It looks clear to me that one of the Temples are opening for the Alien ship to take off but what in the hell is the flat surface of the planet opening for??? If anyone has speculation on this, please enlighten me? Who knows, I may even be interpreting the events from the trailer wrong but that is how it appears to be playing out to me. thx

I reckon this has probably been discussed but seeing as I can't figure out certain things myself I'm gonna give this post some love!
My personal opinion is that Sir Ridley has meshed these trailers around in ways that what we see, may look continous but could be taking part at earlier stages??? for instance the ground opening and what we assume to be Shaw jumping between the cracks could have happened before they actually reach the 'so called temple'. Who knows?
At this stage I've read so much my brain is liquified!

I believe you have mistaken what you see.
What you have interpreted as a "dome shape" opening is actually a reverse angle on the ground opening - ie: the alien ship is hangared below the ground and the ground Shaw stands on is the hangar roof.
The shot you describe is from the perspective of the hangar, looking toward the roof: the roof opens, so the ground on which Shaw is standing opens - and she'd better run.

The configuration of the doors from above and below just look so different IMO.

@Chimera
Really?
Those petals share a very distinctive and identical waveform design - to my observation.
Furthermore, the ground is seen opening under Shaw in that design, and the roof is seen opening above the vehicle in that design?
I'm struggling to see on what you base the distinction that then supports your opinion....but you must believe as you will.

@allinamberclad, to me the shipp appears to be in a dome structure that is open somewhat roundly and down persay. When Shaw is running it looks just flat doors opening. I will look again but that is how it appears to me.

I looked again and it still just does not look the same to me. The look different shapes. one apears to be arched and the other is flot. The dome opening looks like a totally different conguration. I am probably wrong but I have looked it over many many times and am coming up with the same conclusion. The aspect of the opening showing the ship even appears as if the doors are lowering down from a dome shape IMO.

I see the 'derelict' as being underground too. I definately see the partitions opening above it as being the same 'opening' ground partitions that Shaw is standing on.

i suspect that the opening of the ship hangar is the one in the ground as well - but it could be two different openings. however, from an architectural and mechanical point of view, there is no reason it could not be flat on the top and arched on the bottom. that is totally plausible.
upon further investigating of the trailer i have also thought that maybe the "saucer" or disk shaped vessel could be much larger and house the smaller ships inside it. just a possibility but if so maybe it is in the ground and these openings are like hangar bays inside the big ship? however its hard to see the scale of these things so that could be way off... but it occurred to me when i thought i saw round or oval shaped designs in a glimpse of the disk ship that hovers over the Dettifoss waterfall in the trailer.
