Something that would shock today's audience for a sci-fi/action/horror?
-A slow scene, very slow: real life speed, for example. Something that lets you understand what happens without slowing it down.
-No explosions
-No CGI
-No teen romance
-Compelling dialogue
Bonus
-No terrorists
I reckon this would be far more shocking that the chestburster!
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

If you look up her filmography you can see that she already had a few movies under her belt before the Millennium Trology, and most of them were dramas.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

For some perspective, that comment is coming from someone who played the role of someone getting violently beaten and anally raped in a very brutal fashion, so I would think this scene in Prometheus she is referring to must be extremely nasty !!
PS: For those who might not know, Noomi Rapace played the title lead in the ORIGINAL Girl with the Dragoon Tatoo. Not exactly a movie for the easily squeemish.

And before that, some more disturbing roles.

Sometimes actors get so emotionally involved in their roles such as Heath Ledger (RIP) a la Joker style is disturbs them mentally.
Especially if their doing such an involving role as Noomi Rapace. RS took alot of effort and time into developing Shaw as a character and preparing Noomi to fill her shoes.
RS is gonna definitely 'one up' the chestbuster scene. Its gonna be more brutal and distubing tthen Alien
..or so i hope *crosses fingers*

MarcoBot1234April 11, 2012
@CanadaPhil nice to have another canadian on board with Prometheus!
which roles are u referring to Nox?

1darkjediApril 11, 2012
Yeah the scene probably shows Shaw with AL Gore ...how could it get any creepier ?????????
MacsApril 11, 2012
@1darkjedi
-"Yeah the scene probably shows Shaw with AL Gore ...how could it get any creepier ?????????" What you mean?

draekusApril 11, 2012
Uh oh...looks like there's an Al Gore fan in the house. LOL
Anyways, I'm thinking the scene they're talking about is the c-section scene. That's why we dont see David or anyone else assisting in the c-section. (Only the machine/scanner.) Because Noomi was the only actor present for the filming of that scene, as mentioned by Ridley in the interview.
NoXWordApril 11, 2012
Yes, just Noomi and the poor guy in the squid costume...
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

MarcoBot1234April 11, 2012
If that is "THE" scene. The disturbing scene that Ridley has talked about then why wud they reveal such a thing so blatantly in the trailer?
I mean we see her in the operating capsule
we see noomi with c-section scarring on her stomach
we see the squid thingy
Seems a little too obvious for Ridley Scott to reveal his major scene of horror... Or maybe its something else altogether? :O

CanadaPhilApril 11, 2012
Yeah.. I agree.. Im with Marco on that.
I dont think thats it... not by a longshot.

draekusApril 11, 2012
@MarcoBot
I actually hope you're right as I want something even more shocking. But I really think the c-section is going to be it.
The original trailer for Alien also had a quick glimpse of the chestburster scene. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEVY_lonKf4) Granted the quick glimpse is before the Alien begins to tear through Kane's chest.
Also, lets remember that although Ridley may want that scene to be a complete secret, the studio may want to put a few seconds of it into a trailer to entice fans.

SvanyaApril 11, 2012
@draekus; Well, keep in mind that thing had to get in her somehow. I think THAT might well be the real disturbing scene, how it gets inside her.
Bishop is Bae <3
NoXWordApril 11, 2012
I think that it can be the c-section scene. We know it happens, but we don't know what happens exactly.
For Alien, the actors knew there was going to happen something, but they didn't know how it was going to happen, and in the Alien trailer we see Kane with convulsions (though I admit that scene doesn't necessarily hint at what's going to happen).
Edit:
there, I was writing this post and draekus beat me to it, I fully agree

the comingApril 11, 2012
blah blah...don't make the movie a PG then if it is 'so disturbing'...this is nothing but nonsense, if this scene is disturbing, I mean really, I will eat my pants
total hype

draekusApril 11, 2012
@Svanya
You make a good point. Maybe its how the seed is planted in Shaw...?
Then again, if the seed is planted in a casual (and mutual) sex scene between her and an infected Holloway....that won't be "the scene".
@NoXWord
Great minds...
W/e the scene is I hope it doesn't get (too) spoiled before the movie.
NoXWordApril 11, 2012
I didn't think of that... How the seed is implanted inside Shaw can be disturbing indeed.
Especially if it's Holloway... ewwww
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

MarcoBot1234April 11, 2012
Ya but Holloway isnt a monster and isnt scary. Hes actually a good looking guy
.. no homo...
so it wud just be consensual sex between Shaw n Holloway, not really scary.
NoXWordApril 11, 2012
No, he is a good looking guy indeed, but in the movie he is going to be the douchebag, and the one disliked by the audience.
Hence my silly comment! ;)

