It's the journalist's words. But nothing stopping you from calling it that, I guess.
Ridley has recently called it a "boomerang".
I prefer "space croissant" myself

The translucent casket-like pod figures in one of the film’s defining sequences, which mixes action, terror and horror in a way never before experienced on film. “What goes on there is simply the worst thing you can (or probably cannot) imagine,” says actress Noomi Rapace.
I repeat again. This needs to be an R-rated film. PLEASE let it be what’s in its DNA.

that wasn't Scott calling the ship that. it was the journalist.
i'e only ever heard Scott refer to the alien craft as a "croissant" ha!
Max’s epic sets that bring to life the alien planet include a Pyramid, which contains the Juggernaut, a ship similar to the crashed crescent shaped ship seen in Alien. Using a series of chambers, corridors and tunnels connecting the larger spaces to each other, and after post-production enhancement, the space is as enormous as the Empire State building. It was so cavernous that some crew lost their bearings.
ok, whatever

Didn't Scott call it that in the Paris screening? Cheeky monkey, making friends there...LOL

I like to think of it as a horseshoe that fell off a unicorn, smoking one of Ridley's cigars. Yeah :)

Depending on how the movie turns out, Juggernaut could be very fitting. I like it. I am also wondering if we will see the possibility of the Blue Guy going through a final transformation into a SJ as he enters the Juggernaut drivers seat, as if the ship is alive and he becomes one with it in the transformation.

Thanks for the link, AlsoKnownAsNate.
So there is a prologue sequence...and we'll see multiple metamorphic life-stages, similar to the original xeno....but the most interesting thing, is what Scott says:
“After you’ve seen Prometheus,” Scott concludes, “you will have experienced something completely unexpected.”
He seems pretty confident that he has a winner in the can.

@Chimera, now doesn't using the name Juggernaut just feel so much better than saying 'Derelict'?.... thanks, lol

I think it is the journalist's word - judging by the fact that the item I've seen that many describe as a, "silo", or, "temple", he chooses to call a "pyramid" - when it is clearly not one.
"Juggernaut" is OK, it's just a little cheesy and doesn't leave you very many places to go for description if you then want to talk about an even more titanic sight - so I hope it isn't official and I hope it doesn't catch on.
Like others, I have always enjoyed Scott's, "Space Croissant", description of The Bone-like Alien Vehicle #1, while for myself, following the common practice of calling it, "The Derelict"- so, I really hope he comes up with something equally and beautifully ridiculous, yet fitting, of his own - and that the general public develops something equally plain-speaking in reply, as happened the last time.

Beyond the direct reference the journalist gave to calling what we have causally been refering to as the 'Derelict' the "Juggernaut" there are some other very interesting mentions in this article. I tip my hat and give a moments pause for all the technical aspects and highlights given, but my focus was on the mention of the particular sets and costumes. I feel some of these insights lead way to possible plot foreshadowing. The importants of highlighting the elegance of Vickers quarters....the appearance of Capt Janek leading way to audiences that he has been in charge of this vessell for quite sometime.....Holloway in flip flops.....etc etc ******most important to me is the fact that it seems that it is implied that the medipod is in Vickers quarters possible clue here anybody????******

I'm going with "Boneship", heard it from someone on here a while back and fell in love with it. Boneship... at least in reference to the original back in '79.
