Well friends, saddly [for me, that is] I'm unable to go to a movie theatre to watch a movie since I'm agoraphobic for some time now. But I do take some joy with all the hype and fervor you guys and gals trasmit in your posts. :D Believe it or not, there are a lot of people out there who are anxious for this event and will miss it. It's a cultural thing, an aesthetic thing, a sort of long awaited answer for some mind boggling questions. So, if there are amidst you good folks, some who may not be able to go out and watch this movie in the proper way of a theatre [for whatever personal reasons those might be], I sympathise with you. :) As for the rest of you good folks of this forum [to both the posters as well as the invisible and casual/dedicated readers] enjoy this movie as much as you can, from the moment you buy the ticket to the moment you leave the theatre and rush to this forum to share your thoughts [with an absolute grin on your faces, as I'm convinced the case will be]. Best wishes.

Ahhhhhh dude, I feel for you. I used to suffer that as well, pretty badly, but I managed to beat it eventually. Don't give up hope, and if you can make it outta the house with a friend or family member someone you trust DO IT! Don't miss out on this in cinemas if you can, it's a once in a lifetime thing! Night time was easier for me to get out when I started getting a handle on it, not as many people around. Took me about a year and a half to even get to that point but once I did it gets easier every time you go out the front door. Or, try the back door. It's not as confronting as the front :-P

I'm sorry for you David 1. I hope for you that in some way you can watch the film at the best conditions for you. And that it is released on home video asap!
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born. Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

Forever War, thak you kindly. Cypher, well this thing goes for almost 10 years now. I do get out of the house but I'm unable to walk the street. And you're absolutely right, night-time is the less shity time frame for me. I happen to know some people with this condition, and even kids are getting it nowadays, wich is sad. But, as I was thinking about not being able to go out and watch the movie, I know that there may be a lot of people reading this forum who may have some sort of personal things going on that unables them to go out and enjoy them selfs as well. And I do believe that [like me] they take some comfort with your joy. You were very kind to reply to this Thread.

Hi david1, i had something similar and got help for it, but the help ony really worked when i started exercising, then everything went away. No idea how or why, but the exercising paid off bigtime, and i just wish i had took the advice sooner. But that was for me, am not saying its applicable for all. Hope you get it sorted for the sequel!! ((((hug))))

It's an on and off thing for me for about 20 years, and it sucks and blows all at the same time. I think the longest period I spent indoors was 6 and a half years once. Didn't leave the house once at all, and took chunks out of the walls when anyone tried to physically remove me. Not smart on their part. Are you able to get out with someone you trust at night? Could you maybe get to a cinema that's playing it at midnight, not necessarily on the opening night but maybe a week or so after when the crowds might not be so big? Straight out the door into a car, then straight into the cinema? Just tryin' to think of something here, I refuse to let you miss out! :-P

Cypher how I understand you... it seems like we are dying isn't it? The worst thing a friend tried to do was take me to the city [Lisboa] without my conscient knowledge. It was a devastating experience [but I take no grudge... he didn't understand and still doesn't, but did it with a good intention in mind]. My main problem is not as much for getting out, its the noise and random chaos of citys. I'm going to venture with my sister to a fairly close local cinema at night. But, as it is, its in a shopping mall [with all the turmoil that comes with it]. And even if I pass out, well it would just be another try [and an honest one]. I hear you friend I hear you.

David 1, I, like Cypher, have had bouts of the same thing---in fact, I built a home theater just for this reason. I cannot tell when it's going to really hit.. However, I plan to premedicate heavily for this one---I cannot miss it on the big screen... Perhaps there's a Professional you can see that can help you medically? I hope so...

OK, get stoned before you leave the house. Seriously. Not so much you fall asleep and miss the movie, just enough to deal with the people and surroundings. Your sister knows what you're dealing with I'm guessing, so she can keep an eye on you. I'm also assuming you have a doctor that knows your history? Ask them if they can give you a lower strength Valium or the like to take the edge off the hand around your throat and heart. (I hate that feeling, worst part of this shit we deal with.) I know I shouldn't say this on the forum, might get chewed out, but I can live with that. I've lived like that for too long so I know how to help out with the worst of it if I can ;-)

i think what helped for me was knwing that when i was running (i started off running around a football pitch when it was pitch black outside) was knowing i wasn't going to collapse in a heap when i had an attack as such. Apparently, so i was told later, press ups give the same epiphany, when a big anxiety attack comes on, either sprint, or do as many pressups as you can. i can normally do about 60, but with the adrenaline of a panic attack that almost doubles. Its quite incredible really. we're 'evolved' for the sahara plains, but have this adrenaline system that needs managing, the effects of adrenaline in the system can be quite scary, until you exercise, So, even if you can't go out, it may be an idea to do push-ups. Start with 1 and build on it. All I can say is its worked for me, now if anxiety is triggered there is no fear associated with it, so i can lead a normal life. Now if i could only stop cross dressing and flinging my own faeces at the cops i could breathe a huge sigh of relief :-)

Hello there Otto I've been in and out of professionals [can we call them that?] for the day it started till now, without any kind of fair positive results. It seems I just found out 3 more friendly people with this awful thing, here. Eh, I'm inclined to believe we weren't made to live like bees in a honeycomb. As for the Home Cinema... no money. I hope you are doing better now, though

I prefer seeing films at home now...Have a 47" Inch LG LCD and a DTS/THX capable Surround system with 13 satellites and 3 12" sub woofers. I saved up for a few years there and built it up slowly from scratch. IMO it's ten times better than any theater. No Fat Lady with a Massive hat blockin' my perfect view and no interruptions or if there has to be one ..."el pause-a-rino" as "Brett" would say. The food's better too ! LOL.

@David: I understand, but Cypher's words above may be helpful in your case. Just a LITTLE bit of something like he mentions, would be very helpful...It has helped me to do those things most of the time... wait a couple of days and go to one of the less populated early shows, if possible... I hope you can join us in the fun!

Cypher, yes I use to do that when I must go out and fill some IRS stuff. Get those drugs down the throat and pray not to pass out and being robbed. The worst for me is that "seems I'm not in my body right now" feeling. If you ever had that [and I'm sure you did] its one of those feelings you have that you think that either you're dying or you're going insane. And the body doesn't seem to do what you tell it to do and things like that. My sister is very well aware of my condition yes. She encouraged me to go with her and watch this perticular movie [love Sir RIdley's work]. As for the forum rules... I hope not...

That's a bitch - I feel for you, man: and [i]not[/i] just because of this damn film, it's just a film, after all, no matter how good it is. I just hope you get the help and support you need to fix this - a person needs the sun on their back, sometimes. Hang in there, won't you?

Windood, LMFAO. I bet you're a very spirited and heartly person. I honestly have to say that I don't spend much time exercising [shame on me]. But I will take your kind advice, though. It takes one to know one, doesn't it? :D
