One of the most interesting shots of the new trailer is, in my opinion, the one that shows some white thing (very probably the space jockey head) exploding.
What do you think about that shot? why did it exploded? So many questions!!!
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

could be why the synapse re-establisher is an experimental peice of equipment. i hope that they would use it on the head that they find, and maybe something goes wrong.

If you freeze it at the right point just before it explodes you can make out a humanoid looking head...

It's the decapitated head that was inside the helmet.
Look at the tray it rests on and the lights behind it.

Its is the helmet but its hard to make out if there is a head inside it or not, we know that the Eel/Cobra has escaped from inside.

This is clearly not the helmet.

It is the contents of said helmet. Notice the eyes and nose.

It could possibly be a genetic defense mechanism. They do something to it (scan/probe) it and it morphs on the fly into some attacker. Or it could part of the "life cycle" where the brain of the jockey turns back into its primitive form upon death of the host (body)in order to find another host Goa'uld style.

it looks like a critter jumps out, but I'm not sure. A huge cog in the plot turns on this question. If something jumps out of the skull, is it what killed the Jockey, or is it the form the jockey reverted to in order to survive ala Galzu?
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Can i add my theory? a bunch of people think it's wrong but, I think after Fifield mutates and goes on the axe rampage in the lower hanger, they manage to cut his head off and freeze it (not sure the order of which comes first). and then to study or observe, thaw the head causing it to explode in a green goo liquid as something emerges.

I see what you're saying Shawluv:D....but it doesn't seem to track for me...the logic I mean...by the time all that Fifield business is going on, it appears things have generally fallen apart and gone to shit...WHY, after decapitating someone, would they bring his head back to the lab?.....now, it being something hiding and developing from indside the helmet, or head that's still in the helmet, to the point of that critical mass explosion...that makes sense to me.....

I agree that the head of the jockey explodes because there is a cobralien inside and it bursts out. But make no mistake, the cobralien mutates the host into a xeno-like zombie monster, not a SJ. Fifield suffers the same fate. I guess the only way to stop one of this mutants is severing the head. The infected jockey could have been decapitated by another jockey.
