I'm with you on this one. I'm especially pleased that all the creature effects thus far appear to be practical.

yeah, i was wondering what the little worm would look like, and was worried it would be corny, but thats pretty good, the way it spreads out like that, its very original and somehow believable. i have no idea why that guy gets anywhere near it...it in no way appears friendly. i would assume that it would do exactly what it does if i were to see it.

It'll be good to see how far they have taken animatronics and 'creature motibility' these days. With all the new materials and fine-tuned computer-fed machinations, the organisms in this should be all too real. Bring it on. I'm snapping up the Prometheus Cinefex issue if there is one.

Absolutely agree. Ever since the Star Wars prequels started, i hated CGI...They ruin movies AND TV shows. The models in Star Wars and Alien are future-proof. Watch the original Alien on Bluray, and you'd SWEAR it was released this year. LOL It's true. The ship models in Starwars are a perfect example. Creature effects will always be done best without CGI. CGI seems to be most effective when complimenting something else to create an effect; thereby enhancing it. I mean, really, what's the only movie where CGI looks realistic/good in general? ...Avatar? And what was the budget for that movie? I don't know, i think like...Eeer...The total GDP of some countries. I just don't know the name of this non-CGI effects method... Anyone? Anyone?

You mentioned "snake/serpent" like imagery. Wouldn't it be eery if there was some "Adam-&-Eve/Garden-of-Eden/Snake-Taunting-Eve-to-Eat-the-Fruit-from-the-Forbidden-Tree-of-Knowledge" type tie-in going on. Just a wild thought.... LOL

That cobra thing is more vicious than any Facehugger I have ever seen but I'm not ready to call it a Cobra-hugger as some have. A Facehugger attacks it's victims in order to impregnate them with an Alien embryo but this thing is down right mean and deadly it not only attacks with ferocious speed but it melts it's way through with acid as it appears to be the case with the melted face to helmet in the new trailer!!! Images that will forever haunt my dreams

BAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHAHAAAA! I lol'd while watching the new trailer... Oooohhh... Typical scientist... "No, no...It's Okay." *Bites arm* "AAAAHHH-AAAAAAAAAAHHH! AAAA-". I found it funny... I just see it too often in our real world... But, anyhow... What do you guys think it is? Just another one of the experiments of the SJs? Something similar to the Facehugger; instead of incubating a Xeno egg, it infects with that bio-mutagenic-whatever-it-is? My real question, however: Is it natural, or a creation of the SJs?

Thanks Mentos for that link. I love cgi if it's absolute top-notch, so if Weta are involved - and they were behind the fantastic King Kong a few years ago - it should be good. Think of those massive pit-slugs that devoured Andy Serkis - - that calibre of sordid horror is what we may get for Prometheus hopefully. I'm also one of the few who loved the cgi in 'The Thing' recently. But I do hope it'll be 50/50 with practical effects too.

There is a lot of CGI that looks the Dogs....Danglers.... CGI is a tool a very usefull Tool, go watch Jurassic Park its still class. The Problem is that its expensive to do and get some realistic real effects, especially on the big scale and especially regarding none Human looking effects. A CGI Ship is more practicle than a real Model hanged off a peice of String. The Problem is that when CGI is done bad, its more unrealistic than propper effects done bad. Its all about the budget and time thats given to any effects be that real effects or CGI, if done propper they can both look great. But when done great and with good budget CGI offers more to the produces as the expensive real effects you dont get many shots, with Expensive CGI you can change the scene for the same cost.

I would not say the Cobra is more nasty than the Face Hugger, both are pretty nasty buggers. Its like saying is it best to get chewed on by a Shark or a Lion. But thats your oppinion.... I am not sure if this is the Proto Face Hugger or just advanced one. From the Xeno Cycle/Biology the Face Hugger hatches from a Egg, and it implants a Embyo in its Host that then grows as it takes nutrients from its host and also takes on some of its hosts DNA. This Organism we see in Prometheus seems to either just directly change the Hosts DNA and also potentially controlls the Hosts Brain. So this Organism is kinda like a cross between the Star Trek Trill and some Organism that Mutates its Host as opposed to Grows something inside like the Orginal Xeno.

It probably is not a shoulder cannon, but if Ridley wants to throw in some predator stuff to F**k with peoples minds hey why not its up to him

Looking at the concept art provided by Prenihility, the "trunk" seems like an organic part of the "head" and this part doesn't look like a suit (helmet and breathing tube, etc.) Just my two cents. If it is Fan Art then it's some damn awesome Fan Art. Minus the Predator's shoulder cannon, I think it captures the bio-mechanoid (and organic) aspects of the SJ perfectly. IMO.

Predators are badass, period. They look badass, the concept artwork; yes, just to clarify, it's concept art, is badass also. Looks menacing. It's no laughing matter abordoli... *Cocks shotgun*. The shoulder cannon/plasma caster reference (however you want to interpret it) is badass aswell. I found it a while ago whilst scavenging for Prometheus info/news back when the movie didn't even have a release date. I believe that Milburn tries to get a hold of the Cobralien, which spits acid into his helmet and kills him. If you noticed in the trailer Fifield is just behind Milburn, so maybe while Milburn dies the thing jumps into Fifields arm and gets inside his suit and into his head, turning him into a mutazombie...

The last thing I want to see is the SJ or Engineer turning out to be Predator in the weird suit . After all they were depicted as Gods in AVP .

Yes, the SJ will reveal himself as a Predator just moments before Rambo and Terminator arrive on board of a space converted Titanic which eventually transforms into Optimus Prime and claims the Empire for himself and his five children: Darth Vader and the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Why would you even let something like that cross your mind...? WTF? We've seen their faces already. Predators don't belong here. Simple as that. Although, a cameo in a latter film would be cool!

Aliens, Predators,Terminators,Replicants,The Thing, etc are all masterpiece characters from various Sci-Fi movies. Prometheus should add one more to this long list, SJ or Engineer or whatever it is called. Ridley is obliged to satisfy this, or it will be a great disappointment . Predators dont belong here, but in AVP universe, they are mortal enemies of the Aliens. Who knows, the AVP guys too can use this idea and may come with a prequel, named "AVP:The Beginning " or so to show how the 2 species war began or so . Maybe a good twist will be SJ's made Predators as shepherd to the sheep,instead became hunters of the wild.

Predators are too independant/different to be of SJ origin. Like i said in one of my massive posts, i hope RS makes moments for them. Moments like the Predator taking off his mask at the end of the original film, something like that. They need their signature moments, too. Can't wait.
