MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 12:39 AMi think the chances of getting a xenomorph to do all of that are about the same as my columbian tegu behaving that way, lol.

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 1:38 AMI actually used to have a xenomorph as a pet. Generally, they're pretty good pets. They're quite attentive, independant, highly intelligent and they need almost no upkeep. In fact, they virtually keep themselves! However, as with any pet, there are a few things that are worth keeping in mind before you run out and harvest your first.

As with bees, watch carefully if they begin laying eggs, as this can make them more agitated and protective, and you can soon be overrun!
They can be somewhat aggressive with family members, children, etc.
They need careful training to avoid the worst of their behaviour with other pets, such as dogs, predators, etc.
Their skin can become very hard and siliceous. I tried many things to soften it, but to no avail.
Don't let them eat after midnight.

Don't let this put you off though! They're wonderful pets and can be really rewarding. I remember sometimes, I'd wake up in the morning and find mine hanging from the ceiling waiting to be fed! They make a fantastic addition to any family, and will give you memories and experiences that you'll truely never forget.

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 2:14 AMhey at least they could eat dogfood right out of the tin lol........that little mouth tongue will fit right in there........no doggy bowls to wash. Although youd be forever cleaning floors and furniture.....they dont half dribble.....worse than a st bernard. And it dries rock hard.

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 2:43 AMdo xenos even eat?
it doesnt appear that they poop.
unless they have such an efficient digestive system that they completely use and absorb every bit of their food they consume..
id prefer the non eating and non pooping option. then we get a super cheep and clean pet, that might make up for its other not so appealing qualities.

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 2:47 AMbelladonna, that would definitely make it easier to take care of than a dog or a cat. And if you get a queen as a pet, it can lay eggs and you can sell baby xenos to your neighbors. On the other hand, you're going to need a big house if you're keeping a queen.

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 3:23 AMhmmm... but what to use for the face huggers that come out of the eggs? perhaps a docile creature for the host to try and make the xeno come out more compliant. rabbits? hehehe.
i bet i could find room for a queen, i found room for over a dozen pets i already have lol.

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 4:17 AMyes but i think they can go into a stasis/hibernation as well. seems like they stay inactive in the hive walls until prey comes by. at least thats how it looked in aliens, if they werent hibernating i dont see why all of those aliens should have still been alive by the time the sulaco crew came, they should have all died and been lying all curled up like roaches. (like all the dead face huggers)
ticks do the same thing, they can stay dormant for years until something warm comes close and they spring back to life and try to grab a hold of the unsuspecting prey.

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 7:47 AMI was facing a nasty divorce, bought a Xeno egg, and not only do I not have to worry about the divorce, I have a awesome Xeno pet. it is fun to try to teach it to "jump rope" or "skip rope", as it has to train it tail well. The key thing is that when it pops out it just scared, and if you don't try to communicate with it, it can get very aggressive. Though cats keep them calm.
Though don't let them sleep on your bed, the KY stains will make it look like your a really kinky person...

MemberOvomorphApr-03-2012 7:53 AMDid they ever make a CHIA Xeno?
I think it would make a nice Christmas gift.
