MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 2:52 AMIn the last trailer there is a scene where one of the alien humanoids' is in the chamber that houses the gun/telescope/thingy. He's either about to pick up or has just placed the glowing green orb. The gun thingy starts to rise out of its hanger and he looks very surprised to she it coming out of the floor, his whole body language says this is unexpected.
Could it be that David is in the SJ suit, now infected with the grey matter and an "artificial person", has interfaced with the biomechanical ship systems and is about to interfer with the "Engineers'" nefarious plans for humanity?

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 4:23 AMYou're right. It does look as though he's surprised, like it was his first time to operate that machinery and he didn't know what to expect.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 4:23 AMHi, I like your way of thinking and I am sure that 'someone' who starts off on Prometheus will end up in the chair later to be discovered by the Nostromo.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 7:05 AMYES, whatever it is, is not quite sure of what it is seeing... Like this is happening for the first time.
I had already mentioned this in order topics sometime ago.. Everyone keeps missing that several ft. behing the "orb" is a control panel with a very LARGE CHAIR (Not the "scope" chair). The orb was obviously designed ergonomically so that what LARGE creature is meant to sit in the chair, it would have been able to reach the "orb" with very long arms.
That fact that what everyone or many seem to think is an actual "Space Jockey" has to stand on the turntable to work the orb should have told everyone that that thing is NOT what some think it is.
We haven't even had a glimpse of the "REAL Overlord" yet.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 7:14 AMI don't think he's surprised at all, if anything I'd say he's in a bit of a hurry. About the only thing I see that could signify him being surprised is his left hand extending all of his fingers( which could mean anything), though I'm betting that it's just a delayed reaction from whatever it is that he was touching.
Another reason I disagree with him being surprised is the fact that we actually see him casually walk toward the telescope thingy in one of the earlier trailers from the exact same position.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 7:19 AMCasually walking around it??
I took that to actually validate the other opinion...
That it is in fact walking around the thing staring at it sort of perplexed, not exactly sure what to make of what it is actually looking at?
This could even explain (for those who seem to have to have this ship be the Derelict) was the thing in the central chair was overcome by a Xeno.... Because it was not fully aware of the functions of this ship or its REAL purpose.
It simply had a vague idea.... but the WRONG one.
I actually believe the FLIGHT CONTROLS are at the LARGE chair behind the green orb. That is the REAL pilots chair.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 7:29 AM"Because it was not fully aware of the functions of this ship or its REAL purpose."
This could definitely be a possibility. The blue guy doesn't know what it's messing with, and bam! you got a xeno in your belly. Then again, if he has a xeno in his stomach and he's in the derelict, then he is likely to be the 'space jockey.' Good point anyway!
Or maybe Ridley pulled a curve ball on us, and maybe the fossilized space jockey we saw in 'Alien' never was really the master alien responsible for engineering other forms of life and storing that DNA in those ampules. Ever considered that?:)............

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 7:31 AMFraid I don't agree with your reasoning there goodkat. The scene you are referring to is more than likely in another part of the film. In that section the blue alien is walking towards, more or less diagonally away from (us) the observers, the "thingy" thats coming out of the floor with the purpose of getting into it. In the scene with the globe, the blue geeza is on the otherside, nearer the "observer" of the "thingy" doing sothing with the globe and is not in any way connected with the SJ-chair's arrival on scene.
I have an idea the blue alien is about to give everyone a bad day and David is interveneing by using the "Engineers" own tech. It makes sense, they are so far advanced to us, only their tech could harm them, also, it's a great, though overused, theme that "robots", "artificial persons", "droids", "synthetics", "skin jobs" show far more humanity than humans when the chips are down.
Bet the sequal to this somehow merges with the "Blade Runer" sequal.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 7:35 AMI have been saying all along that whatever some think these things are, they are NOT the MASTERS, but only indentured servants or slaves.
The Master probably sat in the REAR CHAIR all along, and doesnt even require any form of stasis pod (whatever)... These are only for the "servants".
And with respect to the "turntable" and the "gun chair", I think Ridley is really going to throw a fast one at us! Something, that is definately NOT expected by most here.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 8:48 AMI didn't miss the fact that there is a traditional chair on the outside of the platform. I even posted regarding the chair and the fact that it's on a track in front of the mechanisms that light up prior to the star map activating. Included links to a photo of the chair during shooting next to Ridley Scott and Naomi Rapace. Of course only three members on this site even bothered to post anything regarding it. As that chair is the sole piece of furniture in the orrery room,(when the room is dormant) logic would suggest that it's somehow designed to interact with something in the ship. Especially since the chair is affixed to a rail in the floor. Just a theory, but I wonder if it's how the whole reviving the sleeping Gods gets started. If the ship is biomechanical, it may be the only thing that survived whatever happened there.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 9:32 AMHow about I give you a brain fuck theory?
The blue guy sat on the chair then operate some buttons, the chair starting growing a space jockey from it.
Check that trailer. :)

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 10:54 AM" Sir, have IQ's dropped while I was away"?
These are two completely different scene's, the first one has the blue alien walking to the alien thingy as it raises from the floor, probably cause he has activated it, the other scene shows him or another "blue guy" fucking arounding with this green orb when, all of a sudden the thningy starts to come up out of the floor, he stops what he's doing and looks around, surprised.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 12:48 PMhow can anybody even think that this blue thing looks surprised after like 2 seconds of footage from the trailers...to me his just their.....I seriously cannot tell weather or what his intentions might be...or his emotional state....some of u seemed to have tuned into that perfectly....this might even be a good entity.....who knows....none of us has seen the movie....though i will agree he does seem like his a big blue dadboy....but that's just my perception!

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 12:52 PMBut he doesn't look around surprised, he looks directly at the chair without moving his head in any other direction.

These are from the same scene! Notice the chairs direction in comparison to the jockey, also notice how both the jockey and the chair are slightly raised (indicating the full room shot to be a later frame). Both scenes also indicate the jockey having similar hand gestures.
The green orb area is clearly some kind of control console for the room as it generates both the starmap and raises the chair.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 12:53 PMBecause he's not suprised, he looks directly at the chair without moving his head in any other direction while also keeping a stone cold emotionless face...

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 2:39 PMi noticed that the camera angle is sometimes different from one trailer to the next....for example ....when Vickers screams ...."take us home!"....the camera angle in the Tv spot 3 is very different than the international trailer....also when shaw says ''if we don't stop it...their won't be any home to go back to"....it sounds like another take....but i am not sure about that last observation.....i am pretty sure that he (Ridley) had different takes and takes purely intended for the trailers......i mean why not?

MemberDeaconApr-09-2012 3:58 PMI think what ever the Blueguy was doing was just to activate the Pilot Chair/Gun/Scope to rise from the Hole.
He is looking at it, just as when most people say open their Automatic Garage Doors you stand and watch them open, even though you know what happens.
