MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 5:10 AMWhen i was a wee laddy i fell in love with ALIEN. I mean we hadnt seen anything like it before had we? Then years later we got word of a sequel.....my god the anticipation was unbearable almost. All the kids were trying to find stuff out......we all started watching ALIEN again to familiarise ourselves before seeing ALIENS. Back then your best mate had it on video, i didnt own it myself because videos back then cost about the same as the Nostromo lol.
Its the same anticipation now........im remembering my childhood lol, im getting the same feelings i had before ALIENS came out.
Why?........because there is so much hype and possibly deliberate mis-direction than for any movie.....EVER. More than the Roswell incident lol. Governments would be in awe at Sir Ridleys cover up. I reckon any leaker would be taken out back and shot. But why is there so much hush hush? What are they hiding? Is Ridley the real COMPANY. Is Ridley Peter Weyland? Are there really no Xenos blah blah blah.
There has never been such anticipation within the Alien fraternity i think.........we all love ALIEN, why? because it has the Xeno in it that we all fell in love with many moons ago. Sir Ridley knows his fans, he knows we love the Xeno......so why would he leave it out of Prometheus, i dont think he has, i think he has abigger surprise in store for us than we can anticipate.........thats why all the secrecy i think.
I mean, Prometheus has an android, so did ALIEN. It has a SJ ship, so did Alien. It has Weyland and Zeta Reticuli...........i dont think Prometheus is going to be as far removed from ALIEN as we think. Sir Ridley still has unanswered questions from ALIEN that he says will be answered in Prometheus....think about that for a moment. What question have we all asked? Where did a horseshoe shaped derelict with a hold full of eggs come from? How did it get there is the question weve all wanted to know. And Aliens didnt answer that question.....neither did all of the spin offs such as the AVP Franchise. AVP said that the Predators brought the alien to earth........but where did the Predators originally find them? No mention of the original derelict.
Sir Ridley knows all this.........he knows its the biggest question next to "why are we here"
Personally in i think that question will be answered in 72 days.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 5:22 AMOh yes........i forgot. Nobody should disrespect anyones theories on this website. Because it all adds to the hype and boosts the anticipation......so when we all finally get to see the movie in what feels like an eternity, we will either say OOOOOOOOOO i was right......OR OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thats how that came about. Or RIDLEY! YOUVE MESSED IT UP lol.
We shall see.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 5:47 AMDon't think we'll be thinking "Ridley you messed it up" somehow.
George Lucas on the other hand...

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 6:03 AMI most sincerely hope he won't, but why can't he mess it up?

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 6:55 AMOr, we'll see a lot of people that are disappointed that Prometheus is everything it was said to be, and not what they personally hoped it would be. That will be a shame, because I sense they will dismiss a very good film because it doesn't play within their web of continuity.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 7:00 AMI think if we stop speculating so much about the story line It will be easier to go & watch the movie with an open mind... maybe it will turn out to be simple and cleverly done ...

Quite right, continuity is a sentiment often heard on this site. For me, no need for facehuggers or xenomorphs. Surprise me, Ridley! That's the only thing I'm asking. Screw continuity.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 7:17 AMI agree with Famished and perps, and I really believe trailers would never show much of the climax of any movie, and none of the ending.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 8:39 AMI've been a "Ridley Watcher" since, well, "Alien" came out..before that it was like Ridley who? I follow directors, not genres or actors. You watch anyone long enough, years of watching and you acquire a sense of them. You dont get to know them, you dont get inside them as you might with a personal friend...but you do get a feel for them, a sense of their patterns and habits. To me, Ridley in one way, is just like us...he loves movies, he loves surprises.....he loves getting them and giving them back.
Based on my observations I have my own theory on this movie like everyone else, and right now its no more valid that anyone elses. What I am certain of is that this film is no hype...it will go off the map. I'm excited because Ridley is gonna surprise the world, despite all the images and statements that have been dribbled to us.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 8:56 AMYeah, just hanging out in these threads, I can already sense that a lot of things have been ruined for me. Probably the best thing would be to step off and wait for the film, but the speculation, even when it is somewhat ridiculous, plays into the curiosity entertainment.
It may be very simple and elegant, but with some of the words being tossed around, the title itself, I'm expecting a film that dabbles toward the profound. How it gets there is anyone's guess, but I'm sure that Lindelof, for as much hazing as he gets, has a far better story sense than anyone on the boards. In other words, if it were easy, we would all be raking those big Hollywood bucks and polishing our revisions for the next Blade Runner.
I can't see these trailers being delivered without some misdirection, can't see them writing the characters without some grey decisions to make. In the end, there will be choice and consequence, and i'd be very surprised if that followed a typical path.
They have hinted at new paths and new rabbit holes, and if that is true, I sure hope that come mid-June we are talking about that as opposed to talking about the missing links to Ripley's story.

Absolutely correct, Fam. Previews link things together that aren't what happens in the movie. People respond to things someone said and it sounds like they go together and really they're from 2 different scenes, they're shown out of order, etc.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 11:24 PMI hope Ridley goes through most of the threads and says " WOW" what brainstorming sessions the member's are having ... maybe I can use some of the ideas in my next venture... :) ..... artists are always looking ideas... :)

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 11:26 PMIts a very clever marketing strategy to keep the pulse racing .... and the excitement going ... everyday a new idea gets posted...
