Theater was PACKED and it was an intense ride, and a beautiful one, from beginning to end. I'd have to agree with it 100%, except for 2-3 things:
1) I did NOT enjoy the music. It was too "anthemic" and not tense enough. NOTHING like Jerry Goldsmith's original brilliant score that was so full of dissonance and tension, that even the music alone was scary. There was one scene that used a "mash up"/remix of one of the Goldsmith themes---can't remember exactly what it was, but it was interesting to hear...otherwise, the music just should've been SO MUCH BETTER...
(SPOILER ALERT BELOW (I guess))
2) The Weyland deal was plain corny. Sorry. BAD, even. The makeup was HORRIFIC. In fact, I think they could've COMPLETELY left out Weyland, and the movie would've been a million times better. I did NOT enjoy Pearce's role, and thought he overplayed it, but the makeup just made it a bazillion times worse.
3) The "David head" just did not look "good". The neck was WAY too long and just wasn't "right". And since he was so integral to the ending of the movie, it sort of took away from the ending IMHO.
All in all, though I certainly feel this was at least a 4.5/5, and all the discussions on here leading up to the film only helped me enjoy it more. In fact, this is the kind of movie you can know the whole story beforehand, and yet STILL enjoy it from beginning to end.
I cannot WAIT for the sequels---get to work Ridley! You're on the clock, and you don't YET have eternal life!
Go see it in IMAX---you will NOT be sorry!
