MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 8:43 AMIGN has published an article containing a nice image of the ship Prometheus.
You can see the image here.
It looks nice, but I'm not sure that the escape pod is well positioned and it could have been more detailled.
What do you think about it?

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 8:50 AMIts complete BS.
Very poorly thought out.... Lifepods on the ends of what are clearly NOT OCCUPIED Engine Nacelles???

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 8:56 AMThe model is beautiful, the captions are utter BS.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

Why are the captions BS? (They don't look very technical, but I don't know much about realistic ship design either...)

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 9:20 AMWell... I thought this was BS until I went to the Project Prometheus site - it's genuine, and is the 4th revealed picture!

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 9:31 AM"INTERGALACTIC COMMUNICATION ANTENNAE" Big useless Stuff !
I mean that if they are abble to cross the galaxy faster than light, transmissions doesn't !!!

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 9:34 AMIt's different, that is for sure. Design seems loosely based on a tilt-rotor aircraft. Apparently the entire assemblies that the engine nacelles are on have the ability to move forward and back when the center of gravity requires it. That would explain why the engines are so far forward in the landing sequence.
And I don't think the escape pods are on the engine nacelles. Looks like there are two "blisters" at the back of the main fuselage that are pointed to...

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 9:36 AMagain what stood out the most for me aside from the obvious "sexiness" of the ship in this image was the fact that it attempts to date The Weyland Corp. "Celebrating 50 years of Building Better Worlds".

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 9:40 AMOh LOLZ!
Yes the pods are at the back where I thought they were supposed to be, but in the quick look at the diagram, the line pointing to them is mostly obscured and it looks like is pointing to that part of the side of the Engine!
Nevermind...hahaha
Edit.. The 4 (four) ports? on the side of the forward hangar are curious? Guess there are another corresponding 4 on the other side?

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 10:08 AM@2fray2 ...
Yep that would be about right ...
I posted a while back about the WARNING beacon taking 37yrs to reach Earth 'IF' they 'didn't' have FTL Communications (hence the big gap on replying and getting back out there) ... so yeah labeling it Intergalactic Antennae is rather funny ... but I like it ;) ...

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 10:24 AMThey definitely could have done a better job with those callout lines. Thin gray lines over largely gray ship = superfail.
Re: the antennas (not just the communications antennas but the ones sprouting from the bottom left of the ship), they seem to be a poor design choice of the hypothetical Weyland ship designers...You'd imagine turbulence from entering atmosphere would snap those things off, unless they can be retracted.
I guess I would imagine that with all of the other advances Weyland the company has made, they'd find a way to transmit without the need for car antennas.
Nits picked, the ship design won't really impact my enjoyment of the film!

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 10:36 AMIMO the ship design is sexy, as somebody has already stated. And that 3D rendering looks like a real model I would want to play with.
Wooooshhhh... Prometheus has landed!
But those captions are ridiculous and clueless.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 10:44 AMYeah Nox.. but how much cooler with this be...
"wooooooooshhhh... Pe-Teewww- Pe-Teeewww... Zzzzapppp!... Zzzzappp !"
Hahaha!.. I do think it IS a very cool looking ship, but I agree on the captions. They may as well have something "STARBOARD FLUX CAPACITOR MATRIX" for what its worth.

Werthers Original
MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 11:10 AMI totally agree about the captions. Might as well make the movie rating U with that kind of crap. Fireproof Windscreen Muahahah
Oh well, I'll try my best to forget about that. Come on June 1st

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 12:15 PMI'm So excited I've ordered a Nostromo Model Kit on-line, I'm even thinking off making a replica rig for it to tow. I hope someone comes up with a model for the Prometheus. Interior diagnostics and blue prints would be cool too! Bonus Situation indeed, like the one I just smoked

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 12:15 PMHe'll might want to talk about the bonus situation then.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 12:16 PMLove it... though I wonder why they'd need an "intergalactic communication antennae" seeing as LV-426 is in this galaxy. Maybe they're worried they might get lost... way lost. ;)

ROFL. Nice touch with those engine shadows.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 2:01 PMI think that the location of the life-pod isn't coherent with what's been shown in the international trailer where we can see the escape pod being ejected from the side, under the engine pylon.
