Frantz - in my opinion, too similar to Alien chestburster moment.

I think there's more to that scene that will cause it to be somewhat more disturbing than the burster scene.

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

I think that there's some kind of Gigeresque worm transfer in the scene where Noomi and Logan are kissing, ending with the scene with him holding his head at the edge of the bed and her lying battered and bruised. I think that there is a whole sexual element that none if the trailers have eluded to yet.

Sounds like rape to me and not sci-fi. I really do think RS has a serious wow moment in store for us - nothing we've seen before!

you know, the more I see these trailers and all the talk I read and hear around here, I am getting the sence that this will be rated R. What do you all think?

I certainly hope it will be rated R. If it won't be, I'll be disappointed.

@bigbirdjimmy i was thinking the same thing but then i thought, there does not seem to be much gore in the movie and the only other 2 things that can really get a movie an R rating is cursing and to much sexual innuendo, and unlike in alien where they are truck drivers, these are science officers who probably curse much less, and as far as we know there is only one sex scene that probably wont be that reveling. so i think that it will be PG-13 but just making the cut, like super 8, that movie was on the edge of R, there was some gore, lots of violence, they said pussy like 50 times, and they even dropped the F bomb once. i would not mind if Prometheus was on that kind of level of violence.

@invaderzim42, I agree. If it is rated R, I will be fine with that. If it is PG-13, I will be fine with that too because Ridley will make the best movie he can. It doesn't necessarily have to be R to be good. In Ridley Scott I trust.

why does everyone want it R???? i mean, i wish that the studio would allow the R rating, to give Scott more artistic will but beyond that there is really no reason for it to be R. a lot of people were actually hoping for NC-17 but why? the only thing that can really get that kind of rating is a very very explicit sex scene, gore cant really get that kind of rating alone, and i really have no desire for there to be something like that in Prometheus.

@Spacey Man Yes it does. But if you remember Lamberts death scene in Alien ie the tail between the legs cut to Ripley in the cock pit, this element was always there. If you remember some of Ridleys Commentarys on the film its something that he deliberately added. Also Gigers imagery has obvious connotations.

@bigbirdjimmy yeah i am perfectly okay with the pg-13 rating, and besides, the directors cut and/or special edition will most likely be rated R.

@invaderzim I know what you mean, I can do without overly explicit stuff in the film, but who knows how far they are willing to take it.

I don't think we'll get anything worse than a scene equivalent to Alien chestburst scene - lots of blood. I don't think we'll see anything gory. But, I still hope it's rated R. Star Wars, except for the last one, were rated PG. This movie deserves more than a PG 13 rating.

@invaderzim42, I had no idea that some people want NC-17. There is no reason for that. You know what kinda movies have that rating. Prometheus is not one of them. I, and I think I can speek for most people in this forum, we want a great movie. Not trash.

I agree with Frantz. I think it mostly has to have something to do with that Squid we see near Shaw's head.

to me the 2 most creepy parts of the trailer are not to me the ones regarding shaw in the bed ... 1) is vickers standing in the middle of the corridor 2) is Ford trembling and awaiting her fate i dont know if that scenes lead to gore but are more freightening ( to me ) than a squid removed from the belly ( however ive to see that to give a final opinion :p )

I am with you on that Frantz. My thoughts on the Vickers character has really changed from seeing that and from the new TV spot. Ford having that seizure is just plain weird.

@Frantz, OH yes, the slid bit of of the trailer where the camera pans to Vickers standing near the opening of the corridor. CREEPY! That genuinely made me unsettled.

I have hopes that there will be a viscerally disturbing and frightening scene in PROMETHEUS…a la chestburst. Scott said as much during the St. Paddy’s Day Q&A. And yeah…I agree with most, that it’ll have something to do with Shaw. He also said that he is actually embarrassed by the scene…I like it already. Just like in the original ALIEN and H.R. Giger’s work, unnerving but interesting, ugly…but beautiful…you shouldn’t look…but you can’t help yourself. As far as the rating goes…I think that PG-13 has almost become the new R anyway. So, I think they will go the mass audience, family-friendly, boxoffice route. Personally, I prefer an “R” rating for any ALIEN related films. One of the filmmakers who worked on the original in ’79 once said, “If STAR WARS is the Beatles…ALIEN is the Rolling Stones." I fucking love that! That’s the way I feel about…nothing profound…you either get it or you don’t. If yo a squirmin'...at least a little...the filmmakers failed...or you're dead. Personally, I like my “ALIEN universe” films the way I like my women, great to look at, smart, a little humor, mysterious, thrilling, with a little nasty sluttiness sprinkled on top. ~Neurion

@Neurion I totally agree with you. Think of the release of Alien. It's been told the images and violence of Alien 1979 were so graphic and so violent as well as frightening ppl left the theaters due to the fact they couldn't take the "horror." How in this day and age will Ridley Scott surpass this delivery of horror at a PG-13 level?!?,?! Impossible! I'm not the only one eagerly anticipating this film. I'm not the only one with absolute highest of expectations. I want Prometheus' release to scar and horrify it's viewers! I vote for the full R rated release! Nothing but Sir Ridley Scott's unadultered pure version of sic-fi horror! Prometheus is the evolved 20th century version of the genre he created and I want it to be as spectacular, as horrifying as scarring as the first release of Alien! If not better

As far as creepy moments in the trailer, I vote for the guy with his hands in the air approaching a craft of some sort. It became even creepier when the still revealed that the top of his skull had been replaced with . . . something else. Sorry, I can't find the HD still anywhere, it's at 1:12 in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqZAcjAxomQ&feature=related

I think the question posed to Ridley about the chesterburster scene/will there be a similar "Wow" scene in prometheus was pointed at the actors not knowing what was going to happen in the scene to get a reaction. Not necessarily a chestburster scene, but lots of genuinely shocked and frightened actors.

Ridley Scott is recognized as not merely a great film director, but the preeminent living director in the industry and he will get the R rating that he wanted going into this project..and as a nod to the concerns and marketing sensibilities of Fox, he will also have the PG-13 version.....look for both versions to play side by side in multitheater complexes. At Scott's age, with his past experience, he gets what he wants...Period. And he knows perfectly well how to cut a deal where everyone wins. Guess this thread got diverted from the original focus.....

I believe we've already seen one in the trailer...we simply didn't recognize it as a 'wow' moment, although it is impressive on it's own.....we can't see it as it's intended until we are in a theater. And I also believe it's the first of several in the film, each 'moment' utilizing more and more 3D....the first big 'moment' will be the scene in which the theater in which you are sitting and watching this film is filled with that dazzling image in full blown 3D of the star map room, surrounding you in your seat as well as Fassbender as the screen.
