Hey Guest, want to add your say?

Not_my_intentionApril 12, 2012
that looks great :) i don't think it could get much better then that :)

Not_my_intentionApril 12, 2012
and when i said that the thruster kind of went over the entire thing but was covered from above, think millenium falcon:

Shardy made the new bottom for me :)

Zim, that looks good I am planning on upgrading my system in the next few day and hopefully will be able to find some time to start tinkering with the model again sometime next week or so.

Not_my_intentionApril 15, 2012
btw, you said when you save it a a specific file i could open it with any 3D app? does that include Google sketch up 8??? that's all i have :)

BiomechanicApril 15, 2012
I can probably give you a file that can be imported into sketchup. I could make an intermediary like.3ds maybe? There are quite a few free viewers out there that can import .obj though. Meshlab off the top of my head. If you actually want to edit the model there is the totally free open source 3d editing program Blender It definitely opens .obj files. Again though how it looks sometimes is dependent on the program. I've had trouble with normals not looking right on some viewers.
When finished though I will render the image how you want myself with Maya and the mental ray renderer so you really don't need to worry about those programs.

Not_my_intentionApril 15, 2012
oh ok, thanks :) and no i do not want to do more work on it myself lol i can barley make a cube :D

BiomechanicApril 21, 2012
Okay updated my system to Win 7 64 bit with Maya 2012 64 bit and now working out a whole new level of bugs and learning some new features. Good news is your model loaded. Bad news is the new configuration is forcing me to rewire my brain but it's necessary. Will update here with some new renders for your approval soon.
Also Zim do you own a pair of red-cyan Anaglyph 3D glasses?

Not_my_intentionApril 22, 2012
that all sounds good to me, but i am not sure what you mean by "red-cyan Anaglyph 3D glasses" do you mean like the red and blue paper glasses? if so yes, but i am not sure what you are talking about.

BiomechanicApril 22, 2012
Yeah Zim that's what I am talking about. I can make 3D images really easily with Maya and thought I would display our progress with a 3D image or two in the future.
Anyway right now lets concentrate on the engine block:

I tried to update it with the details you gave me. Hope I understood them correctly. Sorry for the smaller picture picturepush wouldn't upload the bigger ones. Does this look correct?
I also tried to convert the file to .3ds and imported it myself in sketchup but no good. The model looked horrible in that. I don't think sketchup was designed for such a complex shape. Looked great in meshlab though so if you want to examine the model I suggest you just get that some time.

Not_my_intentionApril 22, 2012
Yeah that looks perfect :D did you change the texture??? Looks much smother then before, but that may just be my imagination though lol and I will need to give meshlab a look, how much is it? Or is it free?

BiomechanicApril 22, 2012
Thanks craigamore but credit should all go to Zim and his cool designs.
On a sad note,
Two of our best men were accidentally sucked through the turbine and killed during testing. Crews are still cleaning up the mess. Old man Weyland was there and just laughed. Sometimes I wonder about him...

Not_my_intentionApril 22, 2012
Hey dont be modest! I could never dream of making models like that :D and also I say we take a moment of silence for those brave souls, god bless them..................

BiomechanicApril 22, 2012
I just refined the model a bit zim and adjusted some normals to get it to look better. You might also be noticing the ambient occlusion I am creating it a different way than before.
Meshlab is totally free and open source. : )

Not_my_intentionApril 22, 2012
Cool beans :) I am on my iPod right now, so I will download meshlab on my computer tomorrow when I get the chance :D

Not_my_intentionApril 30, 2012
forgot to tell you, i downloaded meshlab :) i don't really understand how to make models, but if you are just going to send me a file, i can just rotate and look at it right?

BiomechanicMay 02, 2012
You caught me goofing off on the forums and not working on it. : P
I sware the crew is working 24/7 they are testing new polymers for the rear wings:

Yeah Zim meshlab should work well for that. When it's a bit more together Ill send you a file you can examine.

Not_my_intentionMay 02, 2012
looks great :D i see the details you did to the wings and mid section, looks great :)........ i say that to much, need to mix it up.... how about it looks superb? or grand? lol

BiomechanicMay 02, 2012
Thanks. You are a lot easier to please than old man Weyland and that stuck up blonde robodork of his.

Not_my_intentionMay 02, 2012
lol yeah, i am happy to get anything :) to be honest, i did not think anyone would respond at all :)

BiomechanicMay 02, 2012
Zim here is the bottom so far. Could you take this and mark it up with what you were saying in the PM?

Not_my_intentionMay 02, 2012
yeah thats about right actually, only thing missing is the 2 guns under the cockpit..... and the cockpit lol yeah you got everything that i was talking about so far, so yeah keep up the good work :D

Not_my_intentionMay 02, 2012
ok so i decided the changes that it needs other then the guns:

BiomechanicMay 02, 2012
I just knew you were going to say that one part needs to be longer after looking at the references again. That will be the hardest thing to fix. : P Okay thanks Zim ill look into making the changes soon.

Not_my_intentionMay 02, 2012
its kind of hard to read, but it says to make that triangle over the engine longer, to fill in that space, and to add the engines to each end (the actual thrust coming out dont make, thats just to show what it would look like)

Not_my_intentionMay 02, 2012
oh sorry :( if its too hard you dont need to bother, its not that important.
