Ok people so i watched abit of ALIENS the other night, and had my notepad close by, so i linked some things together about Prometheus, the company (WY), xeno yer that huge soup of things. Well first as many of us gathered the company knows of something on LV-426, from Alien, and in ALIENS there is a colony setup to reaserch and are given orders to search for anything, and a certain place (the derelict, where you will see newts father get inpregnated by a facehugger) RIGHT, one major thing that got me thinking was the COLONIAL MARINES. Why send a huge military ship but one tiny squad? Where they simply bait, which the company controlled to see how well they would fare against the new xenos? I say new because i think they have come across similar, maybe in prometheus we find the 1st type (as has been disscussed) this would be backed up by the fact that the company hadnt encountered anything like it on over 300 surveyed worlds before but more so that the colonial marines say they are "trainned to deal with these threats" and the LT's line "A xenomorph may be involved." Just some thoughts, im sure there are loads of links.

As far as I understand, the troops in Aliens were a kind of Special Forces. So even though they were small they could do more than a larger number of soldiers. Also, I think they were used to fighting extra terrestrials, hence the "bug hunt" talk. Still, it does seem odd that the Company would send Burke yet none of the Soldiers really knew what they would be facing or were adequately trained. Also it's very odd that the Lt. was very "green", with no combat history. *On a side note, Cameron basically invented the Queen and hive idea for his movie. Aliens is very different from the original Alien in many respects. Cameron changed a lot of things that Giger and Scott had intended to be the original mythos to be (Although i have seen interviews with Giger and he very much loved the Alien Queen design). There is a scene from Alien that was cut from the movie, that shows the true lifecycle of the Xenos, they needed no Queen. I find it very disturbing, more so than a giant Queen laying eggs. Nothing can stop these creatures, they can survive and thrive anywhere. Deleted Scene: Where the eggs originally came from.

Aliens is a popular popcorn flick. But you probably should have actually watched the FIRST MOVIE. Have you seen Alien from 79??. Cameron took the idea in a direction which had never been envisioned from Ridley Scott or Giger. BTW: With respect to the Xenomorph term, it was first coined in Cameron's sequel, and it sort of stuck because no one had applied a proper or scientific type name to the "Alien" before. I completely agree that there are many non-sensical elements in Aliens. I had also been bothered by the "Is this going to be another bug hunt or a stand up fight"... It was like huhhhh... In some dialogue its like there has never yet been any other sentient type of life yet found, but in other statements Cameron makes it sound like we had been battling all kinds of critters from the Star Wars Cantina for decades??? What???? To be fair, its not like the Sulaco was a really large vessel. It would more along the lines of a small corvette or frigate...But with respect to the military "tactics" frankly much of it doesnt make any sense at all. The fact that there was NO crew of any kind left on board AT ALL in orbit is utterly ridiculous. I guess for Cameron that sets up a subplot of having to call down a second dropshit from an empty ship, but this is really moronic. We really could go on all day about how much of it makes no sense, but take it for what it is... a shoot 'em up with a lot of one line zingers. It doesnt really relate to Prometheus at all though.

So is Alien/Ridley moronic? Just saying...

Geebus... I guess that went right over your head. How about this one... The Nostromo is like a the TRACTOR part of a TRACTOR-TRAILER... The back part was an 20 million ton ORE HAULER/AUTOMATED REFINERY. Its not a FREAKING SHIP!!

That WAS NOT a MILITARY operation.. just saying And you dont seem to understand what the Nostromo was... It was essentially a glorified TUG BOAT hauling a BARGE.. It essentially left behind a CARGO CONTAINER. And it DIDNT have anything like a shuttle... only a small lifeboat. It HAD to land on the planet... There was no other way to get down. Just saying...

I know what you meant and I think that having a huge "tug" or "tractor" floating around in space could be the same as having a ship thats light years ahead in tech and could be perfectly safe in "auto mode" as the stupid/low tech TUG. Now remember this is all fantasy not a perfect world. So nothing's moronic or genius.

@canadaphil no i havent seen the FIRST MOVIE im just a fan of the entire series.. since i was about 5 (was when i first saw ALIEN) :P yes of course i have, i know cameron did this and that. And the term xenomorph is also refered to the greek term xenos, which means stranger or foreigner, which would coenside with the term "alien". @svanya yes, i had seen that before, it is trully more disturbing i guess in that way instead of an alien queen, but to be fair i like both, i mean a bioweapon that inturn produces a creature able to create more of itself is truly disturbing, like a virus or something just never ending.
