Ridley Scott and the internet forums

Apparently, Mr Scott does has never experienced internet buzz like this leading up to a movie. He is quite taken aback by how much we dissect every detail. I don't think he likes it much. That being said, this is by far NOT Ridley Scott's first rodeo. They know how to keep things secret if they want to. One of the cast, who insisted on reading the script before negotiating, had to sit and read it while a guard stood closely by, after it had arrived via private courier on a Private Jet. In the original Alien, The morning that they filmed Kane's now-iconic chest-bursting scene, the only information the actors present were told that day, when preparing for the scene, was "The thing emerges." None of them(except Mr. Hurt, of course) knew it was going to burst from his chest. That is why the revulsion, terror and other visceral reactions by the actors were so genuine. RS knows how to get the most out of his actors, AND his fans, when he needs to.

I'm fine with us putting 2 and 2 together based on the trailer, we'll only be able to come so close to knowing what's in store for us in a 2hour movie, from a few minutes of trailers. I believe there is still a lot not being show, plenty of stuff to look forward too.

Not to sound like the proverbial old salt who knows everything to infinity and beyond but unless you saw "Alien" in its day, you cant know what it was like not to have the information access we all now enjoy, use, exploit, etc. You could keep a lid on things much easier then...Ridley's got expert marketing on this that didnt and couldnt exist back then. I knew nothing about this film or even heard of Ridley Scott until shortly before it opened. Ridley Scott publicly was nobody and got treated like shit in Hollywood....can you imagine that now? I suspect he's secretly loving all this, but he's got to publicly be 'gruff, F bomb dropping ole Ridley' for the sake of appearances...often the mark of a sentimental softie hidden inside.

C'mon Folks... admit it... ONLY SCI-FI fans do this!! Ridley has never experienced it as this level (now with the Al Gore's tarnet and all)

Yeah, Dutch... You are right. I was 7 when Alien came out, and it was the product of all my fears and the icon of all i was not allowed to see. When I was old enough to see and understand what I was seeing. The SJ scene stayed with me forever.

I remember when i saw Aliens after Alien and at that time i had unanswered questions about the Jockey. I wondered why they never showed or said what happened to the Derelict in Aliens i mean surely the colony would have come across the Jockey? And after Aliens the franchise moved on and basically never explored or hinted to the Jockey as if the Jockey never happened or was not a vital part of the Story. But i thought if it was not for the Jockey and his Becon Warning/Call for Help then we would not have had Alien. So its great that finally we will maybe visit that side of story at least as far as who or what race the Jockey was.
