Any news on what Ridley revealed at WonderCon?

There is plenty of coverage of it on the web and once again, Scott alluded to a possible sequel when he said: [i]"If we're lucky, there'll be a second part. It does leave you with some nice open questions."[/i] Now, as happy as I am thinking that Scott would be on board for a sequel, it leaves me a little concerned that by the end of the movie, there would still be a considerable gap between Prometheus and the beginning of Alien. And since there is absolutely no guarantee that a sequel would happen, we could be left with permanent questions by the time Prometheus runs it's end-credits.

This movie won't bookend to Alien. They've confirmed that several times.

In case he decides to make another film, I hope he will approach it as a separate entity just like Prometheus.

I like the idea of having open questions if a sequel doesn't get made. John Carpenter's films usually are like that. Leaves a lot to the imagination and allows for many theories. Take for example "The Thing" what happens after the camp explodes? Do Childs and MacReady get rescued? Do they freeze to death? Are one of them the Thing? Sometimes when they do make a follow up film it just ruins it. I hated the recent Thing movie telling the story about what happened at the Norwegian camp. Felt like they were just trying to tie up loose ends, didn't feel natural.

Hope to god it dosn't link to Aliens, that film started to devaluation of Alien, reducing it from a single unresistable predator to a bloody grasshopper (cricket).

@Graphix67 Q: Does it rule out doing an actual Alien prequel? DL: No, I don’t think it does. I think that there might actually be people out there who watch Prometheus and say, “This is an Alien prequel” but it’s a prequel in sort of a different sense than I’m used to. Isn’t it more interesting to think of a movie that takes place in the Alien universe, there are some familiar things that you will see along the way but if there were a sequel to Prometheus, it would not be Alien. That to me had to be the goal. God willing, if Prometheus is successful, and there is a sequel, it won’t be Alien because the end of this movie, if this movie is A to Z, Z is not there’s a bunch of eggs laying on the floor of LV-426. Z in this movie is entirely different although people will watch this movie and say, “I feel like I have a different contextual framework now for the original Alien, I’m going to watch it again.
