notice the pronounced knuckle at the base of the thumb....what do YOU think??? Isn't it fun to speculate?

some of the things I've read make a connection between David being the progenitor of humanity...I noticed that he is in the center of the huge star map when what appears to be two of those giant humanoid guys circling about him....just wondering if they attack David and then the mystery goo helps him regenerate after the derelict type ship crashes...hmm, I think that may be the end of the movie, just a thought

Where did you read about David being the progenitor of humanity? That's a new one to me.
I'm sorry, but it just seems like such a leap in logic.

That scene is clearly on earth as we can see the drop off to the waterfall which was shown just before it with the large circular flying craft above it, as said before this is probably the beginning of the movie before David. The character in that scene is most likely a space jockey and is probably being referred to as the king but then dies later by his very own creations (humans).
Not something I particularly like but that's how I'm interpreting it.

this is one reference, claims to be a spoiler, but who really knows

one of the leaked "scripts" suggested that David sacrifices himself in a pool of some goo and becomes the prototype of humanity. And I believe the "transforming" person in the opening sequence is not him but Vickers....... Remember Lindeloff mentioning in some interview something to the extent of "what company she's working for"... May be not Weyland or Yutani at all )))

It's a space jockey, same skin tone, same vein like features, muscular, bald, naked from the torso up... Why would it be anything else?
Unless we're suggesting that David or Vickers turns into a space jockey and somehow manages to get back to earth using a very large circular alien space craft only to stand overtop a waterfall and look at what they've become without anyone else around.
OR It's a space jockey on earth before the birth of man and he's (because after all god is a male right) attempting to create life in his image, yay creationism! :( Sadly that's probably the truth behind the scene.

it's going to be someone that we don't expect for that scene...

No one turns into a space jockey why is everyone so obsessed with that notion

The king is dead. Long live the king.
Perhaps the transfer of power from one ancient being to the SJ race.... Maybe they made a bad choice!

Anyone noticed that David is actually smiling in the center of that blue globe......i wonder if it IS the end.....or before it all kicks off. And, the goo between the gloved fingers......isnt that what everyone finds shortly before a Xeno attack in all the other movies?

Ridley has said (before Empire writeup) that by the 3rd Act you notice it is the Alien DNA ...
I also read a synopsis somewhere that states there are TWO huge companies at war on Earth (Weyland & Yutani?) ... so is Vickers working for the other side (Yutani) or somebody else? ... she definitely has an agenda for sure but I think it's different to the rest of the crew ...
Is this movie the product of Weyland/Yutani merging? ...
Love the particle glow in that goo ... gives it life I reckon ... watch it on full HD ... particles are moving in it ...

He doesn't look like SJ the skin tone is close to human. I think in that scene SJ's are creating humans. Note the black lines across his body. I've seen similar lines on one of the Prometheus crew members when something gets inside his suit. Maybe those lines are an indication of some sort of mutation.

bishop said ash's model of driod was twitchy or buggy or whatever he called it.
makes me wonder if davids are worse since
1. they came before ash's and
2. were there even any david models left during the nostromo timeline? maybe they were screwy and were decomissioned and replaced with ash's model.
seems like they may have had a lot of problems with synthetics since they didnt tell anyone on the nostromo he wasnt human, like they would have objected to it if they knew before hand.
or maybe they are worried people will refuse to take orders from one if they knew they werent human.
id probably only take orders fro ma synthetic if i knew it could snap me in half if it wanted... lol.

@bella ...
Totally agree about the different android models and their behavior ...

belladonnaMarch 29, 2012
nice, GEM !
at first i wondered, if they had an acceptable model of android why make different ones? i understand different physical appearances, but a different model all together hints that there were serious problems with the one before hand.
i understand the alien legacy has been created by different people, so bishop commenting on ash may not be relevant to ridley's universe.
but the main thing that makes me question him is the fact i stated before, that the nostromo crew was not told ash was an android , plus their shock about finding it out and their lingering feelings of animosity seem to hint to (in my mind) some sort of very very bad experiences with so many synthetics, that no one wants to even be around them.
just like ripley's reaction to finding out about bishop, people seem to think it was because of her horrid altercation with ash.....
i think it is a combination of that, plus the original hate of androids that seemed to be ingrained in all humans at that point. everyone in the room in the ash VS ripley fight had the same reaction of shock.
if droids were common place and deamed not dangerous, why be so startled? and again, why lie about a crew member being a droid if it was socially acceptable?
seems like the weyland droids have a long line of pissing us humans off.
