that discussion was good 1 year ago , when we still didnt know what Prometheus was .... after all the words Ridley and all the others have spent to deny big ties with alien and expecially the "prequel" tag will be very silly to find that Shaw is the mother of Ripley . No way .

If this were to be official...Well, i don't know. It wouldn't be of any significance, really. Unless they wanted to bring Ripley back for a post-Resurrection movie. Also, abordoli. Y'know... Now don't make a voodoo doll of me for this, but... According to Ridley Scott it's actually a "prequel" not a prequel. Yeah, i know what you're thinking, right? "Woah, it's a Kansas City shuffle this time around!?". Answer: ...YYYYYYEAH. It's the quotation exchange, im affraid. Ridley first intended to make a prequel, but has since said it isn't, but we all know he's a bad liar :D. It's APPARENTLY a "prequel", not a prequel. In honest truth, though, we all know it's a prequel... NOT, a "prequel" as Scott said. My, how the quotations have turned....Literally.

God, I hope not! It's like Anakin happens to be born on the same planet as Luke (well, raised anyway, Luke wasn't really born there). What are the chances? Not a good way to tie in Prometheus and Alien.

In all honesty, yes, it is. Ripley was some chick on a tugboat that discovered a crashed alien ship. To have it that her own mother was a part of an expedition that discovered the race of beings that owned that ship is pushing the limits of intelligence as far as I'm concerned. There doesn't have to be that sort of link with the original. At least I don't feel there is. It really isn't needed to link the 2, we already have a similar ship, the same race of beings that were found on that crashed ship (or forced to land as Ridley now tells us it was) and I really don't want their to be anyone named Ripley on board the Prometheus. Her story has been told. Let's not go all Episodes 1,2,3 here please :-S @Prenihility, you always have a choice, you don't have to agree :-P if you like the idea, so be it. I think that most of the fans here want new ideas and connections that we would not have thought of ourselves if it can be done.
