What have the engineers been doing all this time?

Maybe just doing what they do best on other planets etc? its sooooo far away and doubt being so advanced they would be restricted to this area of space? just that SH*T hit the fan here on these planets..

I would assume that maybe there is only one guy left and he has been awoken by the crew of Prometheus. Someone i spoke to had said there are 4 Space Jockeys and in one image from a Magazine we see 4 Blue Guy suits, does that mean they made spares or could they had been used to play 4 SJ's but in a scene thats like a flash back or like the Hologram scene. Dont forget they got a actor to play Shaw Dad and young actress to play Shaw when she was about 10, but they will only be in the movie for a short scene and will not be setting foot on Prometheus or LV223 and maybe thats the same with the other Engineers, that they apear but are not really physically there.

The race possibly transcended their physicality, at least until they need a physicality--Hence the digital appearance in many places. I don't know, but that's my guess for now..

There are 4 Sarcophagi, and I think three of them are the final tombs of 3 for the 4 SJ

I reckon they were chillin' out, smokin' some Intergalactic Ganja, listening to whatever passed for Zepplin or Pink Floyd in their culture, messing around with their bio-manipulated toys, (and remember, Ridley has said that they engage in very un-civilized behaviour,) having massive Intergalactic Orgies when one of them slipped some Intergalactic Acid into their Intergalactic Kool-Aid and made them all a little bit Intergalactic Unstable causing them to make a BIG Intergalactic Mistake with their bio-toys. :-D

MVNT, I recall seeing a screen shot somewhere that showed the 4 sarcophagi from above, three of them have holes protruding from the chest area. One does not. I haven't seen it since, so maybe it was changed or updated or edited.

Yes 3 do have holes in them, we see 3 Blue Guys in the Hologram Room and we see 3 with masks on running away. Maybe Mr Blue Guy in this movie is not a very nice person and a naughty boy. Bit like Jockey 1 = Ghandi Jockey 2 = Nelson Mandella Jockey 3 = Santa Claus Jockey 4 = Hitler and he is responsible for taking out his brothers and has a lot in store for the crew of Prometheus. If this is the case then indeed teh Cave Paintings could be a invite. Be like if we sent out messages to Aliens saying come visit Earth like that probe we sent out years ago. Only for the Aliens to come after WW3 and their is only a small fraction of us left and those who survive are the Talaban and Al-Qaeda

This image to me shows that one Jockey is opening the Egg so it can infect/implant the Xeno on another Jockey, this image does not show me that the Jockeys are being friendly to each other, that one Jockey apears to have same intentions as what Burke did with Ripley and Newt in Aliens. Actually I think that picture more shows Dan O'Bannon's idea that the original inhabitants of LV-426 worshiped and revered the creatures

The picture shows us what appears to be the lifecycle of the Alien post fertilization of the original host (Shaw?)...it comes from her belly, transforms into an egg, then a facehugger attaches to a host, then baby Xeno develops and is born! Wala, adult Xeno. The only part missing is the iworm (Holloway) to Shaw transfer utilizing the hosts reproductive cycle to germinate the egg etc... It's beginning to make sense based on what we have seen so far, but I'm sure it's more complicated and more Horrific than that, what with the Cobra and all:O)

I think that they're unintentionally woken up from their caskets (around the sj chair), as David activates something (green orb), like mummies that are disturbed from their sleep.

3 of the jockeys are dead. there are 3 holes over their sarcophagus, and 1 that has no hole. Dont you guys think that when David is activating the star map, he is mesmorized being the young child he is in synthetic terms, as seen in the trailer? As he activates and plays with the star map, the jockey awakens, and I think David is the one that messes it all up. He is holding earth in his hand, perhaps this activates the path to earth?? We can clearly see the jocket walking behind david in the trailer. I think the hologram is displaying the dead ones last few minutes, and behind the hologram, we also see the alive one coming to mess up David. I also think that we wont see any jockeys....only holograms..leaving them a complete mystery still

I go with Dave, seems the holograms are passed recordings. Something went wrong with the SJ's. a killed civilisation (almost) maybe by one of their own creations? or they arrive at a planet to terraform but get surprised by a local dangerous lifeform? all mysteries to be solved by the end of the month, great times.
