In Aliens (Alien 2), we can clearly see the Queen puking eggs out that tube thingy >.< However, in Alien (Alien 1), there is the deleted scene of people being MADE INTO eggs. Big ones. I know its a delted scene so it may nt have any relavance now, but does anyone have any ideas or information on any of this?

all theories could be correct if mutation and evolution carry on at pace, therfore all films can and should follow canon.

James Cameron said he felt free to introduce the queen because the cocoon scene was not included in the theatrical version (and I suppose not many people back in 1986 knew that there was a cocoon scene or had a chance to see it, but I might be wrong here). Scott on the other end always claimed to prefer the theatrical version of Alien (the cocoon scene slows down the scene), indirectly approving the queen. What will we see in Prometheus, then? I hope neither. Instead it could be something new, and then how it evolves into cocoons or queens is left to our fantasy. This is what I would like, but it's just personal preference.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born. Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

I always preferred the much stranger/weirder "cocooned people mutating into eggs". The queen was a great sci-fi monster creation, but its just a big egg-laying bug. Might as well be one of the bugs in Starship Troopers.

@Draekus; Agreed this scene scares the life outta me, it's far worse than the Queen. It's horrifying because the Alien needs no mother, nothing. It can survive and flourish anywhere. **Cool note, Giger actually loved the Queen design, go figure. :P @Nox; Ridley deleted it and said he discarded the idea entirely. If this movie is going to lead onto Alien or explain why the Alien Ship had Eggs on it, it has to do it in one of 3 ways. 1) Something laid the Eggs... Maybe Shaws Squidy Baby is the Mother of the Xenos 2) The Eggs are created by the Engineer and are not connected to the Urns/Ampules. 3) The Eggs are whats inside those Urns/Ampules or they change into Eggs somehow. We see in this movie so far tiny grub organism, from really tiny (Holloways Eye) to small and about the size of a Slug. A larger Organism that looks like a Eel/Slug maybe these are the above but grown in size? We see somehow crew members become infected and mutate into a Hybrid Creature. We get to see Shaws Baby Squid. We get the Space Jockey/maybe Blue Guy connection. And finally we get what looks like a Organism or at least Organic Looking thing pulled out of the Urns. So which of these seen Organisms actually goes onto being the Xeno in Alien/Aliens? Well maybe the most likely scenerio if the Eggs in Alien are layed is that Shaws Squidy becomes the progenitor to the Xeno.

Hold on... People turned/mutated into eggs? I thought they were hosts like Kane to chest bursters? Which grow into huge xenomorphs, some of which might become queens and lay eggs. Alienage11.com

I thought everyone knew about the cocoon scene from Alien in 1986. But then again, I was an Alien fanatic. Didn't like Cameron's take but he did it so damn well, ya still gotta love it.

Mutating hosts into eggs wasn't efficient as having a queen lay eggs. Using the mutate method it would take 2 hosts to create an alien. One to become the egg, the other would be the lucky recipient of the face hugger. Depending on How long it took to complete the process the alien could end up with a ship full of eggs and no brothers and sisters. FOr that reason I perfer having a queen

I must be missing something... what's the mystery? What did Cameron do that was different from Ridley's cut scene of coccooned Dallas? John -------------- Alien age 11 - Sight Unseen

The cocooned crew members in the cut Alien scene were BECOMING eggs themselves. It was a different cocooning process than in Cameron's Aliens, where the xenos would cocoon the HOST for the facehugger to germinate the xeno seed. Cameron created the idea of a Queen Alien, but Ridley (or O'Bannon, more accurately) had the alien eggs (at least the ones after the "initial" xeno was birthed) form from the living "corpses" of the xeno's victims. If Ridley considers Aliens cannon (which I believe he does, as the Colonial Marines being founded is listed on Weyland's timeline), then the whole victims into eggs concept would be scratched entirely. As someone previously said, it would take 2 hosts to breed the species... and if this film is all about evolution and genetics, etc... it'd seem very unlikely that an inefficient process such as that would exist in nature (assuming Ridley wants this film to be as accurate and believable as possible).

