Will people be pissed off if there is no xenomorph in this movie?
March 27, 2012
I know I will be more disappointed if it does. Ridley said it best, he's at fucking disney world. Let him stay where he belongs. It's time for new monsters.

I won't be dissapointed. It seems to me that the xenomorph is a hybrid of the xeno DNA and the creature that it impregnates. The serpent is a hybrid of the xeno and human. The monster of Alien 3 is a hybrid of the xeno and a dog. the monster in this movie should be a hybrid of the xeno and whatever species it bred in. I would like to be suprized.

I can tell you right now that there's no way I'll be disappointed by this movie. Xeno..no Xeno..don't matter. RIDLEY SCOTT is making a movie in the ALIEN universe and Giger is involved. There's no ROOM for disappointment.
It's like trying to get 2 out of 3+3...it just isn't possible. (for this fan)

Nope. But please Ridley, scare me with something much, much worse!
PS: I'm not afraid of worms, big blue/gray guys (uhhh, depends where and when)

For me, the classic or quintessential alien is from the second movie. Those xeno's had the perfect balance of looks, mobility, etc. That being said and, as others have touched upon, xenos have been done a lot, if not way overdone. While it seems most of us will be turned off for a return of said creature, Ridley had better dazzle us with something more than corridor chases, b-movie scares and the typical chest-burster.

I must say I love the fact that this feels like its own movIe and not an "Alien" movie. Yes it's in the Alien universe. I won't be dissapointed if i dont see the classic xeno in fact I think it would cheapen what they're going for. I've been saying all along they need to underplay the connection to the Alien films. That's all we need are people saying....Ughh!!! another Alien movie. To get a new audience I think that's what Scott knew too.

@shawn
I agree with your take, we've all seen the xeno, I hope there isn't any in this film. Let's see something new/different and maybe just a little explanation of how they come about, OR a lead into another film of how they came about. ((--just my opinion!))

I've seen one "alien", and many zenos. They are different creatures in many ways, regardless of how you look at them. Similarities are enormous, but they are very different in both appearance and demeanor. Don't start throwing rocks at me, you know it's correct...
There will be SOMETHING in this movie that is also similar, but "less evolved" as has been stated by the writers of the story. That is enough for me.

We have only seen two versions of the 'Alien,' the hybrid with human DNA (1st, 2nd, and 4th films, although each of those films had different variations of the same monster; still the same genetic cocktail if you will) and the Rottweialien from the 3rd film. Truth is we have no idea what the original Alien DNA looks like or represents. Jason8 mentioned the serpent being the end result of human/alien DNA, which makes sense based on what we see from Shaw in the trailers. Now, we see that she has given birth to the white worm, or vermmmmm as I like to pronounce it in my best Norwegian accent (anybody seen The Thirteenth Warrior? No? Yes? The fire serpent, the fire verm?) But if she was impregnated the old fashioned way which is being speculated, and not by let's say 'involuntary' means like the other 'hosts' from the franchise, are we still seeing what would happen if true human DNA and true alien DNA crossed paths the traditional or 'Alien' way? I don't think the white serpent shows us this, but we could get the answer to that question when we see how Holloway turns out. But, we still do not know what genes were mixed to get the eggs and as a result, the facehuggers from the crashed derelict on LV-426, which have led to every monster we have seen. The 'Alien' monster appears biomechanical, reminiscent of the derelict architecture. Base on what we know, there must be some other DNA mixed in, and I think we assume its the SJ. Many seem to think that the Engineers (the big, blue guys IMO) and SJ's are one in the same. I don't. The monster from the films looks nothing like the engineer. Do you know what does? The 'Alien' muriel inside the temple in the trailer. The surface looks clean and smooth, and gives off a bluish hue, like other artifacts in there. Could simply be how it was rendered, or it could be a pretty accurate representation. It appears to be in the same temple as the giant head. If you think about it, its pretty easy for Sir Ridley to steer away from Alien considering these ideas. Maybe will see a 16ft tall Aliengineer.

I for one, believe the Engineers and SJ's are different, not the same being as some have speculated. The Alien monster we know and love, the Rottweialien from the 3rd film not withstanding, is very bio-mechanical looking. It looks nothing like the big Blues (Engineers IMO) as I will call them. The monster looks more like its taken DNA from the derelict ship based on that craft's architecture. Or the SJ if it is a real being. I think this, however, looks like what might happen if you crossed a big Blue with 'Alien' DNA.. Notice the bluish tint and the smooth look. It could simply be how the muriel was rendered. Or it could be pretty accurate. And it appears that this muriel is found in the same temple as the giant head, probably rendered by the same Engineer artist. Maybe will get to see a 16ft tall 'Aliengineer.'

I'm 99.9% sure that the xenomorphs are NOT in 'Prometheus' BUT we will get an indirect explanation of how the xenomorphs are possible.... I bet Ridley will give us the lesson in theory as to how or why our classic alien is possible, but it will only feel insignificant because the answer to the origin will tie into the larger scale of what is really going on.... Basically, I think Ridley is going to make us not give a shit anymore about our traditional creatures because something more relevant is at play in this universe.

I don't know why anyone would be and as Ridley states here..
"[I've wanted to revisit it for] years! Years, years, years," he stresses, of Alien's space traveller subplot. "I always wondered when they did [Aliens] 2,3 and 4 why they hadn't touched upon that, instead of evolving into some other fantastic story. They missed the biggest question of them all: who's the big guy? And where were they going? And with what? Why that cargo? There's all kinds of questions."
...that this isn't those movies, much as we love them this is something new in the same vein.....

I won't! In fact, I'm tired of the Xenos. The AVP films made a big mess out of both franchises. I'd like for this film to give me a fresh new idea about the horrors that await humankind by being selfish and the penalties for taking what does not belong to you. But, I have absolute faith in Sir Ridley that he will deliver, thus making this film the Blade Runner of this generation. I know he's planning to do a sequel to the original film, but I feel he doesn't need to say anymore about that particular universe, IMO.
