Shaw's_sweet_baby
MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 5:20 PMThis is just a thought but could the chestburster-like creature we see in the trailer actually be a result from Shaw and Holloway making out after Holloway gets infected with those weird wormy creatures we see in his eyes. If you slow down the clip in the trailer where the creature is being removed from Shaw's stomach you'll notice something that looks a lot like an umbilical cord. In the original Alien we see nothing like that when the creatures burst from their victims' stomachs. Just thought this was worth mentioning... What are your thoughts on this?

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 5:28 PMI'm leaning towards she was pregnant before the trip. He gets infected and when they get it on he passes it over to her mutating the embryo.

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 5:35 PMMidnightHorrors: That is definitely also a very plausible theory... Can't wait to see what this movie will turn out to be.

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 5:35 PMMidnightHorrors i agree i bet she was early pregnant and then when they do it again he was infected and it goes inside her and messes up the baby and it turns into.......... a chest..................... maybe a squid............ I Don't KNOW WHAT THE HELL IT IS!!!!!!!!!!

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 5:35 PMI can also see the cord. We do see her getting close to someone in the trailer. That said though whos to know if she isn't attacked. SIR Scott in his interview with Q&A did say he was embaressed in some parts as the how horrific this film could be ? Could she be impregnated agaisnt her will by the SJ's which would possibly account for her being very upset futher on in the trailer.

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 5:57 PMMidnightHorrors - I don't think she was pregnant before she went on this trip. They are in cryo-stasis for at least 2 1/2 to 5 years for this trip. That's a world record pregnancy!

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 6:04 PMThe stasis drops body function to bare minimum so cells don't need oxygen. The method currently used to preserve embryos is cryo in liquid nitrogen.

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 6:28 PMYou may be right about preserving embryos in liquid nitrogen but why subject a pregnant woman to all the rigors of a pregnancy before blasting off on a long trip. The Prometheus plot is already convulted enough without adding a pre-existing condition. Have a little mercy and sanity............please!

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 6:40 PMIt was the only thing I could think of without turning it into a Alien prequel I'm hoping it isn't. In Alien it only took a few hours for the thing to grow to the size of a chihuahua.

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 6:49 PMno way she was pregnant before the trip. no woman on the planet would fly to another universe newly pregnant, and no way it wouldve not been noticed in a physical.
im thinking shaw and holloway do it after hes infected. the disease could surely advance the growth of an embryo from 9 months to a few hours

MidnightHorrors
MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 6:59 PMThat's the thing it was so early it would have been missed. The trip does take a few years the whole time they are in stasis it would have developed much slower.

Hi big pig
MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 8:22 PMLike hicksandhudson said, pregnancies are not missed in a physical. Even early pregnancies are immediately revealed - I don't think shaw is pregnant before the trip

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 9:04 PMAs body horror goes, I imagine the only thing more disturbing than giving birth to a monster, is likely the implication that the monster was seeded inside you sexually.
Yeah, that is disturbing, Cronenberg territory, and if true I wouldn't worry much about the film getting the more adult rating. Freaks me out even thinking about it.
I wouldn't expect many dates to get very far following this film.
Of course, the question that is first on my mind: how does she escape this predicament, and what happens to that sweet little baby?

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 9:13 PMi wonder if it will bear a slight resemblance to her father later

MemberOvomorphMar-26-2012 10:20 PMThe problem I have with this whole pregnant creature is that this thing is way to big to have come out of her without any complications to the "mother". Holloway ages fast so it stands that this thing will grow fast but come one..that thing would have done some serious damage on her insides. Her belly would have to be huge but we see her stumbling around later looking normal in that area...there is no room in her small frame for something that big with flopping tentacles.

I think they exaggerate the size just to make it more of a spectacle.

MemberOvomorphMar-27-2012 7:30 PMread famished's post on the previous page, +1 on that. they need to one up the chestburster scene from original Alien. The only thing i can think of worse than getting mouth f'd and having an alien burst through your chest would be getting regular f'd by an alien and giving birth to one.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 7:59 AMTheoretically Holloway is a sort of Alien, now, when he makes out with Shaw ...
Also that 'worm' creature is not 'that' big, if the one that dives into a blue suit is anything to go buy ...
Plus don't forget the (now) deleted scene (in the leaked trailer) showing Shaw's belly getting bigger in a very short space of time ...
