Why are the Engineers on that planet anyway?

i've just been thinking about a line ridley said in a Q&A that might have given things away, something along the lines of w need to see what happens when the mummy meets the daddy. I'm guessing that becomes the basis of a future possible xeno, after it has been tinkered with like we had. Mummy The temples, which were originally meant to be pyramids i believe, are filled with urns. The urns have creepy crawlies in them, and i guess it is a worm or something that infects one of the crew. Who later impregnates shaw. This would be to create the mummy. In effect the uncivilized blueys are just using the humans to make a new species Daddy Not sure wether this would be the infected crewmember, but i imagine not. Im guessing the worm is nothing more than something capable of altering dna in a male to create one part of a mutated human (once shaw gives birth). But i imagine the worm is something that the blueys do. I think maybe the daddy happens after the technology is stolen from the blueys and perhaps david (who has kept whatever is removed from shaw) and has been feeding it (replicating the goo which i think is food). I think whatever comes from shaw is either something the blueys can mate with, maybe they are meant to be the daddys. But when they find out we have used the technology and made a daddy, maybe they think we are a failed experiment and decide to wipe us out? So, in essence, i think the temples are the pyramids, the head is some kind of representation of a dead bluey, some form of superior to the space jockey we see. the urns have enough matter/worms, to produce more in the image of the big head. The murals depict the life cycle and achievements of the dead space jockeys. Maybe there is a motif of lovecrafts ancient ones, and the bluey we see in the trailers is some kind of low level bluey, woken from his slumber by our arrival, or more likely the opening of the urn triggers something (echoing john hurt falling in the blue mist woke up the facehuggers in the original movie). I think they were able to forse what entropy would do to them over time, and the only way they could ensure their survival was to sow variations of their seed and help them along, and then wait for them to mature. Kind of like a crop. I just think that when the motifs of birth,union, god,creation, are linked with the uncivilized behaviour, the rapes etc, most of us will be pretty horrified. the most disturbing images ive seen (and dont like looking at of Gigers) are the ones where there is some kind of sex going on. it could be one scary ass movie this, especially as some of the scenes are disturbning ridley and he's embarrassed of them ( i imagine for what he's doing in them, not for their quality)

back on the egyptian/mummification/pyramid angle........this links with the line "a king has his reign, and dies, it is inevitable" when the pharoahs died, werent they buried with their servants (who were usually killed along with them). Am thinking that the blueys job is to make sure he can resurrect his boss (whoever the blue head is), and to do this they use the life cycle we have seen depicted, starting by transforming humans a little (via the worm), the transformed human mating and producing some slippery squid, and after that i'm not sure, but when we abort it the bluey butler goes batshit.

All interesting theories.... One thing that some of those try and sugest is that the Blue Guy and Space Jockey are not the same... i.e the dead Jockey the one in Alien and the ones seen hanging on the walls begind Shaw in one image are not the same as the Blue Guy.... Well maybe because the Blue Guy and who ever is in that chair at the end of Prometheus are not the same they cant be the sizes of off. I have in other posts explained my theory/explanations of why the Alien Jockey looked bigger, why the Dead Jockey in this movie looked bigger and the main thing is angles and distances. You can take a Photo of a Midget and make them look taller than a 7ft man, depending how the angles and distances are etc. For me i think the Blue Guy/Jockeys are the same thing... The Head is either suposed to represent the Jockey.Blue Guy or their orginal creator. Thus if we look at the Bible/Koran context the Statue could be God.... the Space Jockeys are Angels. But in other religons and ancient beleafs there was not ONE GOD but Gods.

Here is a idea i had, that when i look at other things going one, well does not fit in exactly but who knows.... My theory kind of makes sence but then looking at other stuff in the movie it may not be whats going on, even though i think as a idea its sound and explains a lot. Now i will try again to make this a quick one but it may not be..... Right the Engineers (Space Jockey/Blue Guys) are a race of genetic Engineers they create and modify lifeforms, they Teraform Worlds and Bio Form Life. During their many experiments someting had gone wrong and they created something either in purpose but underestimated it or created something by acident. Anyway said creation goes AWOL and nearly wipes out all of the Engineer race. What do they do when they find out there creation is so dangerous... but they manage to get it under controll i.e take them out. (Imagine at the End of Alien if Ripley went right to another Ship, she would tell them of the danger on LV426 and expect them to destroy that danger). Well maybe the Engineers either 1) Created it as a Bio Weapon. 2) Released that it could potentially be used as Bio Weapon so keep it. 3) Wanted rid of it for good, so transported it. So maybe once they took controll (i.e like when Ripley got rid of the Xeno in Alien) the Engineers decided the Xeno needs to be moved to a safer place, a place where it could be confinded and contained. And thus moved to LV426 Or maybe they was stored on LV426 and they moved some as samples to LV223 that went AWOL.. Maybe they never created the Xeno, maybe they came across them and so collected them as a sample and stored them on LV 426 but some they took to study on LV223 went AWOL. This would explain the Dead Jockeys, it would explain not seeing a Xeno in the movie untill the End (well something related to the Xeno Cycle). This would explain why the Derelict was parked not crashed on LV426 (did something go wrong during mission, or did the ship need to stop off at LV426 to load up on Cargo and then had a misshap). What about the Jockey though.... Well imagine that Earth had some kind of Disaster, imagine if a Bio Hazzard was to wipe us out some virus etc..... surely maybe some of us would go to some kind of underground bunker to keep out of the way? What if we had Cryo Tech? We could but some of us in Cryo Sleep and wait untill the Virus/Disaster as run its course... to one day once the hazzard has passed we can then re-apear and then start to re-habitat the Earth and start over again. Thus maybe the Blue Guy/guys had put themselves into some kind of stasis? But why... do they do it after they have cleared the meanace? Maybe only a few survive but how do they then reproduce if they are all but dead. Maybe thats when the Engineers need us... was they waiting for us knowing some day we would come? Or did we simply interupt the Engineers from their sleep.... All these above make sence for the movie inc Dead Jockeys, Jockey in Cryo Stasis, Derelict on LV426 for years (if different ship).... Apart from a few things..... Main one being Ridley said this movie is how the Mommy meets Daddy which sugests that the Xeno was not present prior to 2090, it sugests that the Xeno was created from a event that has something to do with Shaws Pregnancy to the Squid Baby.

My theory is that the engineers who are encountered in this film are engineers who "Stole" the technology and ideas of creating/modifying life in the universe from the original controllers and did their own thing with it. The crew thinks they will meet or discover evidence of their "gods" or creators, and while that's true, they are not benevolent and did not want humans visiting them (the ancient pictograms were a warning to stay away I think). Humans were their "dirty little secret" and now that they know that humans are capable of travelling through the stars, they need to erase them from record or else face the wrath of the proper Engineers who seed life and create life according to different more rigid guidelines. Maybe it was against Engineer code to create sentient beings capable of evolving to become just as smart as they are someday. Maybe they only wanted to make servant races and animals. The planet in the film is likely to be the remnants of ANOTHER civilization of some sort that worshipped the Engineers as gods, but were eventually destroyed for who knows what purpose. The crew stumbles on these ruins of what is essentially a dumping ground of the Engineers bad ideas and experiments they're not supposed to be doing and when the crew starts tinkering around it either "awakens" them or summons them to the planet (I'm guessing "summoned" is more accurate)
