giving the history we have from the previous films of the Weyland Corp, their intentions have always been at odds at best with the consensus of the majority of the characters in movie, with that in mind and the wonderful job some many have done to slow down the trailers for us maybe vickers or david plan to impregnant shaw as garmin tried to do with noote and ripley in aliens....? this may also be why the space jockey turns hostile toward us. i do not believe that the jockey wants to destroy us, obviously they have issue with xenomorphs also....ergo big hole in chest.....

for some strange reason references of jurassic park keeps popin in my head, ya know when i watch the trailer and shaw is giving the presentation to everyone david is there listening so i am assumming the weyland corp is willing to fund this little expedition with other intentions. it seems weriod to me that david being a android ask shaw can read the markings....

Seems a little played out from alien and aliens, but I can totally see it happening that way. I think Prometheus is going to be a ton of accidental "oh shit what have we done" - curiosity killed the cat type stuff. BUT, that doesn't mean that Vickers or David don't figure it out or their programming gets changed along the way to do just what you've stated fellow @fanboy79.

Well there is something going on as we can see that some crew members are trying to keep Shaw held against her will. Now have the conspired to get her impregnated, or have they found out she may have slept with Holloway and found out he has been infected by the Alien Organism, and then they see she is showing signs of being pregant but the embrio is growing at a fast rate. So they realise they have a Human/Alien DNA hybrid on their hands and the company want to go through with the birth so they can study and keep the resulting Organism.

It's possible someone connected with Weyland was up to no good and tried to take something of theirs. Just like when they wanted the Xenomorph. This could be why the space jockeys are hostile.

Another weird theory-suppose the Shaw squid escapes and grows and she tries to protect it.Then during the escape she uses the Derelict,and Prometheus rams her.
