Vickers makes the statement in one of the trailers.

Statements made by characters in the trailer may be juxtaposed with completely unrelated imagery...purposely to throw us off the trail.

If this is not a decoy, I believe that Vickers acknowledges that the archaelogists were right in thinking that the hints left in ancient Earth related to an alien civilization. But not much more than this and certainly not about the "invitation" theory.
