Ii have to admit, I'd lost interest in recent films, given that Sci Fi was dying and most of the new stuff was "Twilight level" teen fluff or ridiculously stupid comedies. However, I caught the teaser for Prometheus around December of last year when it first hit (or was it November?) and...bam! ... everything just came back. I could see all the vastness and richness of Scott's "Alien" universe in those few seconds, and the memories of anticipation of the "original" flooded my mind as we analyzed that thing over and over again. How did you first find out about this film? What has made you interested in it? Why are you here?

I have always been after rumours about Alien 5, periodically checking newsgroups and forums, and then about the Alien prequel as soon as the idea emerged (can't remember how many years ago, actually). Then, last year, the project was finally named Prometheus, and searches have been simpler ever since. I have been hunting for news and updates until I found this website (visiting it sporadically at first and then a bit more regular starting from last summer). By the time the official pictures came out I was hooked to this forum and became an eager lurker, until I decided to sign up and start spamming/trolling/hijacking (only very recently, unfortunately). I never considered the option of AvP forums, here is where I belong.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born. Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

I must know the answers to the questions that have haunted me for 33 years. Who and what is the Space-Jockey? Where did the Aliens come from? What is the derelict spaceship doing on LV-426? What are all those eggs doing in the hold of the derelict spaceship and where did they come from? Why did it take 33 years for us sci-fi fans to get these questions answered?

I became interested in the film after I figured out that there would be Predaters involved.

@NoXWord Yes! Same here! I remember how the rumors began years ago, which gradually evolved into reliable news about an actual Alien prequel (at least back then it was). I was fully convinced back in May 2011 when the first leaked pictures began to surface on Google. I remember the first low quality image of a character wearing a helmet with a visor (didn't know it was David back then haha!) I also remember the other early images of the green cryo pods, a screaming man in a suit and a monitor displaying "abdominal...". The overall design in those pictures was dark and I kind of knew back then that Ridley intended to make a horror sci-fi, apart from James Cameron's *cough* Avatar. Great topic by the way!

When I first heard the rumors and news about an Alien Prequel coming out, first with Carl Rinsch (an unknown to me) set to direct it with Ridley to produce it, I was a bit skeptic as to how much backing FOX was going to put behind this project. Then when FOX pulled the director's seat out from under Rinsch in favor of Ridley returning I was kind of shocked but pleasantly surprised that they wanted to go back to the Alien franchise's roots. In the past, it seemed as the sequels/spinoffs came and went, FOX seemed to become less cooperative and intent on torpedoing the franchise. I believe they finally came to their senses and decided to make things right for the fans. Now a year or two later, with all the stills and trailers that have been released, I'm very satisfied with the way 20th Century FOX has endorsed this film as their summer blockbuster and given Mr. Scott full creative control over this film including a R Rating! I love how they are going back to explain the origins of the Space Jockeys and telling a fresh narrative from the same universe as Alien. Which I believe is the only way of really rebooting the Alien franchise without giving it that moniker. I honestly can't remember the last time I was so excited and hyped up to see a movie in quite some time. Now my only fear is that I hope I haven't seen too much stuff to give the movie away. lol
