the human ship is used to ram the jockey ship forcing it back down to the planet. This would explain why the jockey ship is there and that possibly the humans set the warning beacon on the planet for the future after they destroyed the jockey ship. I would also say theron is either in an escape pod or a emergency life raft leaving the ship while the captain rams the jockey ship.
The space jockeys may show up later or they use that planet as a prison or isolation planet. Not sure how or why they are their and then the vein monster is seen walking to the captains chair from the first aliens movie.
I feel the planet they are going to has some type of atmosphere with clouds, rain, lightening, mountains and possibly the water fall. If you watch the trailer of the Prom landing you will see most of these. I think the vein person in the begining is there to throw it off a bit. That would be an infected human but one that changed on the planet. Perhaps that is someone that excaped the crashing ship ram...hint hint..
In trailer from 12 22 at 0:32, you see elephant head space jockey on the exam table as if it is dead. Freshly dead. This makes me go back tot he isolation planet and the humans stumble upon the egss and the elephant jockeys come to stop them but the humans kill the elephant thinking it was hostile. In another scene you see a human in a space suit with the helmet melting or fogging up. Not sure why but it is like acid.
shaw is definitely on the ground when jockey space ship is crashing. Something else I notice was the waterfall scene with no vein person...It seems as if there is a huge dome pie tin space ship above the waterfall. In another scene you can see something streaking in the sky like leaving a vapor trail. Maybe the is Therons escape pod going to earth and she is vein girl and the big ship is there to capture her.
geeze...lots of weird theories...Wish the movie was coming out this weekend so I could stop thinking about it and just find out the answers.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:56 AMWhat if David only infects himself so that he can fight off another mutated androidish creature? I mean if a synthetic can get infected by this stuff he's being pretty careless with it, isn't he?. I definitely think he wants to be infected... but I don't know for sure that he's evil. It's like he wants the power, but in a good way, he doesn't mind the pain because he's ready to sacrifice himself for the crew over his former master after gaining freewill. Maybe that wasn't an evil smile necessarily. Remember this movie is partially "through the robot's eyes". It seems strange to make David the evil android.
He also seems to already kind of know how this situation works... "big things have small beginnings", It would be different from the typical evil alien role... we could still have one of those, and he could have already seen what's happened to the other mutated android and characters... What if he needs this size changing ability to fight it out with the main threat in the film, and doesn't become a human like some have speculated, but a good version of something else? Able to fight off the monsters and giants.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 4:46 PMLooking at that scene brings to mind the statement from The Bible that says,"Ezekiel saw the wheel turning in the sky."(or something like that.) Anyways, it gives me the idea that as the human(oid) sees the ship, perhaps a blast from the ship into the water causes the person to decay. Strange explanation, I know, but this film touches on ideas of evolution that opens our minds to new ones.