Easy answer, and so far, everybody's missing it. Adaptability is the key to the alien's success. So, it adapts to survive. If it senses no queen (and it can, based on behavior in 3), it basically becomes a 2nd rate queen one until it can produce a true queen. As for the "takes two to make one" problem, it's not...if you've got a prey-rich environment. If he had enough bodies to make a few aliens, let it rip. Discussion over.

Well, it makes sense if there is no queen that the xeno would become a second rate one, but I don't think that using hosts for an egg to breed one would work well in nature. Many insects can actually change their "sex" (so to speak) and will produce eggs in a queen-less environment (namely: ants and bees). And I agree, in a prey rich environment, that mode would be plausible but there's no way to know WHAT circumstances exist in any environment prior to the existence of any given creature. Nature works (for the most part) in the simplest, most efficient manor possible, to conserve resources (especially if they are limited). The process to make hosts into eggs would be too resource heavy to be a viable means of survival. The xeno has to use energy, enzymes, and protein to cocoon the host... then it has to wait and protect the eggs, find hosts... all to serve and survive? It would be more efficient for a xeno to have a release of hormones and activate latent glands to produce it's own eggs, or even a single, queen-carrying egg, in order to survive. But all of this is just conjecture anyway. At the end of the day, the film is science fiction, so it would just be a matter of how much fiction Ridley wants to mix with already existing science.

or maybe the slug life took on the form of something that it knew would be horrific to the humans, sort of "Choose the form of The Destructor!". I mean there is obviously some advanced life and technology going on here so its plausible that this could happen. What I don't understand is time line. With the AVP, and Alines flicks and now this movie, supposedly the genesis of the 'Alien' how does the time line work. especially with the Predators supposedly hunting the Alines for millennia. I guess I just found a time line...search Alien_and_Predator_timeline but I sitll dont see how Prometheus ties in...if in fact its the beginning of the Alien.

So the aliens was at first a virus, corrupting the lifeforms it gets in contact with. It may have been created as a bio-weapon which couldn't have been controlled by it's creators. Then it waited still until another life showed up and from there it corrupted the human DNA into something else. So there you got the girl getting infected and transformed into the very first queen of the aliens race, which lay eggs that wait until they can corrupt the guy from the first movie. We never see any aliens inhabiting the planet in the first movie, only eggs. Somehow the Human head in the rock, must be some adaptable figures that reads the DNA of the visitors and copies it into what the DNA shows, so that when the girl gets infected, the head is changing into what she will become.

on the alien homeworld where all the dna is homogenous as the xenomorph there are no eggs, just a hive that constructs alien warriors as needed, which has been almost never for millions of years. the alien conquered everything and has gone dormant in its photosynthetic osmotic hive, except for when it decides to send its dna out into space to try and colonize other worlds then it may construct eggs. the alien's ecology and the space jockey's technology are intertwined, the alien's hive is the source of an adults sustenance through photosynthesis and osmosis, without it they have a very short lifespan. the alien must grow its hive just like the space jockeys grow their structures. an active living alien cell is indistinguishable from any cell in the hive to any human instruments and the dna has extra long strands that have formed peptide bonds with itself outside of the helix to cram as many protein saccharides together in a small space as possible, this accounts for the astonishing growth rate and the short life in the absence of an established hive.

well the alien life cycle does not make sense A1 - the first alien that was birthed should have been a queen (since it should have sensed *with its hive mind?* that there is no queen or nest. it would have only made a drone to protect the queen A2 - queen exists aliens create hive, capture people to reproduce A3 - alien birthed on the alien planet was a drone, because rip had a queen inside her so either, they have some special kind of egg that produces queens? or in its dna it senses its the first alien to hatch, so its dna turns it into a queen to reproduce the only way for that life cycle to make sense is - in A1 their was a queen, perhaps in some part of the ship that created a nest the jockeys had been using to bomb / whipe out other planets with OR on the actual planet LV426 that the jockey visited to collect eggs? OR the eggs from the drone in A1 where birthing a different creature that has not been seen before? or to further the mystery perhaps the eggs give birth to a nest, like slowly they grow and engineer an ecosystem for them selves by hatching the growing bacterial to create a suitable environment for the queen
