MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 4:22 PMAh! Nice! Is that why they are going at the Jockeys' hardware... Could Prometheus be... a second contact?

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 4:33 PM"It seemed pretty obvious Weyland was along for the ride, as soon as we saw a frail astronaut - it doesn't exactly pay to crew your top-of-the-line spaceship with frail old folks. But thanks for proving it!"
That's why Scott said he didn't want to say whether or not Guy Peirce would appear later in the film because it would touch to the plot...

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 4:40 PMi'm not 100% convinced yet, has a mark in the same place on left cheek as the prematurely aged holloway

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 4:45 PMthis was discussed before. people were almost certain its Weyland. He's also sitting in a wheel chair in a later scene when Shaw comes back to the crew from surgery...

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 5:05 PMsilica, this is correct, the scenes with an old man in a wheelchair and standing with a cane have been online for weeks, and I've always believed it to be Weyland, but there have always been doubters. IMO there hasn't been a pic (that I've seen anyway) that puts it to bed like this one.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 5:12 PMWell that Answers my question that I had about the corporate timeline in the viral weyland site paid no homage to sir Peter's passing. It stops mentioning him at some point all together, an usually when corporate founders die, their companies add that to their timelines and such.
So if he was in his thirties at the time of the 2023 TED talks, how il is he in the film! Has he aged past the average lifespan??

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 5:24 PMI think you're right. The two mercenaries are there as his personal bodyguards.

silica
MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 5:24 PMPeople also guessed that this would mean there are two sets of crew: the science crew and the 'bodyguards' for Weyland. Hence you see a bunch of guys with weapons escorting him.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 5:26 PMShadow - the viral site's Investor Info Page says right up top *average* life expectancy for Weyland employees is 95. Wouldn't that jibe with Weyland's age in the movie?

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 5:27 PMHi,I am new on here so please cut me some slack.
I am a massive fan of Alien and have been getting very excited ever since I heard that Ridley Scott was going back to a genre he created and owned.
I am of the opion that weyand has stolen something from the SJ before and is back for a second time.
He may look old and frail but he sure does resemble IMO an Alien (very long arms and strange hands)
Having stollen from SJ before to potienally live longer -could he now be turning into something and is back to try and get a cure ?
By doing this it has disastrous consequences for him and the crew and possibly all mankind!
Just a thought .....

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 5:39 PMThe Weylandindustries " time line does "hint" or confirms "He"-Weyland anticipates to visit the sites" in question, The " area to be utilized or colonized! Scott also said at AMC reveal that G Pierce is in the film for more than 5 minutes! Yes thats him and those are his bodyguards, and that poor sap is 20 light years from a nursing home!

Yeah possibly, I just didn't have a handy calculator to do the math at the time I posted that. Was walking home from coffee at the mall, and reding this site on the phone. Sure the phone has a calculator, but that would mean too much app flipping and data searching while walking. Only so much multi-tasking I am capable of doing at the time!
So lets put my question to rest now:
Date of birth: October 1, 1990
Prometheus Date: , 2085
--------------
Age at time 95
There! Now that I had a regular browser at my disposal and a calculator we get the answer to my question. So yes by Weyland Industries Corporate Expected Lifespan it is possible for the old geezer to be present in the film lol.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 6:51 PMOriginally I was thinking he was going to be become the SJ, I saw him in the trailer and the situation from the clip gives me the impression he shows up after the Prometheus crew find the pyramid and the urns. Once David discovers the secrets of their contents I believe he notifies Weyland who was probably shortly behind them in another ship. The guys with guns probably seize control of the situation to allow him to retrieve his prize. I believe he believes whatever they find may be the key to his longevity.
This is speculation but it makes sense. Weyland has already indicated he considers himself a god and a god must live forever. I also believe his end is not pleasant, hence the title for the movie. In the original Alien movie from a deleted scene added to the directors cut. Dallas and Brett are being turned into eggs.
I know this scene was intended to be part of the story from before filming started because the scene was part of Sigourney Weavers test scenes.
I still think he is due a fate worthy of his hubris.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 7:35 PMI just went through all three and the IMAX trailer is the only one with a comparable angle....not sure it produces that pic though...

Biomechanic
MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 7:42 PMFrame stepped through all the trailers I can think of including the IMAX but can't find that particular shot.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 7:55 PMMaybe, maybe...I don´t like it. "Evil corporation" was a novelty back in the seventies and still has its charms (given the 2008 debacle), but the "mad scientist" trope is too much backwards.
But...why these guys are wearing their helmets inside Prometheus? Lack of atmosphere or fear of contamination?

Biomechanic
MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 7:56 PMIt's almost looking photoshoped to me now but I sware I did see something like it somewhere... I am looking for an explanation not confirmation. The face of the guy in the clips I have looks different. I am starting to think that two old men come through that door.

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 7:57 PMthey're wearing helmets because they're walking out into the cargo bay

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 8:14 PMSo these are all the same guy?

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 8:29 PMBiomechanic, I believe so. And another still photo you missed. One of the man jumping in mid- air onto Shaw. That's him too, I think...

Biomechanic
MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 8:36 PMThe first 2 pictures I posted might be the same guy and the last 2 might be the same guy but I am not convinced they are all the same guy. I also think mowhawk mutant guy is a whole other ball of wax. I do think this new picture looks like Weyland though.
