That's a pretty disgusting looking massive scar...there's no way this is PG material, look at it!
also check out this article where it is from, pretty informative:

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 7:56 PMIn the trailers its been altered. I agree with you though... I can't see this film being PG13.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 8:00 PMaltered you say...probably why I never noticed it before...I hope they don't water anything else down
on another note, dark knight rises confirmed as PG...no surprises there tho Batman movies are not exactly gore

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 8:05 PMHoly cow! I never noticed that on the international trailer...

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 8:06 PMI think when we see Shaw towards the end of the trailer trying to defend herself against that Space Jockey, she loses. She gets beaten up pretty bad and thats the result of all the bloody scars and what not. Than the Space Jockey takes her and encases her in that machine where that facehugger looking thing is being held above her head thus implanting something possibly inside her. As a result we have her in the second pic scuddling away trying to keep her balance.
Or. Shaw loses and that facehugger looking thing ends up lashing her out pretty bad. Maybe its entering through her vagina. I mean Ridley mentioned how some of the scenes were quite embarrassing to him. I wouldn't doubt in the least. We see a snid bit in the trailer where Shaw is looking down towards her body in pain. That would be pretty gruesome if the squid/facehugger looking thing entered through the vaginal cavity.

AdminPraetorianApr-09-2012 8:16 PMI kinda think Ridley is deliberately misleading us with some aspects of the trailer.
Erm, isn't the author of that article in this group?? They even mention this website. O_O

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 8:24 PMRC8,
So why do you think that she has staples in one shot trailer and a gash in another shot trailer?

danrald
MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 8:37 PMBubbaChubbs,
Well, that is not the only discrepancy. The trailers are littered with them.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 9:15 PMI've wondered for a ahile what she's holding in her hand. I thought maybe some sort of electronic key fob to open/lock doors between passageways.
But I suppose it could be a hand held medical stapler. Notice in some shots the wound is closed and you can visibly see staples holding it shut. So maybe, she was in such a hurry to get away from the birthing chamber, she decided to seal herself up on the go.
Of course, another distinct possibility is that this shot is unfinished and the staples have not yet been digitally added.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 9:22 PMOutlander,
One image is with a gash, bloody.. the other is with staples and looks like mud on her.
hmmmmmmmm, I wonder why...

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 9:28 PMinteresting and cool article, thanx for posting it
personally, i am hoping against all hope, that Scott with this new film,
does his best to obliterate the predictable "insect like" direction that Cameron
had defaulted on for his shallow take on what Scott worked so hard to convey
in ALIEN
i am well aware that Scott himself has said that of all the "Alien films"
he himself only recognizes "Aliens" to be an ALIEN film and not the rest
in spite of that fact, i wish that Scott would establish a entirely new thought
process into how and what the aliens are, and how they are created, and once
and for all do away with the grade-school tenants that Cameron tried, yet failed
to establish with dyed-in-the-wool ALIEN loyalists like myself
in any case, something to look forward to

AdminPraetorianApr-09-2012 9:39 PM@danrald, Eh who knows. This is his baby, I don't think he would give so much away on purpose.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 10:53 PMI think a lot of your guesses based on the footage we have so far are likely to be pretty accurate, fellas. It would be great if we turned out not to be even close and the film is a complete shocker. But I doubt it. Nobody is that brilliant.
Looks to me as though he's sticking to the formula he used in Alien. We got our expectations way too high. We're asking Ridley to be a magician.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 11:16 PMAll I know, is that if Shaw ends up stapling herself on the run, that would be absolutely crazy and cringe inducing in the best way. I'm sensing a pretty epic sequence of film--and by epic, I mean epic: the way it was when it used to mean something.
Rapace is going to devour the scenery in this film.

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 11:52 PMIf you look closely, you can see staples in the international trailer too..its not gash, its all the red throwing you guys off. You can also see the staples when she is in front of the mirror doing the power prayer.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 5:09 AMWhen I saw the coming's original post and read his article link, I really thought this would definately end up an 'R' rating...
Unfortunately Redleader is correct, and it is NOT a huge 'gash', but rather merely a long 'bloodstain' across the top of Shaw's lower coverings. The photo in the original post is indistinct, but if you look at the high quality photo that danrald posted lower down on the previous page, you can see it's just a 'bloodstain'.
I read somewhere that the red blood splatters on Shaw were coloured black purely for the benefit of toning that particular trailer down, by the way...
She WILL have red blood on her in the actual movie, but that's just a bloodstain on her coverings...so this will certainly still likely end up a PG-13 theatrical release. Too bad.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 7:07 AMRedleader,
The power prayer.. lol. Do you guys have a higher res picture? Actually I could see Fox covering up the blood for the U.S. trailer, but in other countries it would not be as offensive? That maybe a little silly, but it's a shot. Or maybe its like Svanya says.. lol.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 7:33 AMFunny how US audiences get all wigged out by a little bit of blood.

the coming
MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 8:16 AM@Cervantes...have to disagree there..this is not a bloodstain, this is definitely a medical C-section incision, you can see the skin sort of flapping out. We also know there is a strong possibility she had something removed, and a C-section was probably programmed into the medical computer so she had to go with that
Saying that, if they have replaced these shots digitally with stapled versions (very possible and done all the time) then it looks like they are heading towards PG territory
I hope they will keep the original footage for an R version

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 1:34 PMRedleader,
Nice work, it looks as though her "shorts" absorbed a a bunch of blood. And in the U.S. trailer, they made it look muddy/black. But that is just one of the many discrepancys, I'll write this one off as logical.

Biehn_Bandit
MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 1:44 PMIt's just the top of her waistcloth stained with blood. I could see how some people would mistake it for a wound though. When I first saw the trailer I thought it was too, for a second.

ChrisNilson
MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 1:48 PMa c section doesnt require a slice all the way across the obliques on both sides. Maybe a 5-6 inch incision a couple inches below the belly button. The second pic actually shows the true scar and staples. Thd red has to be just blood/ mud. I would think they wouldnt need staples 75 years from now, why not a laser to cauterize and put the skin back together

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 3:25 PM There are indeed two variations of the same scene, 1 with staples and 1 without, the colours also are different green and blood, as in general editing process scenes are filmed and re-filmed in order to give a Director a choice of what fits in the main film.
So during the course of time these are released in part to see what the fans are more intrigued with and want to see as well as give us something to chew on, hell i love considering the angles when it comes to the film that will no doubt be the Blockbuster horror of the year!
Also in a previous post it was pointed out when the images are examined frame by frame Shaw indeed has a c section via [ MEDPOD ] that removes the alien organism on a umbilical cord from her abdomen that perhaps her reaction to said poss Xeno is not without merit. I recall hearing the voice of MOHAWK man saying these ( things ) are moving meaning more than 1 thing so we can speculate that there will be various
creatures not just a jockey/SJ or the thing that is removed via Dr Shaw. We also hear another voice saying cut it out to what is he refering, cold it be the person who has a pink 'slimer' jumping into his suit.
And for laugh's when David7/8 looks at his finger tip with a blob on it his reference to big things have small beginnings lets hope it has nothing to do with his left nostril, best leave those to kids to dwell on!!!
