THEORY - DNA thread to Alien

I dont know i orginally did think that maybe Shaws baby could be the Xeno progenitor. But that left some questions...... I think that the Xeno was created by something simular to what the Engineers are dappling into and what experiements they are doing. I think the Cobra/Eel could be connected but not the exact secquence of events. I think Ridley means we will see simular DNA in relation maybe to how these Organisms share some DNA with the Xeno maybe as mankind may do with Apes, or as Mankind does as far as a Bear etc. But when he later said we will see Alien DNA in the movie, i feel that the 8 mins of footage in this movie will show us either something from the orginal Alien Xeno Life Cycle or something that we can form a direct link with. Sorry if some stuff dont make sence, i been on the lash and had 5 Beers and 5 Ciders ;)

Something that may be of significance is the "cobra" creature we have seen in the new footage. It resembles a Hammerhead worm. The way the worm eats is interesting. This gruesome worm feeds by extending its throat out of its mouth and into a earthworm. Small bits of the earthworm is swallowed a little at a time. Extending its throat out of its mouth! Sound like something else we know?

possibly, but from what we have seen from the trailer i think shaw gets infected due to her intimate encounter with holloway....because as we see others who are infected react quite differently ....one guy looks to be melting away ....another guys attacks everyone in some fit of rage....holloway appears normal until we see him look in the mirror...etc man this is going to be a rollercoaster ride....cant wait!!

Before this "Xeno was Created During Prometheus" discussion goes to far, possibly let me reign this in a little by sharing some stuff about what happened in Alien: The Nostromo checks out "the signal" (which the company had already intercepted thus re-routing the Nostromo after swapping out the existing science office with company android and bio-weapon-protector extraordinaire, Ash) and lands on the "planetoid" within walking distance were the signal was emanating. Three enter the "derelict" and find a "pilot" fossilized into his seat with chest-burst would evident (as well as ancient). The "derelict" was a bomber carrying a bio-weapon payload (the eggs-which, BTW, have no shelf expiration date due to their ability to enter an unheard of dormant-hybernation mode). So there we have it! Proof that the Xeno bio-weapon is of the order of millions of years old and a quick end to the debate that THIS Xeno (the one from Alien) will be created during the timeline that Prometheus visits LV-223. This is not to say, however, that some NEW Xeno might not get created in Prometheus.

@Galzu thanks dude that definitely is a cool fact that does shed some light on somethings....cause i always wondered how the hell did the alien get the double mouth....the obvious reason is gigers art but from the movie stand point

@abordoli yea i have questions i think Dallas's observation of the space jockey being fossiled was incorrect....since we dont know much about the jockeys dna....but what we do know from the movie is the facehugger that attacked kane was anaylized by ash as he gave ripley a saracstic report....keeps replacing its cells .....and something about silcone making it a tough little bastard......may be the materials or whatever technology or substance involving the chair and jockey is just something we have never come in contact with which is why Dallas gave the uneducated estimation that it was fossilized....the movie was made in 1979....and i havent heard anyone mention it on her but in alien none of the crew were scientist etc ash they all were future truck drivers not quite specialist in biology....because if that were so there is no way the events that took place would have happen

@Galzu, Yes, that would be interesting to see and demonstrate that Prometheus (the things in the movie, not the ship) truly are of the same DNA as Alien as RS has furthered. Do we have any pictures of this "...throat out of its mouth" or is this just a theory based on a similar creature found on Earth? Also, not that this "cobra" creature is parallel to the "face-hugger" and although it had a proboscis to slip down the host's throat, it wasn't like the full-grown Xeno's mouth-within-a-mouth (not sure if that's what you were comparing it to, or if you were comparing it to the face-hugger's proboscis). Anyway, great observation!

@fanboy79, You know, that is entirely possible. I did not take into account that the SJ could have been silicone based like its payload. Maybe the Xeno was created during Prometheus.

Just going to add to this. If Prometheus is set about 30 years before Alien, and WY sent the Nostromo there; premeditated, with the intention of one of the crew members giving birth to an Alien and returning so they may study it, it clearly means they have substantial knowledge of the Xenos. WY knows of the Xenos. Something's going on with Vickers... Her orders seem very, very dirty... Nothin' but dirty intentions... Yep.

@abordoli What i was referencing is the Hammerhead Worm on Earth. These creatures actually eat prey that way..by extending its throat out of its mouth and actually taking small chomps with it (like a second mouth). Im just throwing it out there because for all we know the open slit on the "Cobra" in the trailer could have a secondary part that extends out of it. There was some concept art ive seen on the sight that shows a wormlike creature that has another worm like feature with teeth extended out of the main slit/torso. ill try to find it.

@prenihility i think at some point vickers has a change of heart....i completely agree from what we have been shown she has a secert agenda and has a vague knowledge of what may be going on on the planet....but as the events unfold she realizes her mistake or the inate danger of her directives and aborts them for the first instinct of humanity....survive...may be her and david know whats going on and at some point david blind sides her like yea you thought you were in charge but father trust me with sensitive information more than you...blah blah and that leads to....lol

I do think that the derelict the crew of the Nostromo encounter on LV-426 has been there for a considerably long time. I do not think that the ship that launches from LV-223 is the same one from Alien (LV-426). I take Ridley Scott at his word when he said that we would not see the classic alien or facebugger in Prometheus. I don't think we will see an "origin" of the classic alien or facebugger in Prometheus. I don't think that Shaw will give birth to an alien spore or egg. I do think we will be treated to domething altogether fresh and horrific. There will be things that are familiar. I think the "DNA" Ridley refers to may in fact be elements common to Alien, such as Weyland Industries, androids, hyper sleep modules, the look and feel of the film, even the familar tech of the mysterious beings that constructed the derelict vessel encountered in Alien. Ridley revealed the mystery behind the derelict in Alien, which really was no mystery at all; that the ship was forced down because a certain "critter" in the cargo hold escaped and we know where that led. As Sir Ridley said, Prometheus is not a prequel, but a stand alone film that takes place in the same universe as the Alien films. Speaking for myself, I would be somewhat disappointed to see the classic alien, facehugger and so forth. I am looking forward to something altogether new.

Yet he also mentions that the last 8-10 minutes somehow tie-in with Alien and then goes on its own way. So were clearly getting something at the end.

Please stop implying that events in Prometheus have any bearing whatsoever on what happens in Alien. They don't. The ship in Alien has been there for a really long time. The xenos on that ship were not created by Shaw or David or anyone human. We will not see them created in this movie because they are ancient. Why else would there be a frieze of one on the wall? Separate stories. Get over it.
