Hoping the 'operation' isn't the 'money shot'

It's been too easily deduced from the trailer by the nitpicking nitboys - shocking, yes, but in a predictable way even if the gore is off-screen. Self-operating/mutilation is not original. Gory, but ultimately - boring. I think it might be something else. Why would 'the-scene-to-rival-the-Chestburster' be spoiled by showing even the tiniest hint in the trailer?

@BigDave Alien DNA can be many things: -The environment and claustrophobic scenes with Shaw and the tall guy in the blue corner of the Prometheus (as Ripley in the Nostromo escape the Xenomorph) -The life cycle of parasites / worms. Born to the polls and then introduced into the body of their victims to give birth to a monster. -The parasites are just the beginning of a series of changes and processes with advancing the plot of the movie to make themselves more and more families. As this ejemplode see this photo (please do not assimilate it so literally, also is just a fan art) But this in turn would cause Prometheus is a traditional prequel and Damon Lindelof intended to create a prequel to the original ending (because according to his words there is nothing surprising if the viewer knows in advance the end of the story) Well, I guess I'm just a fan waiting for a big surprise and not something that I know in depth.

@Big Dave@ as a female who's'had a C-section (via epidural) where one is half awake and half dead not feeling pain but still feeling the movement when taking out the baby... Imagine it being a Hybrid baby and coming out of my body !!!AAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH I think I'll die of a stroke ,cardiac arrest or both. As a man I don't think it'll hav the same effect/ Shock value today is not the same as in 1979 but some things are just ntt right no matter what times we're in.

@vixen believe me that would scare the s*** out of me if done correctly, so dont be quicly to dismiss the effect it could have on a man as well. And youre right, today we've been more desensitized than 1979 so it might not be as shocking for some of us. As for Alien DNA, it's probably the actual dna sequence that creates the creatures we see in aliens. But there will be other sequences as well. After all, an engineer goes through different trials and errors to create the final model. If they use the same process (alien life cycle) to create different creatures that could explain why Ridley says that we will see something similar but not the same creature as in Alien. So my guess would be that we will see the dna evolution through the film. Maybe those last few minutes will present the exact sequence for the Alien monster. Or the link with Alien might just be the derelict crashing on LV-426, a shot of the SJ with something trying to burst through its chest and a shot of the eggs, and thats it then it jumps back into the ending for prometheus.

Ok to cut it short, Alien DNA might be the actual sequence that creates the Alien monster. We will probably see different variations in the movie, but if they use the same process to create their creatures (alien life cycle), that will probably be the reason why Ridley said the creatures might look similar but not the same. The easters to alien mentioned might be the ship, SJ, the evolution of the dna sequence into the one for Alien. As for the link, it might just be the crash of the derelict in LV-426, maybe a shot of something trying to burst out of the SJ, and a shot of the eggs? @vixen dont be so quick to dismiss the effect a scene like that might have on a guy. If done correctly, it will scare the **** out of everyone, regardless of gender. Hell, i'd probably react the same way as you. And you're right, people are more desensitized today than 1979 so something's might not be as shocking anymore. I blame wars, technology and the exposure to material at a younger age than 30 years ago.

Now that I think of it, would a regular birth scene fall under the criteria of PG 13? Because regular birth could be scary enough to shock american audiences these days... Or could it be a literal abortion by having that medical arm just tear it out of her... yeah. Even if they don't show it in theaters, the words of the day are "director's cut" and "dvd sales". Would the born result make it the "stolen fire" of creation? Are they tying the Species-Franchise into the Alien/Predator mix? I'd be all for that one! :D
