MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 8:13 AMInteresting... Now that I am taking a closer look at the long trailers and the newest art from Prometheus, the Jockey Ship after being disabled crashes straight down back on the planet, landing on its arssz end and resting PERFECTLY STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR??
Not sure what this is supposed to indicate?
Its obvious that everyone knows the 1979 Derelict on LV426 is essentially flat on the ground... just interesting anyway.
So is this still the same ship as some keep stating? Has it simply fallen over 37 years later? (Of course that assumes LV426 and this world are one in the same... which I think is false)

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 8:17 AMI don't think it' resting, it's in mid-roll. Alternatively, it may be 'righting itself' using some infernal alien propulsion technology beyond our ken...

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 8:23 AMYeah.. Its probably just like that before Noomi comes in all "New Sheriff" like and does some major ass kickin with lots of guns 'n splosions and knocks it over.
Sweet!

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 10:13 AMthat cant be after the crash, there is no damage to the three large holes where the human ship is seen slamming into it

MemberTrilobiteMar-30-2012 10:28 AMFirst off RC8's pic, as cool as it is, isn't official.
Secondly we don't how the Derelict ends up after the crash...
The footage in the trailer of Shaw looking up at the upright Derelict is most likely as it launches from its hangar. All we know is that when it crashes it rolls, it is entirely possible that when it has finished rolling the Derelict lands flat on the ground, just like in Alien. We won't know till we see that footage, which will probably be when we watch the film.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 10:35 AMWE do... I see it in one of the trailers!!!
After the huge debris plume and fireball (which obviously is the virtual destruction) of the Prometheus) the SJ vessell falls, NOT tumbles, or glides, but literally plummets STRAIGHT back down, crunches its arssz end into the surface a little and stops resting COMPLETELY straight up as depicted in that pic... whether official or not.
Seriously, you can see this in the trailers!!! LOOK CLOSELY!

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 10:37 AMfurther.. and as this is happening you can see burning falling debris dropping all around the upright ship as Shaw is running up to it!!... (The Prometheus wreckage parts)

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 10:42 AM@ Fury... What 3 large holes... You mean the "giney" slits in the "crotch"??
The Prometheus doesn't strike there.. The trailer shows that the P. strikes the Jockey vessel on the SIDE of one of the curved booms.
The P. is virtually destroyed... and there is some damage on just the boom of the SJ vessel.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 11:31 AM@Phil ...
What trailer you watching? ... :) ...
The Derelict gets smashed right in the middle where the 3 (vag*na) doorways are ...
As for the upright stance ... I reckon it's on it's way to roll ... if you look at the IMAX trailer that scene is zoomed out more and there is debris on fire to the left ... so it must be after it crashes on the planet ... I will agree with you on that one :) ...

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 11:54 AMNotice theres no damage to the SJ ship? Even smashing into the ground.....something that size and weight falling from that height would simply collapse under its own bulk.........more than meets the eye to that ship i think.
In the real world it would simply collapse at the arse end on impact weaking the whole structure bearing in mind that its hollow throughout and the 2 booms would collapse outwards because of the curvature of the shape.
Remember in Titanic when the backend of the ship lifted out of the water, it snapped under its own weight, and that was without an impact with the ground.

MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 12:11 PMHey Gem...
I will try to respond without rambling too much.
My conclusion comes from mentally putting together the trailers I have seen with TV spots in Canada... so I cannot really pin point exact moments for you if you know what I mean...
But from what I have been able to sort of piece together, You can....
- See that on liftoff it appears that the Jockey vessel is literally accelerating straight up throught the atmosphere, almost like a moon shot or shuttle launch.
- The Prometheus begins pursuit as a shuttle leaves it (actually it looks to me like there should be no way in hell that the P. would be able to even catch up with the J. vessel in the distance??)
- The strike (from the tv spot) seems to show that the Prometheus strikes the J. vessel somewhere on the side of one of the booms.
- There is a giant fireball and it looks like there nothing left of P. other than very small debris with smoke and fire going in ALL directions.
- The J. vessel just sort of shudders and basically just stops in its tracks and begins to fall straight back down. It basically looks fully intact!
- You can make out the rear back end of the J. vessel. Whether this is an "engine bay" I have no idea.. but its a dark sort of rectangular area.
- You see scenes of Shaw running from the impact... the vessel crunches back into the surface.... ass first.
- You see burning burning debris falling around this area.
- You see Shaw now standing back in front of it at rest with the booms straight up in the air (some have said maybe this is her looking up at ship before launch!?!,but the sky is all dark just like it is in the other shots of the burning debris falling)
By holes, just so I am clear, do you guys mean the Giger "slits in the crotch" holes? Well how can that be. If the J. vessel is accelerating straight up, then how can the Prometheus strike it there?? Would that not have to mean that the Prometheus was able to accelerate way up above the J. vessel and then dive straight down into the "crotch"??
Notice how Im calling it the Jockey Vessel and NOT the "Derelict".
:)

I realised what I typed above while @ work ... I was thinking on the way home ... hang on there's no damage to the ship on the planet ... Post Productions stuff again??? ...
Or are there TWO ships hiding in the hangar? ... one gets hit by Prometheus and the other is able to take off without fuss? ...