FrantzApril 11, 2012
Hummm a woman is revealed to not have a normal fetus but a giant squid ... the squid is mechanically removed while she is alive and it hang over her head while all the tub is spitted with blood .... i think is pretty nasty enough there is no need go into kinky things huh .
If you see even halloway have something inside ...it get out from his eyes . And since they are in love i think the conclusion is pretty clear .
what can be even more disturbing is that she was already pregnant ...and then the squid can be a mutated baby :(((( ( eheheh a bit too disturbing :p )

CanadaPhilApril 11, 2012

Oh geeeezz.... That !!
The more I think about the implications of this scene now, the more I think IT CAN BE QUITE DISTURBING.
Since we know that Shaw is supposedly quite religious, one would think that she would have in real life been a VERY PRO LIFE attitude person. Now, think of what a complete mental mind F*&^ it would be to have literally given "birth" to a lifeform that is completely horrifying to you, and yet, what must she be thinking.... "Is this my child".... "If its not my child, then what is it?"...
And if she beieves that LIFE is sacred, how does she now square that concept with the now horrifying one that she has essentially given birth to something that is a remorseless killer of sorts??
I think this is going to be something with more of a mental aspect, but yes, it will also still be quite messy.

red hoodApril 11, 2012
I think the worm in Hollaway's eye is creepy. I don't even like a eye lash to get caught in my eye much less a living alien wormy thing.

BigDaveApril 11, 2012
Well maybe this movie is going to be doing a lot to upset the religous people.
Maybe Shaw = Mary.
In that the father of that Squid is not Holloway?
One of Gigers works does show a hybrid Female/Alien and it depicts a Worm/Eel thingy that apears to enter her via... lets say her privates.
Maybe she is infected/impregnated via a Alien Organism via her privates.
Maybe via said Organism entering fully inside, or maybe instead like a Face Hugger it just implants something inside.
That would surely be shocking... how do they get away with PG-13 on that, well again you do not have to show anything and leave it to the mind. Whats not shown in a movie but you know whats happened would get away with it.
Remember the one scene Shaw is trying to escape that Tenticle thing...
Is that thing 1) Shaws Baby growing fast, 2) Organism that maybe catches her and implants something inside her.
They only have to show that thing get to her and go near her legs, then show no more.
Only to then show other scene where she has some kind of creature growing inside her thats then cut out and when doing so shows umbilical cord attached.
This confirms that the Squidy is just like having a Hybrid Baby rather than teh Emrbio idea from Alien.
If the scene before is when that Tenticle catches at attacks her, then that would add 2+2 to make said Organism catch and then impregnate Shaw (and not talking Face Hugger on Face method).
it would not show any actual say hentia monster tenticle rape scene for the viewers to know thats whats happened.
Pretty much like say if Gorillas in the Mist showed a scene where Sigourney Weaver, is attached by a Gorilla and it shows one takes her into the bush. But shows nothing more and latter in movie she is pregnant and gives Birth to Half Human Half Ape Baby.
You would know the Gorilla got jiggy with her but their would be no interspecies sex scene.

if i am not mistaken if we view the still shots of Shaw in the chamber it does appear to be someone holding that squid thing and its not just the machine there is an actual figure holding the squid...and i wonder can shaw have been pregnant before the trip and the introduction of the alien dna does something to the already present fetus?????
CryoApril 11, 2012
Can't get off my mind SPECIES stuff when I think of this scene. The theme of getting pregnant or "infected" by aliens or ginving birth to a monster is kind of overused. however the way it is conceived or presented can make the difference.
The images from trailers and comments from director/actors points to a scene that something really bad happens while Holloway and Shaw hace sex or are resting after sex. Either Holloway or David might be involved in this scene.

FrantzApril 11, 2012
no cryo there is no comments that lead to that ... Scott said that the scene is with SHAW ALONE ...SO can be the case that she "operate" herself ( that explain why she is awake ) after she feel that she have something inside , the fact that she operated herself alone can explain also why she walk after full covered in blood to reach the others .

SpartacusApril 11, 2012
you still can't write properly Frantz.
I love ya though...lmfao.
The scary part is, I understand you completely now !!!
Ripleys-KnickersApril 11, 2012
I would have thought it was obvious how the Alien gets inside, and has to be taken out by C-Section.. She has sex with Holloway, her obvious partner in the movie.
Was there not a pic released today, with Holloway's eye, infected by sperm type stuff? Just a thought...
chthonApril 12, 2012
I think if it's done in a kind of Cinéma vérité style an alien c-section could be very disturbing.
Almost anything can be disturbing or emotionally intense if it's shot right.
