And with that, I think it's time I start getting away from this site. Sorry, but while I don't mind a few hints that are given through interviews and promo trailers and the discussions thereafter, I don't want to read any info coming from anyone who has seen the movie first and spoils the whole experience for when I get to see the movie or read the book. I'll probably keep an eye on the news page, but I'll be staying away from the discussions areas.

I think you're right Darth. I remember going into Alien knowing practically nothing and walking out feeling like I just got hit by a train. That's the kind of "impact" I'd like to feel from Prometheus and that's going to take will power to avoid spoilers at all costs. I won't leave the forum but will avoid anything with "spoiler" in the title.

I with you here - ime to exit until the movie comes out. Went into Alien cold as can be and walked out blown away. I expect that kind of impact from this movie so reading here daily will kill hat experience. Avoiding "spolier" may not do the trick.

yep - we need 2 'Talk Prometheus' board links at the top - seen / not seen -very clearly marked and Idiotproof
still - will be like herding cats, youre going to get a lot of misposts and some intentional attempts at sabotage - I think it will get out of control after May 31st

Salutations, the spoilers whether they were ever intrinscally relevent or not for me is what has lured me almost hypnotically to this site everyday since November. I was fortunate to see Alien in the cinema when I was nine years old and has remained a visionary masterpiece to any cinematic experience since in this particular genre. Having said that I welcome the spoilers. So far the spoilers have only elevated my facination with this film. I may very well be the only member that would view a bootleg and or pirated copy of Prometheus if it was available at this moment. Take care everyone.

Spoilers is kind of what this board is for, isn't it? If you want to avoid spoilers and you come here, you are an idiot.
I, for one, will be very happy to have an end to some of the more ridiculous ideas that keep on surfacing here. When the real plot becomes more widely known it will be a huge relief to see the insane theory folks stop posting crap.

These twitter conversations are worse than that fake script we got leaked. We won't need to worry about any REAL spoilers for a little while. Most of the ones chosen for these advanced screenings know the drill and would know not to post such spoilers on a public network. Fox wouldn't have it.
Also, that conversation you're referring two involved one random twitter person, nobody connected to any movie site, or review board and 2-3 members from one specific site. Just sayin'.

Hahaha ... yeah for sure Taka ... and yes BH I realise that ;) ...
I must say though .. out of that Twitter malarky a few 'nice' theories (as far as I'm concerned) have arisen and seem plausible ... hehe ...

haha I'm kind of new posting here, but my feeling was spoilers were quite welcome too, at least by a part of the forum. Just like Sundar said, my interest in the movie only does rise as I learn more about plot elements. As is true for Alien or other movies, I'll enjoy Prometheus just as much even after I first watched it.
I'm quite surprised by people's reaction to these tweets. I've came across a lot of theories that were really ridiculous or contradicted by many elements from trailers or statements by the film's crew. Though I am really not convinced I am even close to the most knowledgeable ones around here, I tend to stick to well supported stuff and really not buy most of what I came across. Do you guys have serious reasons to dismiss this plot-line?
From the elements I have, it at least stands free of any contradiction from the reliable elements that been posted until now.

I am amazed at all the members who cry foul over spoilers. I remember not too long ago we were all dissecting trailers and leaked tidbits of video, and some worked quite hard to reveal anything they could about the film.
Why join this site and contribute to the discussions if you're gonna duck and cover when something revealing is shown? People keep asking for the staff to block threads and create a "spoiler" section- can someone please clarify where the imaginary line is between what we did a few months ago and what we are doing now?
Wait, I know now! Now we're griping about it instead of congratulating those who find the information. Is this a government operation? Jeez!

I unanimously agree Lapetus and Aintnozeno. Every available trailer, still, audio record, poster, review, reply, commentary, cast and crew member, set locations, attire, service equipment, weapons, engine propulsion, dark matter and so forth has been analyzed to a sobering synopsis that defy comprehension in face of a member ''spoiling'' the film. Every possible shred of incoming data whether fact, presumptious or fiction has been disseminated to a minute degree so analytical that to incense or degrade a member for a potential ''spoiler'' is akin to the Captain of the Titanic telling everyone they may experience some moisture. Take care everyone.

I'll keep using the water metaphor.
As long as you are thirsty and the water keeps dripping, you make the most you can of every drop. Then the floodgates get open suddenly. You can be sure that once your thirst has been quenched, all the excess water is going to be detrimental. In the end it is a matter of balance.
All the trailers, pictures and featurettes released so far are official issues. They were there to be looked at, and possibly analysed.
If somebody has access to insider information and decides to spill the beans then people are going to complain, no doubt, because it is unfair, as it spoils the anticipation (we should consider that the official material could be misleading on purpose).
I agree that complaining about spoilers seems sometimes a contradiction, but there is the common misconception that whiners=analysers. Those who complain about "official" spoilers are those who don't over-analyse. I don't think that those who studied every single pixel so far are actually complaining about anything (except maybe for unfair asymmetric information).
In the end I wholeheartedly agree that those who don't want spoilers should educate themselves, rather than complain about the rest of humanity not behaving fairly towards them.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

Well, yeh everyone's point of view here makes sense to a certain extent I guess. But as long as people give clear warning, multiple times (title - links - text) so others can 'spoil-themselves' to their own desired degree (or not at all) then I really hardly see how people could complain.
About your metaphor, I am with you on this and understand how 'a tiny rewarding potential info after thorough investigation of potential clues' really do not equate a 'minute summary of the plot, the dialogues and the color of David8's panties'. Personally, I really don't care cause I am intrigued by Scott's approach and by the movie itself. However, I'd tend to put the others in 2 categories.
Those who are genuinely head-in for the movies experience and want it the least spoiled they can get it, but come here for a short fix here and there to wait until the release and experience the thrill of 'risking to know'. I think it's ok, though I think they can easily navigate through spoilers and not really complain that other get their own motor going another way.
Others, who really are more into 'investigating' and tricking clues into corners, more than they really are into the movie/plot/big picture. Those to me turn into the whiners who are not happy others have info they don't and they feel others had it in an 'unfair way' and they should be banned and not post it. Those, to me, are the ones generating resent cause their position make no sense, and even if their tireless investigation have some merit, they shouldn't be here to get a medal anyway.
oh well...
