MemberOvomorphApr-16-2012 1:26 PMso Alien was released in such a way that, when I was young, I never really noticed that the "tail" comes out from the crotch of the alien. its not until i saw extended scenes, or got better glimpses of it that i realized that. like in the scene when it kills brett, and is hanging, its clearly coming out from the front of him.
and in the cut scene when it stalks lambert. but in aliens, and alien 3 (i realize not canon) the tail was clearly a conventional tail.
were we supposed to assume the alien was curling it under himself, or was it just something unique to the alien? it really bothers me in the scene where its hanging from the chains...i kept thinking that we were looking at the back of the creature.

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2012 1:36 PMIt'd be a bit hard to wander around the air ducts with a big tail in front of you lol.

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2012 1:47 PMThe alien was designed by Giger to have a "conventional" tail.
The beinhd-the-scenes images you see with the tail attached to the crouch area were only for the scene where the Alien is hanging from/alongside the chains before he kills Brett. I believe the alien suit for the stunt man was made with the tail in the front due to the position the stunt man had to hang from. (When watching the film, you really cant tell that the tail is in the crouch area.)
Having that huge tail hang downwards from the rear would have likely been extremely uncomfortable for the actor. Not to mention that the weight of it pulling at the rear of the suit from that angle could have probably torn the suit easier than if it just hung from the front.

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2012 1:49 PMyeah, anytime he used the tail in the film, it was in front of him, so it certainly makes sense. the deleted scene with lambert just did not disguise the fact very well, and is probably why it was cut...in addition to it being a little silly.

MemberOvomorphApr-16-2012 7:30 PMno, the tail was in the back..... here is image proof:
and also, aliens and alien 3 are most defiantly 100% cannon, like it or not. when the people who say they are not cannon say it, they are just being kind of dumb. i understand if you don't like aliens and alien 3, but that does not make then non cannon. granted i have called alien resurrection non cannon, but that's just to me personally, seeing as its 200 years later and now a comic book, i can almost pretend that it is unrelated, but that's me. in truth it is cannon, there are all cannon..... that's why they all share the name "alien" lol

MemberOvomorphApr-17-2012 8:06 AM@invaderzim42...i was saying that Alien 3 was not canon, and i say it because its what RS said, so I dont really think thats "dumb". its RS's creation, and he gets to say what episodes hold form to the original story.

MemberOvomorphApr-17-2012 4:47 PMhe gets to say whats non cannon with Prometheus, he has no right to say whats cannon or not with alien.
