Prometheus sequel

The first thing is that a queen alien will pop out of the space jockey and lay a bunch of eggs in the derelict, something which only has to be hinted at in this movie. Then there is the merger of Weyland and Yutani, something that does't have to be shown yet, but would be cool in a sequel. Like, the new management shows how evil it really is by making the first retrieval attempt with crew that is ignorant of their motives.

arent we running a bit too much since we dont even know the plot of Prometheus 1 ?
Im pretty sure there will be not queen in Scott's Alien universe ( that wont mean that there cant be a Queen ) and i also think that Scott use the whole Weyland story as a nice toy for featurettes and backgrounds , he will not dig too much into that .

Not sure if the sequel is a good idea, as I've always imagined Prometheus as an eerie standalone movie with even more questions than answers, and not a new franchise.

I agree to Frantz,
the focus is less about Weyland Yutani or to show how the SJ
from Alien got victimized by a chestburster.
Prometheus is more about the background of the SJ and
the continues the obsession of man to control everything i guess.
From the scenes we see David, he seems to be not better than Ash
but also obsessed with obtaining new technology of biological
research.

I think it is possible that the reason the alien xenos are so formidable in the Alien movies is because they are all direct descendants of the xeno that pops out of the space jockey. The reason being that the SJ is super advanced, so the xeno would also be an advanced version, since it is really a hybrid creature that takes on characteristics of whatever it busted out of. Maybe the xenos retain the best dna from every iteration, even if it switches to different hosts down the road.

I agree about David, he will probably be the scariest android of all the Alien movies. The casting of Prometheus looks awesome.

Okay first off...
A QUEEN WILL NOT BURST FROM THE SPACE JOCKEY
The ship was already carrying eggs, the eggs are its cargo.
Secondly, a sequel to Prometheus would take the original elements in Prometheus and run with them, distancing from the Alien side of the franchise and creating it's own sub-franchise.

I'm with Frantz and Snorkelbottom:
Mr Scott has said himself along with Mr. Fassbender, that any subsequent sequels will move farther away from Alien and that they won't connect the stories with the crashed derelict that is seen in Alien. The reason? Because the movie would be too obvious - we'd all know the ending. They want to keep us excited/scared and entertained.
And I for one, am totally up for that!

@ Snorkelbottom
i think that's exactly what RS or Linde said about a possible sequel to Prometheus

ShinobiX9XMarch 26, 2012
My bad, thought you meant that's the reason there won't be a sequel to it.
but about Alien and the egg cargo.
What would be the hole in the fossilized spacejockey, and what happened?

GavinMarch 26, 2012
@shinobi - The eggs are covered with a layer of blue laser-mist, to either warn the pilot of their escape or to warn the eggs of a nearby host, or both. Therefore they are cargo. The hole in the Space Jockey's (which was not fossilized) chest was the result of falling foul to its cargo, underlining the dangerous nature of the creature - if the creator of the xeno can't control it how can we ever hope to (but does WY heed the message, of course not).
The resulting, Space Jockey born xeno IS NOT a Queen, but will most likely be a generic-ish Alien, of whose story has not been told yet.

GavinMarch 26, 2012
Leaving unanswered questions and not concluding all narrative elements is what all the good stories do, and is one of the main reasons that Alien is considered a Classic.

craigamoreMarch 26, 2012
Exactly what I posted in this thread Snorky.....Why Dan O'Bannon was right.....
'Alien' is a classic, in part, because it leaves those questions unanswered....

GavinMarch 26, 2012
Exactly Craigamore, all the best stories leave things open, 2001 being the perfect example.
EbugogoMarch 26, 2012
Hope this doesn't post twice, but why wouldn't the alien that pops out of the space jockey be a queen?

GavinMarch 26, 2012
As I already said...
A QUEEN WILL NOT BURST FROM THE SPACE JOCKEY
The ship was already carrying eggs, the eggs are its cargo.
