What the movie seems to say about mankind's potential in relation to the SJs

Just some thoughts I had. Given what I've read on the threads and the impression the trailers have made, here's what I think the movie implies could pontentially be the future of mankind in the Alien universe. We are following in the footsteps of our masters - the space jockeys. We are becoming like gods, cloning, making humanoids, and creating organic life in our labs. Eventually we reach a point where we feel it's time to turn the machine off, when these acquired powers have become too powerful for our own good, kind of like with our weapons technology (nuclear weapons). The space jockeys perhaps are suffering (or had suffered) from the same dilemma. In their case, it appears they chose to embrace their and have come to accept the unethical consequences because the benefits outweigh those consequences in their minds, kind of how we allow animal experimentation, cloning, stem cell research, etc. to continue even while we have a feeling of wariness, torn by the ethical sensibilities, or concern over what it could lead to. Perhaps this movie serves as a warning to us of how power corrupts and the burden of responsibility and tough choices that come with our technology. Then again, maybe this is just horse crap and I'm just looking too deep into it. Hey, but you can't say it doesn't make a good discussion topic. Had to think of something to keep us busy while we wait for the film's release. We still have like 2 months to kill, lol. Anyway, any thoughts?

Awesome insight! I have been thinking along these lines too... and i keep thinking about the line Holloway gives in one of the trailers, "How far are you willing to go for your answers?".

you can never be to deep when discussing the origin of man or space travel the deeper the better. I still think david gestates and gives birth to the xeno and creates the biomechanoid organism we know and love today.

@want-to-see-prometheusNOW! There's nothing wrong with thinking too deep about this stuff, because that's what Prometheus is supposed to do. As far as I'm concerned, Prometheus, despite what it is, is some high-culture stuff. Prometheus isn't "Cliche College Movie" or some other BS action-packed movie without an undertone. Prometheus is a movie that will open your mind.....though it seems to have been doing that to us already. @DAVIS Fascinating statement. Shame I don't want to end my own life just yet, despite everything I've been through. Maybe enlightened beings choose when the time is right for them to end their own lives, or perhaps they let death be impending instead of being self-inflicted?....of course that's different in some cultures, but still.
