i saw a 2 hour interview with damon lindelof where he gave away insights into how prometheus could go. Damon slated the star wars prequals during the interview stating that he thought they where predictable and not true prequals. Damon stated that he thought a prequal was only true if it went back so far that it was about another story but in the same universe but did not predictably lead up to obvious consequences. Damon stated that he hated the fact that the star wars prequals showed the stories of skywalker and anakin instead of going further back and being about a scenarion much far back and deeper. It appears that prometheus may share DNA with alien but not in the predictable way people are saying. It appears thnat prometheus is not some warm up film to the predicatble ship found in alien but a massive story on a grander scale that contains a slight answer to the guy in the ship in alien.

And YES...that's what we all WANT to see. Something compelling, yet in the same universe, that doesn't spoonfeed us all the "this is how Alien happened, doh doh doh doo doh"... Leaves a lot of room for breathing in between the two time lines.

He makes a really valid point. How can you get worked up in dramatic tension, when you already know [i]exactly[/i] where everything is going to end up? I'm really happy they went in this direction.

Well WTF is he on about? A literal Prequel would be Star Wars 1-3 and The Thing Prequel. If we did a Prequel to Mankind you would expect it to either show.... man changing from Ape to Human or God waving his magic wand and presto. So a propper prequel is not what Prometheus is about.

but think about it like this heres a possible scenario, during the last 8 mins of prometheus we see another ship that looks exactly like the one that gets crashed out of the sky in prometheus but this ship is slightly different it contains eggs not urns and its on a different mission. Its been sent from a headquarters just like the ship in prometheus but its another story it lands on lv-426 and the pilot dies in agony and from him bursts a xenamorph, but the actual prometheus film can tackle another story alltogether about a similiar ship and its fate, that to me is clever and isnt predictable like spoonfeeding me the obvious.

i personaly dont want to know about zenamorphs i find that franchise piece to be boring and dated, a simplistic ruthless creatur roaming about biting holes in heads or dripping glue everywhere, i want to know about bio-tech engineers who ride space and create and terraform and see some other things they make, id be happy if the xeno did not even appear.

I think a "True prequel" to Alien is unnecessary. I think they can give us enough insight on the space jockey race and other aspects that are a part of the same universe that most of us should be able to put the pieces together for ourselves without them having to show us how exactly that derelict got there in Alien or how the eggs got there.
